About Clarity Keyboard Beta

The Clarity experiment has reached its end for now - this project no longer has a development team working on it. We learned a lot from Clarity. Several of the ideas that it allowed us to explore will get rolled into our other keyboard products and many have inspired new ways of thinking and building products here at SwiftKey. Thanks to everyone for trying it out and providing us with your feedback - we’re grateful to you all.

** This app is part of the SwiftKey Greenhouse beta program - it is unfinished/experimental software. To try other SwiftKey Greenhouse projects go to https://swiftkey.com/greenhouse/ **

I'm sad this experiment is over! This is still my favourite keyboard, bugs and all. I'd love to see a "clarity mode" in SwiftKey. Also: your app description for beta tests should have a link to wherever you'd like bug reports sent.

Had this for well over a year, and it would type much faster than standard LG and Google setups. Only issue was that it goes bonkers if you backtrack too much. Otherwise, I think I may have to drop it because it may not be getting along with Marshmallow and battery life now. Not perfect, but insanely good.

I can't wait to see this keyboard developed into a more fluid and seamless program, but in the moment, even in beta, it's an amazing keyboard. Everyone has gotten so used to predictions being shown above the keyboard and we have all struggled with trying to get our keyboard to autocorrect to the right word. With this keyboard there's no guessing. Just type and the keyboard knows exactly what you want to say! No predictions needed! 5 stars all the way!!!

Finally came back to using this keyboard after the latest update. It has always been the best keyboard for auto correcting mistakes, but for a few releases it would crash and freeze often. After this week's update it's pretty much flawless

X70%
by X####:

This is a great idea but it has absolutely no idea how I talk, and correcting it is cumbersome and slow. Also the size on my tablet is very strange. It's like it thinks my tablet is huge when it's not that big.

T70%
by T####:

I like it so far. Auto correct is awesome, it just needs a halter feed back feature and I think I have found my new keyboard . Update :04-04-16 almost a year later and still no haptic feedback function. For the love of all things holy why not?

N70%
by N####:

Really like the layout, but it really needs to have swype and voice features to be my regular keyboard. Really like that the keys are larger as well. With a few added features this would definitely replace my current LG g3 smart keyboard.

Q70%

I like the functionality of real sk but once they work out the bugs this could be a really powerful lightweight keyboard. I'm really missing long press punctuation.

Q70%

It actually picks the correct words ...slightly less accurate recently maybe

I find the current keyboard to be rather bland, and need more customizablility options. You can implement swipe gestures to make typing easier. I like your prediction engine, it's is much more superior to the Fleksy prediction engine. However the lack of the above options prevent me from making this my full time keyboard. I would prefer if the keys were a bit more spacious, and not so cramped.

Q70%
by Q####:

I don't understand the low rating from everyone else..... Yes I've used SwiftKey for the past few years and it knows how I type and what will be coming next but this keyboard doesn't even know me very well and still does a great job at predicting. I can't wait to see where this goes as it's a minimum keyboard along with great predictions. The only thing I wish it had was swipe left to delete the word. I know it's only the beta but this would make the speed of deleting my terrible typing faster.

R70%
by R####:

It automatically adds spaces after many of the punctuation characters. I type a lot of thing such as IP addresses, host names, and email addresses that contain these characters and thus incur a huge slowdown in my typing since I need to keep removing these spaces.

Q70%
by Q####:

It's a shame this is no longer being worked on. One or two more features like long press options and emoji and this would by far be the best keyboard on the store. Prediction would be nice, but really it isn't even needed with how well the correction works.

Q70%
by Q####:

This new update broke everything. Complete unusable. Turn my screen sideways and it so big I only see 3 letters. The print is so small now. My fat figures that every letter around the D key. Besides the. key

Q70%
by Q####:

Auto correct seems to be based on 2 words to decide which word it will be auto corrected to & gives weird results esp if we don't have a prediction bar like Swiftkey does. So correcting auto corrected words now is a real problem and makes the keyboard unusable.

P70%
by P####:

I like this keyboard very much and it's prediction of what I type are nearly always correct even though I tap fast with my fat fingers. My only criticism is it is taking forever for any kind of updates to this beta like newer features and improvements to happen for us to test. Also keyboard is still bugged and often fails to respond for 5 seconds or more when opening chrome browser and other apps.

