DS cloud for Android
DO NOT INSTALL 3/23 UPDATE!! After updating my Samsung GN10.1 reboots every time I launch DSCloud! Prevoius Review: V2.0-097 now shows as constantly reconnecting as others have reported since Jan 24. Running DSM 4.3-3776 with Cloud Station 2.2-2603. Seeing the same behavior on multiple Android 4.1.2 clients and the Windows client. Update - Apparently disabling SSL is a workaround and Synology is working on a fix. Update 1/30/14 - Cloud Station v2.2-2?604 released but does *not* fix the problem.
It was a great app, allowing you to have essential files always available even without any Internet connection. However it stopped to sync my files properly, making it useless and even dangerous for the integrity of my files. Even with the latest sync button it stops synchronizing properly. Just a shame.
It does not allow you to choose the location on the external SD card to sync to. This is frustrating considering that I have organised files on my SD card for particular subjects and topics. Please change this. Otherwise the app is great. Please do something about this.
Can't sync files of any folder on SD card except app folder. Still this excuse of Android 4.4 and onward. I now use foldersync in SSL WEBDAV since my phone does not support adoptable storage.
Bough a synology machine and though that I could syncronise to various binders on my main machine, but NO it can only syncronise ONE binder, so I have to use ANOTHER sync program to copy the info from where it is to a "jump off" binder and then to a binder on my android tab. And it refuse to sync my sd card on my phone event though this is where I keep all data and photos. That was actually good as it deleted a lot of files I just needed out on a job. DISASTER DO NOT USE. Months go by and no fixes...
It worked flawlessly as far as i can tell until I upgraded to Android Nougat, at which point it no longer connects at all. Cloud Station on OS X also won't connect at this point. I have the Android app, the OS X app and all of the software as well as the operating system on the DS413j on the newest versions and it won't work. They better fix this soon or it'll hurt their business.
Theoretically nice, but practically a huge waste of disk space on the server. And why a persistent notification? I rather use rsync instead. No overhead, no waste.
Still does not use Storage Access Framework API to access SDcard post KITKAT. Please hire programmers that can understand Lollipop docs!
In iOS app I can take pictures right into a selected cloud folder. This feature was the sole reason I chose this app. Dissapointed to learn that android app is missing this feature.
Worked perfectly in lollipop on Galaxy Note Pro, synced my entire 28gb projects folder to my 64gb Kingston card. Useful for field work as I sync my phone (lollipop on Asus zenfone), MBA, home and office computer, I can view my files anywhere. Updated to nougat, now I can't sync to my card anymore. I don't want to use my memory card as shared memory as it will be tied up to my tab, I cannot access it on any computer. Please update the app synology, thanks
Doesn't work waisting money. I bought my diskstation and I'm very angry, anything work. It's impossible to get connected with my phone any apps works.
Numerous bugs with this app on the New Samsung Galaxy S8. Files are being lost/deleted when syncing. Also, it is very annoying that we can't swipe left/right to browse photos that are being viewed in this app, just like we can in DS File
Was very useful and my favorite app in the past, but currently it's crashing every 5 seconds, triggering device crashes, sucking the battery like hell and doesn't sync all files.
This app is horrible. I give it 2nd place for worst app award. It has caused my phone to suddenly and unexpectedly reboot about 50 times a day, causing me to lose unsaved work and cut me off from phone calls for about 5 days until I figured out what was going on. Here is an idea: Please hire more competent programmers. Although I'm 60 and a recently retired high quality computer programmer, if you make it worth my while I'll help you folks fix all your app bugs (i.e. DS FILE also crashes my phone too when you try to delete too many files in a directory on your NAS - it floods the network with hundreds of delete requests and also causes the NAS to not accept logins for about 5 minutes too and that bug has remained unfixed since forever). BTW, this app seems to only crash my phone when I'm on the cellular network. I.E. as soon as I wander out of my Wi-Fi AP range, the phone switches to cellular and within a minute this app causes the phone to go black and reboot. And then it will do it again after rebooting, sometimes up to 6 more times, leaving my phone unusable until it stops. That's not nice.
