About Japanese JLPT Words (N1 - N5)

JLPT Words is a helpful tool to learn the Japanese language and prepare for the JLPT exam by studying Japanese vocabulary. It contains a dictionary of over 8,000 words required for the exam across all 5 levels. The dictionary can be searched on using kanji, kana (hiragana/katakana), or romaji. You can filter the dictionary by JLPT levels and each word is colour coded according to its level. You can choose to display or hide romaji in the app.

Of course, you can use my app even if you don't study for the exam! It's perfect for vocabulary review and can help to memorize kanji.

It contains vocabulary for all levels - JLPT N1, JLPT N2, JLPT N3, JLPT N4 and JLPT N5.

You can mark words as:
* favourite - you can choose to use only favourite words during the quiz,
* blocked - excluded from the quiz.

You can test yourself using a configurable quiz to learn the Japanese language quicker. The options allow you to select:
* JLPT level,
* whether use all words or favourite words only,
* English to Japanese or Japanese to English quiz,
* entry type: multiple choice using buttons or text entry,
* script used to display questions and answers (kanji, kana, romaji),
* number of questions,
* how learning progress is used to select words for questions.

The application tracks your learning progress and displays it against each word. To make your learning easier, words that you know less are selected more often for questions in the quiz. You can also filter the dictionary of words by learning progress and JLPT levels as well as hide and show translations.
You can back up your progress as well as your favourite and blocked words and restore into a different device. You can do that using Dropbox (if you have an account) or SD card.

Permissions required by JLPT Words:
- Full network access – used by Dropbox back, statistics, and ads.
- Modify storage – used by SD card backup.

Vocabulary list is based on http://www.tanos.co.uk/jlpt/ (used with permission).

The application is ad supported.

JLPT Words uses Google Analytics (www.google.com.au/analytics/) to gather anonymous statistics about the application usage, users' handset and country. No detailed information about location is gathered. The statistics help me to understand how the application is used and make it better.

Easy to use. Hopefully, we can select words that appear. I can't recognize all N3 words immediately.

Great app and definitely created by someone who understands what is necessary to learn effectively. Next step is to improve the English meanings, add sentence examples and make the favourite and block buttons large/closer to 'next'.

I appreciate the work done on this app, but there are several mistakes that needs to be corrected before I can recommend it. First, the readings and meaning of some words are just plain wrong, it looks like Google translate was used in some instances, don't rely on Google translate for the reading of Japanese words! Second, having both kun-yomi and on-yomi would be helpful. Third, try using the words in sentences, if this option was available, this app would be great.

Seems a little buggy but works well enough that I'm not sure. Kind of unclear about figuring out which words have been retested. However, I suppose the main problem is that it didn't help my score. Used it a LOT before the last exam. (Did give me some ideas about a much better approach, but...)

Absolutely my favourite app for learning Japanese. I have only started using it, but it doesn't seem to have a list of the words you are having trouble with. If it could have that, it'd be perfect!

I love the quiz feature. It is really useful to help learn. I also love the ability to select favorite words, and be quiz on those and select hiragana view

Doesn't allow you to mark words with multiple meanings correct. Just has one mode (quiz). Pretty much useless and can be confusing for new learners and old learners alike.

This app is wonderful. I love how much I can customize the quizzes. In particular, I'm fairly proficient in kana and am glad I can turn off Romaji. It'd be nice if the app could deal with words that have multiple translations. And the ads are extremely distracting. I would love to be able to purchase an ad-free version.

I'm really impressed with all that you can do with this thing. I thought at first 'well why doesn't it have this?' But after exploration, I found that it had everything I wanted as well as nifty things that are helpful. Just super, SUPER impressed. To say how much : this is the FIRST review I've done on a product. EVER. THAT IMPRESSED.

Great app. I made use of the favourites feature. There is another great app by same author for verb conjugation. I love "hiragana view only" as good practice for reading. I love quiz mode and it is a great look up dictionary. I think one or two uncommon words may not be in vocabulary but that is minor, and at times updates are present, perhaps you can submit the word

Shows constant ads like a loose bowel: other than that satisfies its claims.

M70%
by M####:

not many features, bad UI which makes it hard to understand what your looking at, and search feature is not very robust. f.e. searching 森りん should find 森林 but it doesn't. also should have more features like clicking on a kanji anywhere in the app to view it's entry.

M70%
by M####:

Could be better if in the quiz you added translation for all the answers and not only for the correct answer.

Needs better memory of where you were last in the list. When your phones screen goes blank and you have to turn it back on, or the picture accidentally switches from horizontal or vertical, it automatically sends you to the start of the list

I've tried many JLPT and Japanese training apps. This one blows most of them right out of the water. This is an altogether well designed app. Thanks!
