About Logcat [NO ROOT]

PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION.

Read Android logs without root access. The app uses remote debugging to connect to phone local ADB daemon. Configuring remote debugging on a phone can be challenging and requires some technical expertise. It has to be done once and after each device reboot.

Enable USB debugging first on your device. Navigate to Settings > About Phone and tap Build number seven times. Go back, access the Developer options menu and check USB debugging option.

Next step is to enable remote debugging. You need to have Android SDK installed on your computer. Connect your phone via USB cable and run following adb command:

adb tcpip 5555

Disconnect USB cable before trying to use the app. Some phones have problems handling network ADB connection when they are connected via USB as well.

Sometimes establishing connection to ADB hangs and requires killing and restarting the app. It seems to be a problem with ADB daemon itself and not the app issue.

Not sure I'm hoping this works before its formatted against my wishes. I'm not sure whom is formatting my apps and device and its become a headache not worth having over technology

Works great, just what I needed!

The app needs full instructions added to it in case the user is offline and cannot figure out what the app is supposed to do. In fact with newer Android devices, one could just use the Grant command inside ADB to give the app permanent read logs permission. But the app needs to list that in its manifest.

Just the tool I needed!

Started getting a bunch of robocalls after installation.

I just needed to track down why Package Installer was giving a parse error for any APK. Phone runs CyanogenMod but isn't rooted since root packages like SuperSU seem to soft-brick it. This app worked great, and it holds the scrolling when you scroll the log back, which makes it readable. Found the error (package installer was denied access to the APK), fixed it (Settings, Apps, show system), and now my life is good! Thanks!

The app actually works without root, which is great. But no filtering or at least searching the log, and no timestamp make it rather useless. Edit: thanks for adding timestamps!

Well done, keep it up! Filtering option to have would be nice .

Dosn't work. Says I need to open a port through adb. Why? No need in other apps.
