You know the problem: although a strong WiFi signal is available nearby, your device is keeping the connection to a much weaker, more distant WiFi network. You have to disable and reenable WiFi on your device to force the strongest WiFi connection. Smart WiFi Selector puts an end to this situation! Advantages over other WiFi Switcher apps:
* Smart WiFi Selector uses the (selectable) difference in signal strenght to decide when to switch to another WiFi. The connection to the new WiFi will happen if the signal is e.g. 20% stronger than the current signal. This eliminates the constant switching - and, with this, constant signal interruption - in the overlapping area of 2 WiFi networks.
* Selectable scan interval for the search for the strongest WiFi connection
* Different scan interval for "screen off" possible. In most cases, a bigger interval - which saves battery - will suffice when the screen is turned off
* Preferred WiFis: connection is held as long as possible
* It's possible to exclude specific WiFi networks from scan
* Instant scan for the strongest WiFi connection when the screen gets switched on
* Sleep mode with own scan intervals to save battery. The sleep mode can either be triggered by time or by the connection to specific WiFi networks. For example, if there are multiple WiFi networks at work, but only a single network at home, you may want to put your home network on the sleep mode list. As soon as you leave your home network, Smart WiFi Selector will enter the normal work mode.

I needed my phone and tablet to select the 5ghz WiFi instead of the 2.4ghz WiFi as even though it's a weaker signal it has a much faster throughput for streaming. This app has the option to prioritise 5ghz by artificially boosting it's detected strength. Now we can stream in the bedrooms furthest from the router where the 5ghz signal is weaker. Perfect!

I have 2 WiFi signals in the house. One is the main router and the other is the extender. Both produce the same 2.4 & 5Ghz signals. The 5Ghz signals pretty much cover the house with both devices but my phone wouldn't switch to the stronger one where ever I was. Downloaded a similar app but it didn't switch to 5Ghz signals. Downloaded this and it did! Now I don't have to manually shut the WiFi off on my phone to connect to the stronger signal.

It's incredible there are not more downloads of this app. I have many apps and this is one of my favorite. I have a small home with two cheapo WiFi Access points. Since coverage area is so poor, I was wearing myself out switching WiFi multiple times per day. This app automatically switches access points for me.... No more accidentally using my data plan!!! Works anywhere on dozens of WiFi systems wherever I travel throughout the day. It's even customizable!!! No problems on my Moto X.

Works as documented. In a mixed environment of 2.4 and 5 GHz access points it will drop a faster 5 GHz AP for a slower 2.4 GHz AP because signal strength of 2.4 is usually greater. Would be good to give a settable percentage advantage to 5 GHz.

Automatically connects to the best wifi. Perfect where there are multiple wifi hubs and repeaters that you can use. Connects to a better network straight away rather than waiting until you lose all signal from your current connection.

Didn't see the battery drain people refer to but it just doesn't work on my phone. Thanks to the developer for their reply, however, assuming you're the only one with knowledge and that everyone else is stupid is not a great sales pitch. I already had location services on and my battery isn't set for optimisation. However, having given the app more time it does work, sort of, sometimes , but it does disconnect you from wifi it's not a true bump less transfer. So it's basically doing what I was doing with my finger and draining the battery a bit quicker at the same time.
