SimplyText: Free Texting - SMS

So far loving this app. Suppose to be able to sync with mighty text where when you view a message on might text computer it will not show as a new message on your phone... I can not get that to work. Wish you could customize colors. Would like better if you had a choice to pick multiple text and only delete those. The voice messaging isn't as friendly. It stops recording after a second of pause, or to take a breath. I love how out works with mighty text.

Update: 7/1/2017: This doesn't work with Android O beta and I've contacted them a few times, with no response. I know I'm using a beta Operating System, but as a 26+ year IT Professional, I've offered to test, but no response. I REALLY love this app, and I miss it!! I've tested most of the SMS/MMS apps in the Play Store and this by far is my favorite! I love SimplyText and highly recommend it!! Update from 2 years later (4/20/15): I still love SimplyText more than any other SMS app out there, and I tried a lot of them!!!

Actually handles MMS (picture) messages properly which you would think would be a BASIC feature of texting apps but my phone can't even do it right. ONE THING I DON'T LIKE: custom tone is not working. Custom signature... Where is that feature exactly because i would like to use it but can't even find it.

Looks great and works well. No failed texts coming or going. Love the MightyText sync. Nice uncommon features too such as quick reply/text. Wish there were more options for customization. There is no option to delete multiple threads at once and there is an annoying vibration when doing so that cannot be turned off. An option to removing sharing buttons would be nice. Ability to archive texts. Options to remove or customize area below type message box. All in all I am impressed and look forward to it's future development.

I reinstalled this app after years of trying to use it, hoping some things would be resolved. I was able to send a photo MMS without it getting hung up, but when I went to delete a message thread by long pressing on it, the app froze as it had done many times before. Unfortunately I have to go back to my standard app until this is brought up to a higher and better functioning evel. I love Mighty Text however, its sister pc web app.

Regularly shows sent(2s, etc), but notifies unable to send in notification. which do i believe? regularly shows unsent, with red warning triangle, but if you resend, or delete txt, red triangle never goes away. a new problem... if you get numerous txts, when you either go to clear the pop up[X], or expand to the app[->], or swipe to the previous txt... it sends you another notification sound.

I would like to use this as my default text app the future I depend on is the three second delay after hitting send that Textra and other apps let you enable so you can quickly correct something before it sends easy future to add ! - thank you

Why no multi-thread select (same with related mighty text, btw)? Why do message threads pop up on random spots causing me to have to scroll scroll scroll to the bottom to see new messages? Don't need the hassle. MT fan for sure (except the ignored multi select issue) this one? Eh...

I like the ability to use Mighty Text on my PC and Android tablet and Simply Text on my Android phone. It works very well EXCEPT when dictating a text on my phone. It drops out of record mode if I pause for about 1 second or take a breath; a much shorter time than when dictating in other apps, or in the Google search bar, using the Google keyboard. This is very annoying, as it stops recording as I dictate my second sentence requiring me to start that sentence again. It might do this 5-6 times when dictating a moderate length text. This makes it more difficult to dictate a text than using the native Google SMS native application.

This app is an excellent idea, poorly executed. I am a paid user. Service from the Chrome plug in is unreliable. Sometimes it works fine. Many times not at all. I reported this to Support. They responded but never fixed the issue. I like the photo backup, the ability to delay delivery and many of the other features. But my main attraction was to be able to send SMS messages with a keyboard. The developers need to get the core functionality rock solid before expanding features further.

SimplyTexts compatibility with MightyText is great. Unfortunately, it's taken to resending picture messages over and over to my contacts, which is a huge nuisance. I'm bummed to have to switch texting apps, because this is otherwise a great app, but I'm tired of spamming my friends and family with photos.

I LOVE the integration of texting on my computer. I'm on it all day long and don't pay much attn to my phone so that is great. However, this app just doesn't work quite right. Texts either get stuck and don't send or they send multiple times. And that's just too big of a regular bug to live with. Will try this app again someday.

Its a pretty good app. The only downfall for me is that it doesn't wake up my display when a text comes in. My default app already does this without me needing a third party app to wake up the screen. I'm not seeing a way for your app to do this at this time. Without that, I can't use your app. I've tried enough third party display apps and all of them tend to be battery hogs. If this gets added in the futures I'll give the app another shot.

Not ready for prime time ... yet. I like the idea of the app, mostly because I use Mighty Text to sync/reply to text on my desktop. This app just isn't ready for prime time. I really want to use it, but had to uninstall. Here's why; Sending text messages is simply not reliable. Some send quickly, others feel delayed, others won't send at all. I experience issues most often when sending images, but plain old SMS texts will sometimes fail and I feel compelled to watch the app like a hawk until they send. A common use case is that I see the "Sending ..." notification for an SMS message, need to exit the app and go back in to see if it successfully sent or failed. I don't have time for that kind of unreliability. No ability to send multiple photos in a single text. I'm sure that's an upcoming feature, but it's not in the app as of this writing. I really want to install this app again, just needs to be a bit more stable and reliable.

