Kuberakolam (also written as Kubera kolam) is a certain magic square of order 3 constructed using rice flour and drawn on the floors of several houses in South India. In Hindu mythology, Kubera is the god of riches and wealth, and it is believed that if one worships the Kubera kolam as ordained in the scriptures, he/she will be rewarded with wealth and prosperity.[1] A Kubera kolam is also a creation in the form of a kolam which is a form of painting that is drawn using rice powder /chalk/chalk powder and colored powders in many places in South India. A kolam is basically a drawing composed of lines and loops, drawn around a grid pattern of dots.
Kubera (Sanskrit: कुबेर, Pali/later Sanskrit: Kuvera), also spelt Kuber, is the Lord of Wealth and the god-king of the semi-divine Yakshas in Hindu mythology. He is regarded as the regent of the North (Dik-pala), and a protector of the world (Lokapala). His many epithets extol him as the overlord of numerous semi-divine species and the owner of the treasures of the world. Kubera is often depicted with a plump body, adorned with jewels, and carrying a money-pot and a club.
Originally described as the chief of evil spirits in Vedic-era texts, Kubera acquired the status of a Deva (god) only in the Puranas and the Hindu epics. The scriptures describe that Kubera once ruled Lanka, but was overthrown by his demon half-brother Ravana, later settling in the city of Alaka in the Himalayas. Descriptions of the "glory" and "splendours" of Kubera's city are found in many scriptures
Lord Kubera is the Hindu god of wealth, and pleasing him is an essential factor in being able to succeed in businesses, and investments. You can pray to Lord Kubera along with your daily routine. It is usually advised to appease Devi Mahalakshmi along with Lord Kubera, so that your life may be blessed with wholesome prosperity.