Tends to crash if you click on a synced folder inside the app.
The app is crashing every few seconds. It is impossible to use it.... useless
Used to work fine but now just crashes out and won't sync. Very poor.
Works well but it's a killer on the battery compared to my last sync program
Force closes on startup on Google Pixel xl
all photo not found after synced

Dreadful. It does not sync. I've been using this app for well over one year and little if anything has been done about the syncing issues. The app offers very poor feedback in the way of information to end user and what the app is doing. Without doubt the worst client I've ever used.
The choice between up, down or two way sync is a big improvement. Problems start for me when the .cloudstation folder at the root of the internal sd becomes to large (if it gets above 256mb ((not counting log files)) the app won't open but if you delete these files a full resync is necessary. I think this app should have a better way of trimming these files. (i think they have made big progress in this however as the same sync task once created a few GB of data)(yes I'm syncing 2-3 TB's with an Android device)
Used to work o.k. But nowadays it syncs only once and forgets to do so until reboot um my wileyfox storm. guess I'll switch to synching with my owncloud server instead. Works much more stable than this client!
Xperia Z1 compact d5503: uninstalled, reinstalled, took off ssl, used a newly made account. Nothing is updating and the info says that the status is up to date
Says up to date, but it isn't. No syncing any more... S7 Edge Edit: Restarting the phone worked. But why does it say Up To Date and it isn't. Not safety!! After Some minutes it stopped again syncing...
Love it, till it stops syncing and I have delete server sync data and set everything back up (10 devices). Still worth the effort. Need a way to restart the sync service on android without having to restart my android device, since the service quits working after while (only for some android devices such as NVIDIA Shield K1, but not an issue for Nexus 6&7). Now I cannot sync to a device with scard not formatted as internal (adoptable). It will only sync to its own folder. Update: Using this app in conjunction with FolderSync (for the files I want on the SDcard) over WebDav.
Good app, very handy for syncing documents across al my devices. However, the Android app crashes when I tap on the folder that is being synced... Hopefully this bug will be fixed in the next update.
Developers, please make an effort to deal with external SD permissions, everyone else has already learned it. This would be the last thing to get every user's five-star.
when syncing you cant select ext storage and all custom sounds are broken. after uninstall sounds remain broken!
Frequently pauses, and cannot write or read sd card except to one silly folder. This is no longer an OS limitation. Devs need to fix it for all sd card. Use 'FolderSync' app instead.
INSECURE. stores private config and logs in public location (sdcard)
Stopped syncing. Realized that the "Connection Status" in the app settings was set to "pause". Changed status and syncing continued. Not sure why status was changed to "pause" to begin with.
Stops syncing after a while. Desktop versions have no issue. (as of today)
I am not able to disable content sync. I have saved 500 GB on my NAS and it is impossible to sync all the content to the mobile phone. Especialy if is not possible to save files to SD card. Why the app dont have a mode where you can see folders structure and you can download file you need like dropbox app?
If you have a Samsung device, the to-be-sync directory must be created with a non-Samsung file manager (i.e. Total Commander). Otherwise, the files in the directory will be synchronized only once after a device reboot, then no more sync until next reboot...
Works for a while and then... just... stops. If you un-link and re-link (takes about 5 minutes) you can always get it syncing again. I can only presume that it is really really buggy.
I can't login, error message: "Connection Failed. Please check your network settings and try again."
Crude design, no very user friendly and heavy on the battery.

Becoming useless for me over time. Firstly it doesn't two way sync, well that's pathetic. Now I have a Galaxy S8 with only 64GB internal storage but I hsve 256GB SD on which I have all my files - music, video, and where I'd like to sync my files from NAS into a folder of my choosing, but this app insists it goes where Synology wants to put it as they haven't updated to latest Android permissions. Come on Synology, if you want to be the best for NAS based on cool and useful software, at least make it work properly. This app is no longer useful to me and I'm now stuck for a solution. Thanks so much for that.
