Cruelty-Free for Android
It's not very help full. The website works better, than the app. I'm sticking to the website of this!
This app is nice but some of the brands on here are only part cruelty free. For example, brands like Burt's Bees and Seventh Generation were bought out by parent companies who do test on animals and the app doesn't make the distinction for those who don't want cruel parent companies. It's nice, needs work but I'm sure the app will improve.
1. We should know the parent companies of products and if they are cruelty free or not. 2. When you select vegan it should actually come up brands with all vegan products. 3. Or have a 100% vegan brand option as it would be nice to see other brands that may have some vegan options. 4. A brand should not be classed as cruelty free if there parent company isn't. 5. Brands should be vegan or have high majority of the products vegan and are switching the rest over to be considered cruelty free. 6. We can't select by country or vegan etc. 7. Some information is out of date. 8. Brands what claim to be cruelty free and don't have any evidence of China you should try to get them approved. 4. Is because profits go to parent funding animal testing. 8. I will contact all the brands to try and see if they will get approved.
The scanning function absolutely doesn't work for me. Makes using the app not as fast, because then I have to use the search function. Will try to restart phone, but I doubt it will help.
The Leaping Bunny is a certification that has really high standards. People review this app poorly because they don't see their company, but that is because they are not Leaping Bunny certified. Because of recent laws in China requiring all imported personal care items to be tested on animals, many long-time cruelty free companies are no longer really cruelty free. Many companies say they are but on their websites say "cruel free unless required by law" which means they still sell in China.
Great app. If your product does not appear on the list or it is not the best option for your country, don't be a loser by giving an idiotic rate. Stop buying products to companies that used to test their products on animals too, you just appear to be slow.
At the end of the day if you want to be 100% sure about any product just email the company direct and ask them if they sell their products in China, if they do then boycott them because by law in China all products have to be tested on animals :(
Very helpful with lisiltings in order of products. Info is great to have but is holey on Parent Companies, products for children and if they're whole Cruelty Free. You can't truly customize logs from what I've seen either.
This app definitely works to help you learn which products are cruelty-free. If your product, that you scan, doesn't pop up, it's because they test on animals OR they send it out of the country and have someone else test it on animals. Now is the time to teach companies what we need... only cruelty-free products everywhere!! And this is one app that will help. :)
Good app but very limited. I'm in the UK and it's hard to find cruelty free products, and this app doesn't help me as it doesn't list companies from the UK. Maybe an app specific to region would be more beneficial than one which hardly covers anywhere...
So, I specifically scanned products listed on this app, and every single one said "no longer cruelty free." I scanned Seventh Generation, Hello, Tom's of Maine, Bert's Bees and Mrs. Meyers Clean Day. So are they all testing again, or is the app faulty?
The very first time I scanned an item, the app crashed. Tried it a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th time on different products and it crashed. Very disappointing.
It's ok. I prefer Bunny Free, it tells you which ones do and don't test on animals, gives their "parent" company names and their website links. It's also a PETA friendly app
I love this app. It's the company I trust the most to make sure I am buying completely cruelty free items. And there is so much to choose from.
Not fully working search for items and nothing opens and the bar code scanner does not work .. A nice app shame it doesn't work to its full potential...
I have very clearly marked leaping bunny approved produce. I have scanned it just to check this app works accordingly. Apparently the product doesnt exist !
It doesn't recognise the products I scanned. You need one for the UK and other countries. Vegans aren't just in America, they is all over the world.
I scanned various products some of which I know for a fact are cruelty free and the products were not listed. I scanned Pond's, Gold Bond, Shea Moisture and Thayer's and not one was listed in any form. I'll be uninstalling.
The scanner doesn't recognize any of the products that I scan.
Cant ever scan and find a product without the app crashing
Scanner almost never works. No searched brands ever come up. Easier and more reliable to Google it.
Doesn't work waste of time good idea but shame it's crap doesn't find anything you scan or type in
I scanned a Human ❤ Nature product which is cruelty free but it isn't in your database so.... ????
The barcode scanner needed to be installed as a separate app, didn't have a UK product I was looking for. Poor search mechanism. It's a great idea but it's not a good app
Would be good if you could 'bookmark' or 'add to favourites' on brands you scan through and want to remember later
Scanner doesn't work.....and it doesn't have anything I search for
Scanner NEVER finds products, even Acure which is on the list, but scanner couldn't find it?
Utterly useless in the UK.
May I suggest that if you are making it available in more than countries than the US that you expand the products. I'm in GB and for many products this app is useless as they're not in your database!
A lot of reviewers are complaining that the app couldn't find the product they were scanning... There's a reason for this. It only finds companies that ARE cruelty-free. If the app did not find the company of the product that you scanned, it is because that company tests on animals. Their website might say they don't, but check for the loophole that says "unless authorities required it for human safety or regulatory purposes" or something similar. When they have stated that loophole, it means they still test on animals. I thought l'oreal was cruelty-free, but it didn't show up when I scanned my shampoo. I went to their website and found out they have the loophole stated in their animal testing statement. I learned something today, and I'll be looking for a different brand of shampoo and deodorant.
It offers no localisation for me in the UK. Where are Superdrug and M&S in the list? It does not mention that Body Shop is owned by a cosmetics company that tests on animals. The search feature is useless.
It's good but with the list or companies, it would be easier to use if the app had the logo of each company next to the name so you could recognise them more. Rather than just depending on the title.
I absolutely love apps that are informative. I am against certain makeup products that are made out of animals. Cruelty to animals is a no no. I love this app ALOT!
Iv scanned lots of things, some that claim to be buav approved and just other normal products but when i can them it keeos saying product not found on everything, i do think its a brilliant idea and i really wanted it to work
I scanned a Human ❤ Nature product which is cruelty free but it isn't in your database so....
Help stop cruelty to animals!
I tried to search Physicians Formula and Formula 10.0.6, which are both cruelty free and neither came up
Need to update database
Couldn't find information on basic products.

Won't update. There's apparently a new update but I can't see it so this is years out of date for me... Edit: I contacted them on Facebook. It took days of messaging back and forth, but the developer fixed whatever the issue was! Thank you!
