About SmartBotSL

Second Life® messaging and chat app

It features a contact list (independent of your Second Life friends list) which enables you to send messages to any resident. You can add contacts by searching for their name, or by adding them from within the region tab, if they can't be found in search.

You can use the robot as proxy to communicate in public chat with anyone in chat range within the region you've rezzed the robot in. The robot can be remote controlled to goto/follow avatars in the region, to move around randomly or to go back/stay at its home position.

Residents can also page you by touching the robot and entering a message in a textbox. Optionally your phone can vibrate or play a ringtone when someone pages you. The pager feature can be restricted to only notify you when selected groups in your contacts list pages you, or optionally when anyone pages you (e.g. customers of your shop or visitors to your home).

When it's idle the robot can move around on your parcel or region and greet visitors with a message you've set within the app.

You can also use the app to see how busy and laggy your region is while you're not logged into Second Life. It will tell you when the region was restarted and keep a log of pager messages until you connect to it again. If the robot has the necessary permissions you can use the app to kick and ban residents from your parcel or estate.

To use this app you need to have the little robot rezzed in a Second Life region. It needs 11 prims, but it comes with modify permissions so you can change its looks.

A time limited free trial version of the robot is available on the SL marketplace
https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/SmartBotSL-DEMO-Smartphone-App/3254689

This is not a Second Life client and it does not require you to enter your Second Life credentials. Any messages you send will appear to come from an object (the robot, which can automatically change its name when you chat and send messages), not from an avatar.

If you have any questions or suggestions, write an instant message in Second Life to Azurescens Herouin.

It's cheaper than some of the competitors and works just as well. It would be awesome if it showed if the people in your friends list were online or not.

things i would like to see, less crashes, less freezes while waiting on connection to bot [background data transfer and caching] and a nice sim map with avatar locations would be nice to help see if folks are at my store.

To follow up on the comment from the Creator I can't believe that anybody is stupid enough to think that a generated pin from the smartbot is the same thing as your sl password I trust you dude and thanks for the laugh at the expense of the idiots who think you're trying to hack their account XD

The demo of the SmartBot works fine for me. There was only a few seconds delay between the time someone sent the test message and the time of receipt. I have used two similar bots before but they couldn't connect through Android. Now if we could also get this for other grids than Second Life... :-)

Maybe the guys who rate this product bad should read the description of what this app actually does. You need a SECOND LIFE account to even REZ the bot and get the PIN from it. It is not stealing accounts as at no time you are asked to enter your SL password. The PIN is generated by the bot and has nothing to do with your SL login credentials. After you got the bot from the Second Life Marketplace you have to unpack it and rez it. The URL to the Marketplace was and is mentioned in the description. Then attentively read what the bot tells you. It explains itself. To boot it you simply have to click the bot. Then it will tell you your PIN. If you don't know what Second Life is then don't download this app and rate it bad "because it doesn't work"! And if you have a problem with the bot and app, then message me inworld in Second LIfe, as the description says.

I really loved this at first, but then it kept crashing on my Note 1 and Note 3. It would cause other apps to stop working as well. Had to reset the scripts quite often in Second Life as well. Good idea, just hasn't been updated or supported since 2012.

I downloaded and opened the app. It ask for a pin given by the "bot." What bot where? Uninstalled after search for half hour.

I didn't even test the app, but felt compelled to counter the app makers own rating on this. Bring it back down a bit since he rated it five. Obviously, this isn't even worth any one's time since the only person to rate it anything other than one star is the creator of the app. Probably just trying to steal accounts. User beware!

keep working on it please! ok I see the potential in the app. you have to drop the bot on your land and make sure it's in the same group as the land and then touch it, it will give you the pin, you have to read the notices that pop up on your screen. I like that it's modifiable so I can change to look of it. I'm going to contact dev cuz I can't get the android app to connect over either wifi or data.. but it's probably me...
