SVOX UK English Victoria Voice

Makes voice navigation sound so much more pleasant & less robotic than Google's default voice. I also like that it can accept corrections for the occasional mispronounced words, unlike competitors like Ivona. I replaced Ivona with SVOX because I hated how Ivona mistakes interstate highway names like saying 'I minus 85' instead of I-85, and then had no way of correcting it. SVOX gets this right by default, but also can be correted when needed.

Every time I open the app it unfortunately stops. Furthermore I reported at a half a dozen times and apparently they don't keep seem too concerned about fixing the problem. In my humble opinion this app sucks balls!!!

Do not waste your money! This NEVER works! It only crashes! Absolutely NO acknowledgement from the developer! P.O.S. mean anything to you bone head developers?! I have a Samsung Galaxy 4S Change your name to RIPOFFS INCORPORATED! ! !

I just got a new phone and am unable to install voice data. Plenty of space available and I'm on WiFi. Error is "the voice data failed to install. Please make sure three is an active internet connection and try again."

I have had this a long time and it was great. Now every time i go to open it it says svox has stopped and throws me out. USELESS like that.

This doesn't work with Android version 4.4.2(kitkat) you will find no mention of this on their documentation. You will find complaints about this fact all over the net. No technical service either.

I know its all about compatibility, and many many phones out there... I would appreciate it if this problem is resolved before I upgrade my phone onto the next one... When its needed.

Loved this and used it forever. Sadly just force closes over and over on the galaxy s4. Tried reinstalling 9 times no go. Really liked this when it worked.

Victoria is a lovely voice and have enjoyed it on Copilot for years but she will not install on my new phone despite having paid for it. I miss her.

I bought a new phone and it will not install the voice data. Tells me to make sure I have a good data connection. I have both and still no success. I loved this app but now what?

The SVOX Dutch Jan Voice seems to be working fine but I am unable to switch to SVOX UK English Victoria with the Google Play Books. I am able to switch on FBReader with the TSS plugin anabled.

This app worked great until recently it just stopped. All my efforts to contact the manufacturer have failed. They have not responded to any emails. I've tried to contact Google and they were useless. I've now got an app that I loved and that I paid for but simply doesn't work on my new Motorola droid turbo. As of 8/7/16 for Google Navigation it will not use 3rd party apps like this. If you choose UK English for your phone Google will use a UK English voice but it's never this Victoria.

Doesn't work on Android 5.1.1. When launched it displays a message and crashes. Plz fix I use to love it. Thanks

Loved it with my old phone. Now it just stops when opening. Reported this several times but no joy :(

Can we get some ethnic diversity with the English speaking voices, last time I checked both the US and UK were filled with a rainbow of people, no offense,but the majority of the voices I hear on the tv or radio are anglo-saxon, its dull with out variety.

Worked great on my evo 3d but now upgraded to the S4 and the app keeps crashing. Anyone have any ideas?

The voice is nice, but I cannot use it since it crashes all the time.

Here's how to make it work in Google navigator until Google fixes the way Maps picks voices. Go to application manager and pick all apps. Select Google text to voice engine and select disable. Then it will uninstall. Don't worry you can install back in play store if needed. Make sure you have svox selected under language and input, text to speech.

I was beginning to get jealous about not being able to find a good siri clone for my android when i found victoria. It's like having a british maid in my pocket waiting on me... Now if she can read my ebooks.

Shortest use ever. During download said it stopped working and that was that. :0 ( if I un install and re-install do I get charged again??? How annoying.

This used to work, back in the days of ICS, but since Kit Kat it's been useless. Oh, and spare me your snarky remarks about Google maps being the issue, my phone IS rooted, and this Vox still does not work. I honestly wouldn't care if it DIDN'T work in maps, I would just like it to be the default voice for all phon e features. Either way, crashing on open is a major disappointment.

but the British Google voice is better quality now than SVOX even if Victoria has a more unique voice. Also doesn't always work and switches back and forth with Google TTS regardless of phone settings. I used this primarily with Google Maps and I'm not rooting to make SVOX work right. If they improve, enhance and update their product then I'd be happy to switch back to them again.

I've tried them all, Ivona is good, maybe better so giving this 4 1/2 stars, but Ivona less "flexible" in terms of responding to "difficult" material due to the huge size of the files, so Vcky, overall, gives the most comprehensible, pleasant sounding voice there is for the tasks I do, BUT there's no support after sales for one of the key features -- how to modify pronunciations for particular "words" -- key to my technical reading of acronyms -- like SSRIs -- combination of acronym and plural -- so have to downgrade rating recently.

I have tried for months to get Victoria voice back... Ever since last Google Maps update it doest work... If I delete the last Maps update, maps doesn't work. You need to make this compatible with maps.

I wish people wouldn't give this bad ratings just because it isn't immediately working in Maps. The reason it doesn't work is a Google Maps issue - not an SVOX issue. If you want this to work for Maps, you may need your phone to be rooted. What I did was make a backup of all Google TTS & Pico-related files, then remove those programs from the phone. Make sure SVOX is set as your default TTS service and voice data is installed, then restart. If you aren't rooted, I'm not sure if anything will fix this.

Ever since Android 4.4 I haven't been able to install the voice data it just crashes or doesn't work (I have uninstalled app, reinstalled, reformat device, nothing works)... what happened ?!!!!

Recently upgraded to Note 4. Unfortunately the app keeps on crashing now.

I loved having "Victoria" as my default TTS, but lately google maps is using Google TTS no matter what the S5 setting is changed to.

I purchased this on ICS and it worked great. But on JB and KK it FCs after downloading the voice files, during "checking installation."

As sexy as text to speech goes. I've always been a fan of the British accent, so much better than computer sound voice!

Worked great on old HTC phone. Now with the Samsung Galaxy S4 it doesn't stay open for more than 5 seconds. Please fix!

It's not working with latest Google maps, even though i've set Svox as default TTS on my phone nexus 5 the google maps is still overriding and using it's own tts pls fix

I listened to samples of voices available and this one was by far the best, so I buy it, install the app. Now every time I open the app it immediately shuts down and I can't do anything. I have tried un-installing and re-installing and it still shuts down before I can set it. Very disappointing.

Used to love thus. Now can't install except to a usb drive or micro sd? Why do I have to install to usb or micro ad? Why can't I just install it into my phone? This has never happened before to me.. please fix..