.. Will rate it appropriately when the London based company caters for their home country. Very strange. Please remove me from your email list. I have enough rubbish coming from the US as it is.

Q70%
by Q####:

Okay it's very fast. But isn't there any word prediction ? whsre is other languages ?

Q70%
by Q####:

Solved my fat finger problem. Best keyboard I've used. But no speech to text button makes it useless to me since I use that half the time.

T70%
by T####:

It is so poor. You have no customizability, no "feedback" (I mean, I like to feel vibration/sound) and no support for other languages. I understand that this is a beta, so I'll track its progress. Keep working, I'm sure you'll do something great with this!

G70%
by G####:

Last time my biggest problem was with the keyboard being so big on the Note 3 screen. They have scaled it down quite a bit which is nice, but it still would be better if they just made it adjustable. It could also use the SwiftKey feature of holding down buttons to access other keys. It's finally getting to a usable state, but still has a lot of improvements to make it perfect.

This is the best keyboard I've ever used on android and that is saying alot considering it's a beta and has bugs. I hope this updates with better performance

Q70%

Has some hiccups, however it is a nice start. I am a flow type person, however, so this probably isn't for me, but I like this for a regular typing experience. The multi word auto correct is pretty cool.

Q70%
by Q####:

I've been testing it for a few hours, but I couldn't keep up with it. You guys have a good start, but it's time to implement some SwiftKey Features. I'm eager for your updates! I liked that you guys removed the "key miniature" when I type something. That thing is annoying. Add support to "English (UK) and add the bilingual prediction, I hate having to switch languages whilst I'm typing. The keyboard is fast, clean and I liked its look more than SwiftKey itself. And please, PLEASE, add Flow and Settings!

F70%
by F####:

This keyboard comes up with ridiculous "corrections" and it absolutely will not capitalize the next word after a period or other terminal punctuation. I had to apologize for texts that made no sense. I was rather embarassed by sending important texts that looked as if a first grader had written them. I'll stick to my samsung and LG stock keyboards. I can type as fast as I need to with confidence that the words will not be random and that appropriate capitalization will be in place.

D70%
by D####:

This keyboard is what I understand under simplicity and and clarity, it is a easy to use keyboard without any fancy emojis, flow, millions of settings nor damn themes you can choose from. I love this keyboard as my daily one since the last update, I type quick and rely on predictions and the right corrections and so far it has not disappointed me in any kind of way. This keyboard is just amazing and should be used by everyone who's more into fast typing and doesn't need all those fancy features.

Q70%
by Q####:

But last update has the keyboard way too small for the 6"4 screen Sony Xperia Z Ultra... .Which is more of a small tablet than a phone and Clarity assigned it a phone size keyboard. Please classify this device as a small tablet. ALSO: 1.back swipe to erase an entire word, 2 voice input 3.larger letters/ characters and 4. question/period accessible via the period key as on SwiftKey.

E70%
by E####:

Some predictive keyboards do a really great job at guessing what you are trying to say. This is not one of those keyboards. First, Clarity introduces random spaces between words and punctuation, and won't let you delete them. Also often words typed with Clarity become "locked" and uneditable without deleting an entire sentence which is frustrating as Clarity often replaces your typed words with random words it thought you meant.

Let's remember the purpose of this keyboard - simplicity and clarity. It isn't meant for those who use emojis or other "fun" aspects of messaging. This keyboard strips the things that use the memory that could otherwise be dedicated to an excellent and simple typing experience. Is it there yet? Not quite. But this version is almost to the point of keeping Clarity as my keyboard of choice.

Q70%
by Q####:

After the recent update the tablet keyboard is now too small (smaller than the one on my phone). Also still freezes at too many inopportune moments. Back to SwiftKey for the time being - a shame as I was getting used to it. Will keep an eye out for future changes

O70%
by O####:

The autocorrect seems to work very well, but it's just too simplistic for me. I like the predictions in SwiftKey much better, so I'll stick with that, but Clarity definitely has potential to be the best, simplistic keyboard.

Q70%
by Q####:

It's much more intuitive than SwiftKey but it's lacking because it doesn't have Flow. I find I save a lot more time with SwiftKey because of the Flow function and wish I had that here on Clarity.

Q70%
by Q####:

Almost great. But in the end I prefer stock Android keyboard. What's missing is the ability to easily access punctuation (eg hold .) and easily access voice-to-text (mic)