I keep getting an error message every time I send/reply messages. Otherwise I find this app very useful. If this error gets fixed and stop crashing then I can give 5 stars

Great app, just one complaint: the side swipe delete feature is way too sensitive; it deletes messages without even trying. Please fix. Thanks for the good work, I use mighty text in all my devices.

There's a bug that was consistent with this app when I used it over a year ago where the phone screen would black out sometimes and then sort of flash at me, temporarily locking my phone up. I uninstalled. This was when I had a HTC Droid m9. Recently I changed to the Samsung Galaxy s7 and decided to try the app again hoping they fixed the issue only to still have the same problem. I can't tell you exactly what's causing it or how to reproduce it, only that it is extremely frustrating.

First, I only tried this application out due to me using MightyText and having a pleasant experience with it thus far. I have (and continue to be) satisfied with my current texting application (Textra). Im going to give three stars on this at this point in time. I feel that this app could be much better, and the things it lacks will likely come in future updates, but it's a little "young" at this point in time.

Reliability of sending and receiving in combination with MightyText using Android 7 is shaky at best. The phone and computer don't stay solidly connected like it used too. But still a great program.

When I first installed this it worked great. I changed to Samsung Galaxy edge S7 and can't see if I have a message. I missed Allie is messages because it down show in notifications or a number on the icon. Uninstalling because I just can't see messages I have.

The recurring incoming text notification is the best feature for me as now I don't miss the text message if I don't have my phone when the message first arrives as you can now have a repeating (every two minutes) notification! Great feature.

I installed this app for its compatibility with MightyText and it worked perfectly till recently, when it stopped working. After starting, it immediately crashes with "unfortunately, SimpleText has stopped working" message. Restarting the phone or reinstalling the app so not help. :( I will gladly re-rate this app if the problem is fixed because I really like it.

Worked pretty good needs some work text messages do not sync to phone after sending from desktop. So you get all replies to phone but none of your outgoing messages.

Very good text app. The only problem I have is it doesn't always scroll to the last message in the list. This may be intentional, to be sure you don't miss messages.

Great app! The only issue I have is that "<3" autocorrects to the emoji with the hearts for eyes. I thought, if anything, it would autocorrect to a heart, but instead I accidentally sent "hearts for eyes" to my mom. other than that, it's a good app.

I have used this app for several years on different phones. It has always worked well. It it great to see an app that does one task well, instead of trying to do sevrral poorly.

Not ready for every day use yet. Fails to send most of my messages, or send twice. Finicky when sending picture messages. Had potential to be good.

All in all not a bad app, but there are two dealbreakers: - no apparent way to switch off the stupid pop up window on new SMS arrival (switching off Heads up notification doesn't work on my device) - no way to selec tmultiple threads on the main screen? My very simple SMS app coming with the phone can do it.... come on. It even changes font size for the pinch gesture. I don't think I'd use this if it wasn't needed for MightyText deletion feature.

I like this application but it has a big problem and it is that it does not allow to send contacts with everything and the good qualities that it has that makes it be defective because every time you want to send a contact you have to switch the application to which you can send the contacts And that is very bad

I love that you have a reminder for texts BUT there isn't a text scheduler or the ability to send pics. Maybe I missed them but it kept saving my mms as drafts. Fox that and maybe make it sleeker and I'm totally in!

Great app! Love all its features and ease of use. One down side is I got a Samsung Gear S2 watch and this app does not work to update the watch to receive text messages. If I want my watch to work with text messages, I have to change the default back to Messages. Fix the app to work with the Samsung Gear S2 and it would be perfect!

It's not bad but it always resends me picture messages 2-3 days after I initially received it so I get everything twice. ANNOYING. I also wish there were more customization options.

Love the app, and the features are great. The problem is on my Note 5, if I make this the default app then it fails to download group mms messages, and they appear to be from "anonymous"! I then have to got to the stock app and tap download to get the messages. So until this gets fixed, It's more of an annoyance to use than a pleasure!

Occasionally when opening the app the app flickers a black screen and then crashes also if a message is not sent a red triangle shows up next to it and next to the name of the contact in the all text screen and even if you delete that message that red triangle won't go away please tell me how to fix that Nexus 6p

Design is very appealing. Not noisy at all. Love the simplicity. Just the perfect amount of options. I love the S symbol in Notifications. I can see it on the run but I really wish it had a number badge on icon to also display new messages. Not my number 1 but real close. Textra has that one for now

Doesn't work worth a flip. The messages are never received. I give up on Google Play texters completely. The apps that work either stop or have a catch (TextFree, Heywire, 'network/friends only') or just don't work at all.

Don't like you can't view more than 3 lines at a time. I write long messages so is impractical for proof reading. Glad someone else pointed this out too
