About ForceDoze

ForceDoze is an app that forces Doze mode right after you turn off your screen. Instead of waiting for the default time period (30 mins), Doze kicks in immediately. ForceDoze also disables motion sensing, so Doze doesn't activate while in your pocket or while the device is moving with screen off, giving far more battery savings than standard Doze functionality. ForceDoze also allows you to whitelist specific apps so they don't get suspended or disabled when Doze mode is active. If your device OEM has disabled Doze on your device, then ForceDoze can enable it for you.

Features:

• Force enable Doze right after screen off or after a user-specified delay
Disable motion sensors so Doze doesn't periodically poll the sensors to check if the device is stationary or not. You can turn this off if you experience issues with sensors
Keep motion sensors enabled but prevent Doze from suspending during movement
Whitelist apps so they don't get fully suspended/disabled when Doze mode is active
Block apps so they don't run in background and eat your battery while your device is Dozing
Block app notifications so they don't spam your device with battery-draining notifications while your device is Dozing
Modify Doze parameters to fully take control of how Doze works on your device
Tasker support (enable/disable ForceDoze, change settings and add/remove apps from whitelist)
• See at what times the device has entered/exited Doze mode and the battery percentage at that time
Disable Internet access during Doze to maximize standby times
• Enable Doze mode on your device if your device OEM has disabled it
No-root mode so you can use this app without root privileges (Requires you to execute an ADB command from your PC to grant it the `android.permission.DUMP` permission (and additionally `android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS if you're on Nougat), instructions inside app and app description on Play Store)

ForceDoze requires ROOT. If you do not have a rooted device, please execute the following command via ADB on your PC:

"adb -d shell pm grant com.suyashsrijan.forcedoze android.permission.DUMP"

Additionally, if you're on Nougat and not have a rooted device, you also have to execute the following command, in addition to the command mentioned above:

"adb -d shell pm grant com.suyashsrijan.forcedoze android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS"

After granting the permissions, restart the app. You will then be able to use ForceDoze without root. If you do not execute the command, you will not be able to use the app without root.

Frequently asked questions:

Auto-rotate/brightness doesn't work after turning on the device
Please turn on Auto-rotate/brightness fix in the app Settings. If that doesn't work, the best thing you can do is to turn on Don't disable sensors on screen off in the app Settings.

I have trouble getting push notifications from apps (ex: GMail)
Only high-priority push notifications are delivered while the device is in Doze mode, normal-priority notifications (ex: from Gmail) are delivered during the Doze maintenance window or when you wake up the device. This is standard Doze behavior and it cannot be changed

My device doesn't turn on and I have to restart my device to fix
This is most probably being caused by disabling motion sensors, pretty common on LG devices. To fix, turn on Don't disable sensors on screen off in the app Settings or use the Xposed option

After two days of use, I can report no negatives, and my battery settings are predicting three days' battery life. It's unlikely to last that long, because at some point I'll use it like a smartphone and not like some old Nokia, but already I can see the difference when my phone's been sitting a while in my pocket. Great work. And thanks for the non-root workaround.

Your app make my phone colder like a beer! (LG G4 users knows how hot this phone has). I was using Greenify and make a nice job. But, I was scared when I read a review about it (data stealing or something like that). Just one thing: '#' always in my statusbar since start to use the app. Is normal? I'm using Lineage OS 14.1 Android 7.1.2 (G4 H811).

This saved my S7 Edge (Snapdragon) from having awful battery life... Sitting on 51% right now with 4 hours SOT thanks to this app

VZW Galaxy S7, since update to Nougat a couple features don't work properly. Auto Brightness and rotation can't grant access, also doze still turns off sensors even though option is checked. Removed a star until these can be fixed.

Non root user. I did the adb command stuff, and now my phone lasts 3 days without need to be charged. Just one thing: sometimes it does enter does, sometimes it just don't, even if phone has been asleep for many hours

Q70%

I'm not sure if it is thanks to this app. But my standby time is enormous now. The phone can be idle for hours with 0% energy used.

Great up. Just one issue, or maybe it isn't, but when I put an app in the block list, the shortcut of that app disappears from my homescreen.

Not quite sure just download the app so cannot say it works or doesn't work

Works sometimes but mostly keeps my phone awake somehow and then drains the battery. Thus, it does the opposite of what it is supposed to do.

Beautiful app ! I am far from fully learning what to do with it, but the results are, so far, staggering.

I'm still getting notifications from non-whitelisted apps. [CORRECTION] What amazing response time from the developer. Thanks!!! You answered my concern perfectly.

Q70%

Just the same as the previous version. Works but does not disable motion sensors. They are disabled first when installed but within 24 hours it stops working. Back to greenify. Their doze on the go works and that's the key factor for me. I've tried contacting the developer but no reply. In the end it is all about support

G70%

It’s a great app, I like the persistent notification showing how much battery was drained during screen off/doze also. The app claims to be dozing more than it actually is though, checked GSAM battery monitor and it dozes on and off but the app stores it as a continuous doze session. In general, really solid app though and saves me a tonne of battery.

Love the new update. You seem to have removed the option to activate doze on unsupported devices. ForceDoze version 1.3.7 was able to activate doze on my custom 7.1.1 ROM when it had both the deep and idle flags set to false; so I don't think the code would require much refactoring. Any reason why you've removed it though?

Q70%
by Q####:

Actually works! BUT! I don't think current version is reporting "Doze" correctly. It does actually save battery as if Doze is working, but when I look at battery stats (inside ForceDoze, or in GSam) it doesn't seem Doze takes effect right away (I did enable this in settings). Maybe its a bug? If the dev can fix or help me understand this issue, I'll definitely bump the rating to 5 stars. DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ANY OTHER DOZE APPS!

Q70%
by Q####:

It seems to work after giving it perms via ADB but I did have to reset it and give the permissions back as several options became greyed out. Not sure if this is due to this being a Note7 or not. Also, I donated but I still get prompted to donate. It might be nice to have a licensed "pro" version or a check for donation status. :)

This is probably one of the best apps you could possibly download. It is the only app in the Google Play store that can realistically improve battery life. None of the other so called "battery savers" are worth a crap. Added an average of an hour and a half of additional screen-on-time on my Galaxy S7

Q70%
by Q####:

Reports doze time since screen is off but it does not match the doze time in gsam battery monitor. So forcedoze is reporting much much higher doze time than the monitor is actually showing so I'm not sure if it's actually working. Another monitor that confirms this is greenify notifications. My phone was still on table when tested this.

Q70%
by Q####:

Splendid suppliment to marshmallow's inbuilt doze mode. I personally always thought 30 minutes too much for doze to kick in and that too only if the phone is lying absolutely still. Seriously, who leaves his/phone still for half an hour unless the person is asleep?? This app effectively takes care of those flaws. Brilliant!!!

O70%
by O####:

Great app - simple design yet very efficient. With the adb command from above it works flawlessly with my stock/unrooted Huawei Mate S (in fact it works better than Greenify). And after configuring the Whitelist, battery optimization and other options in EMUI 4 I have no issues with notifications and/or incoming calls and texts while the phone is in doze mode. Battery life has improved dramatically - especially on days when I carry my phone around in my pocket most of the time.

Q70%
by Q####:

This app is awesome! I get 2x to 3x the previous battery power! I used to be able to only use my phone from 7 am to 11 am and it would die, but now I get a little over 36 hours of normal use! Compliments the newest Android VERY well!
