About Japanese Verbs

Japanese Verbs is a helpful tool to learn Japanese by studying various forms of the Japanese language verbs.It is especially recommended for beginner to intermediate learners.

It contains a dictionary of 713 verbs which can be searched on their different conjugation forms using kanji, kana, or romaji as well as on translations. You can filter the verbs in the dictionary by JLPT levels. You can choose to display or hide romaji in the app.

Information about each verb contains:
* its kanji, kana (hiragana/katakana) and romaji versions,
* translations,
* information indicating whether the verb is transitive or intransitive,
* conjugation group,
* JLPT level,
* 17 conjugation forms.

The application also gives a detailed explanation on how various verb conjugations are formed and presents examples of verbs from different groups.

You can mark words as:
* favourite - you can choose to use only favourite words during the quiz,
* blocked - excluded from the quiz.

You can test yourself using a configurable quiz to learn the Japanese language quicker. The options allow you to select:
* quiz type: choosing a correct dictionary form from many verbs or choosing a correct conjugation form of one verb,
* entry type: multiple choice using buttons or text entry,
* script used to display answers (kanji, kana, romaji),
* JLPT level,
* number of questions,
* how learning progress is used to select verbs for questions,
* verb forms used during a quiz.

The application tracks your learning progress and displays it against each verb. To make your learning easier, verbs that you know less are selected more often for questions in the quiz. You can also filter the dictionary of verbs by learning progress and JLPT levels as well as hide and show translations.

You can back up your progress as well as your favourite and blocked words and restore into a different device. You can do that using Dropbox (if you have an account) or SD card.

Permissions required by Japanese Verbs:
* Full network access – used by Dropbox back, statistics, and ads.
* Modify storage – used by SD card backup.

The application is ad supported.

Japanese Verbs uses Google Analytics (www.google.com.au/analytics/) to gather anonymous statistics about the application usage, users' handset and country. No detailed information about location is gathered. The statistics help me to understand how the application is used and make it better.

I have money and you can make the ads go away. I hope you can see where I'm going with this... Great app though. Been struggling with my verbs lately, so the conjugator was just what I needed. Let me pay for ad-free and you'll get your 5th star!

Super helpful, the interface is not the best, but everything works fine and more importantly offline. I'd love to have an option to see the verb in ます or る form during the quiz below or instead the English meaning and an ad free version.

Looked like a really cool app but every time you close it you loose your favorite verb list - worse all your favorite verbs get moved to the blocked list... if you want to study a specific list of verbs you therefore loose a lot of time, having to move them one by one every time you open the app from the blocked list back to your favorite list. :-(

This app is generally great, and it's the best I've found so far - however, I do experience an annoying bug (version 3.0.1) on my Galaxy S5 (Android 6.0.1) where, if I terminate the app, any verbs I've Favourited are instead shown in the Blocked list upon restart. This seems like an I/O error that should be simple to fix. - Another more minor bug: every time I go into Verb Dictionary the verb list is empty until I change the filters.

Superb app. I love the fact that the casual forms come first. I also love the way you can simply switch between kanji, hiragana and romaji. Very nice. The search function is great too. Don't know the kanji, then search by romaji. Awesomeness!

My favourite 'free text' Japanese quiz app. I still haven't a clue why on earth the creator doesn't put out an ad-free version. Plenty of people would gladly pay that, myself included.

I'd just like to suggest adding what you described as the "conjunctive base" form... Like 見る>見 or 話す>話し. Also, when quizzing, if both Kanji and kana are displayed, can it display the Kana small like furigana?

I love the conjugation tutorial. I love the quiz feature. In this case, I can be quized on verb meaning and conjugation. It is really useful to help learn. I also love the ability to select favorite words, and be quiz on those and select hiragana view

I quite like this app. easy to use and I like the fact that it tells you what level of the JLPT these words would come up in. Not sure how reliable that is though.

It's a simple concept that you select the jlpt level you want and just drill the verbs in random order. I like that you can select as many as you want and how quick it is to go through a selection. Even better is you can choose verbs to favourite which are useful to look up later to use for studying. Simple, quick but effective.

Love the concept. Sadly, the ads get a bit obnoxious during quizzing as they get pushed up by the keyboard. I'd gladly pay for an adfree version.

The option of disabling Romaji is great. You can search by English meaning. Also search by Romaji (if lazy), or any form of a verb. One gripe is that there is a bug which causes the entries to revert to Kanji if Kana script is selected. For beginners Kana is helpful.

I couldn't find several important verbs. At least I think they're important. I also hope there is a way to show the intransitive / transitive companion of the verbs. Otherwise a good app.
