FTPSyncX is the most common remote synchronization tool.
It can Synchronize files & folders.
Remoteserver types are FTP, FTPS (SSL), SFTP (SSH) and SMB (Samba, Windows shares), DropBox
Security is the most important thing, so FTPSyncX stores passwords never in plaintext. So a possible theft can not readout the stored passwords.
Also you can Setup a Securitylock master password which you can use to Lock your Servers, nobody can edit this server if he does not enter the correct unlock password.

the app is top and i already have the paid version. question is - why does it need write access to my samba share? i would be more happy about read only shares for my mobile devices
User who said it changed the extention of the file uploaded was appearently having server connection issues. .FTPSync files are appearently uncompleted uploads and I'm sure its made that way so that it can resume files or so that you understand that files are incomplete. This program works fine! Maybe some compatability issues but it absolutely works. I know I had some problems with permissions but that was my fault. My only complaints are no way to cancel a large jobs before they start uploading unless you delete that backup. I even tried restarting the phone. And speeds are definately an issue I peak out at about 600 KB/s on Verison 4G LTE to a very fast server. Also love the fact that its got Tasker integration.
I tested free version for several days. It worked fine. But when I bought a paid one. It just doesn't start automatic synchronization. Only manual. Sad story. By the way log screen had such a small font that it is almost impossible to read the text on SGS4.
Ideal to create automatic backups of folders on your device storage on another PC or server. The best feature is that you can choose to only sync folders when connected to specific Wi-Fi access points so you can sync different folders to different servers depending to which access point you are currently connected. Even tho the app is very easy to use, I would've liked to see more detailed help on some of the options. The developer's site which links from the Play Store also doesn't seem to function so there was no online resource either to find clarity on the settings. Seems like a good project that just ended which is a great pity! Running on Samsung Galaxy S3
If you have your own server, get this app. Just get it. Now. I now have complete control over automatic syncing of my entire 32gb local store, with separate folder configs for all/music/pictures etc. Your own personal cloud backup, how and when you want it, under your control , without mega corporations owning your data. Sublime. :)
Works great. The tasker integration works great and so far the sync engine is flawless. Just get this one.
Waste of money. Transfers 3 pictures and stops/crashes. On the FTP server it uploads a jpg file with .ftpsynx extension and not native .jpg. Half the time it says it cant connect or that there is nothing to sync. I just wish that google screened the applications more like Apple does on their AppStore.
Need proper US date format. Why not use system's date format in logging? Says no wifi is available when it is. Also says its syncing when its not. Hasn't successfully synced since I bought it. Now you happy you went out of your way to obnoxiously ask for my opinion? Buy foldersync like me instead.
Well worth getting. All my photos more sync straight from my home to the home NAS.
Works as described, has alot of options.
I compile apps MANY times a day. I use this app for automatically copying between all test devices. Works great!
Unstable when syncing, shame because the tasker integration worked well.
Easy to use and setup, but the process takes for ever.. Slowest one I've tried. But a great and simple precaution against loosing files!
Einfach zu bedienen und leicht verständlich
Very usefull for transferring data on one computer to a master, making amendments and transferring back. Lacks proper control to force 1 way transfers
Set it up for auto sync at night with tasker. Works flawlessly! Thanks!!!
I'm using this on my TF101, and I've got it set up to sync multiple folders over SMB filesharing. It's working perfectly! Subfolders sync too, and 2-way sync works great, with the most recently file overwriting the older one, no matter the source. Worth the money spent!
I can not see folders of a registered FTP server (both an online FTP space and my NAS). It only work with my NAS as Samba. The sync engine is fine and works as a real 2-way sync although it does not delete deleted folders leaving them as empty folders. Any way a very good start!! Keep improving.
Synchronisation very slow and not working. No log or progress bar can be found to confirm sync status.
Does not work for sub directories. No way to understand why it is uploading or downloading. I'm using galaxy tab and iomega dx mediaserver on smb.
Excellent app.Allows scheduled remote backup of particular dirs to an ftp server.Would be even better if you could specify a file mask to synchronise.

Font is too small for high res phones like my droid Turbo. Also never could get SMB connection to work at all. SFTP works well. Docs are a little thin, you have to figure out some bits for yourself. All in all works well and seems to be keeping my data in sync.
