About SUBARU STARLINK

The SUBARU STARLINK app works as a gateway to bring added content, such as Internet radio, weather, news, and more to your Subaru in-vehicle multimedia system. When new content becomes available, your STARLINK system is updated automatically and content is pushed to your screen in real-time. Available in all 2016 and later Subaru models. Also available on selected 2015 models. Please note that the STARLINK app must be started on your smartphone before you connect or pair it to your Subaru.

2018 WRX and I have to think that maybe all the negative reviewers need to update their head units or have the app running before even getting in the car. I do that and have instantaneous response. The Magellan navigation app works from flawlessly. My wife's car with Android auto USB tethered takes 5 minutes sometimes to get going. 2018 WRX and Galaxy S8 are so far working extremely well for this app.

So far, completely useless. Great list of useful apps, however none of them open with aything other than a description of what it is supposed to do, not even a way to purchase it if that is what is required. Wife has all the free standing apps like weather and news in her 2017 Forester and they work great (I have a 2017 Crosstrek). All the blue tooth connection seems to do for me is let me use the in car phone, no weather or navigation apps, not even screen mirroring. Kinda bummed after it was built up so much. Love the rest of the car though

D70%
by D####:

Why does a developer spend his time to code it? It's absolutely useless at this moment. Please put something useful. Sport car thinks... there are so many thinks you can add. If I had an proper IDE I would write my self something interesting and useful....

What a completely disappointing app. This had the potential to be so much better. It is slow, clunky, not very intuitive and just pointless. There are only a few apps yoy can download to use on Starlink, and they're a waste of time. For the weather you have to turn on your GPS & Bluetooth, start Starlink, hope it actually connects, then navigate to the weather -which is not even in real time! I wish Subaru, or whoever they paid to create this, would either rewrite the entire thing with actual user input, or better yet just install mirrorlink or something like it. Then at least someone would it.

Will Not buy another Subaru if Mirrorlink doesn't work. 2017 Legacy will not link or even show as active with my Galaxy S5! Update 7/17/2017: No update yet??? Still can't mirror Android even though 2017 Imprezas do??

I've had better experiences with apps that steal all my personal information and send it to Russian hackers while repeatedly crashing and freezing my devices and filling all my empty storage space with gay dwarf porn. Releasing this pile of dung to the public was disgraceful. I love my Subaru, but the whole Starlink system, in car, and especially in the app is atrocious, and Subaru doesn't even seem to care. Subaru, If you want to do right by your customers, at the very least install a working mirror mod

I see a lot of complaints but everything works fine for me. I have a 2018 wrx and I'm surprised how well the gps app works. It does need more useful apps though and if they would open source it subaru would have a huge win

D70%
by D####:

I didn't use any starlink apps I only used Bluetooth streaming. After the update starlink won't work at all and I can't stream anymore. The only th8ng that does work is the battery level

With over 50 years of navigation experience on land, at sea and in the air, Subaru Starlink based navigation is by far the WORST navigation application I have ever seen. A complete disgrace of my new 2017 Subaru XV Premium (Crosstrek). Latest update years old at a price of € 1806.00. (yes Euros, not Cents...).

D70%
by D####:

Terrible app. Super laggy and slow. Bogs my phone down and drains battery life like crazy. Needs a facelift and some backend updating in the worst way. Subaru please update! The infotainment system is literally my only complaint about my Subie.

D70%
by D####:

Disappointed that Subaru has overlooked this part of their software package.

D70%
by D####:

Really have no idea how this app helps me...doesn't use phone for anything other than my Pandora list and making phone calls....two things I don't use much. Navigation, sports, weather doesn't use my phone...any app on it.. so why do I need phone link for them?

D70%
by D####:

I thought it had navigation? Very disappointing!

Man this app is too ugly. Come on guys!

It's okay need a hige update switch I don't under why Subaru won't fund

Let's get real guys, find someone who can do it correctly...

E70%

Has a learning curve. I am still learning to refine it. I like it so far.

D70%

Totally Useless.

D70%
by D####:

A disgrace.

D70%

Worst infotainment system ever built. Apps are completely useless in virtually all situations let alone being tailored for automotive hands free information. I love my wrx. I hate that it has this system. Just terrible considering other vehicles priced far less than Subarus had it figured out for 2016. Just waiting for an update that will make it right.

D70%
by D####:

Worst app ever? Possibly. Love my new 2017 Forester and I hate to say it, but I probably would have bought something else if I'd known how terrible this infotainment system was. Can have 4 or 5 bars and full charge, but it still tells me that "Smartphone data connection is poor, please try to connect again." Open the SDK in the short run, and give us Android Auto in the middle run. It's painfully obvious that you can't do this yourself.

D70%
by D####:

What is the purpose of this app? It supports other apps that either nobody uses or haven't even heard of. Spotify support would be useful I guess. If you just pair your phone via Bluetooth this app isn't even necessary. They really push this app at the dealership too. It's kind of funny.

D70%
by D####:

Wow. What to even say.... it's like they gave the job to produce an app to a bunch of 5 year olds. Slow, unresponsive, utterly lacking in any functionality. Oh, and buying a $33k wrx, you would expect the radio to be better then a Honda civic (spoiler, it's not). Garbage app, garbage radio, garbage speakers. (Fun car though;)

D70%
by D####:

There are no settings as shown in the picture for this app. It doesn't link with our Outback. We can never get things like Pandora to play. Not to mention the screen display in the Subaru is confusing at times & when something should be synced up or linked, it never works.

D70%
by D####:

Please add some instructions on how to use the apps with Android devices. I like the application but it needs more thought. It's not as easy to use as there is nothing on the web or the app itself to show you how to use the app and it frustrates us consumers.

D70%
by D####:

Just mirror my phone and quit failing. Would be so simple and you would have happy customers. Almost as unusable as your hands free voice commands is the best I can say about it. Update: terrible still

D70%
by D####:

Useless. Complete waste of time. My new Subaru has a "MirrorLink" app on the media system. Cannot connect. App just shows what the apps are that you can buy... For yours of $27 each! Come on Subaru - give us Android Auto for all existing Subarus instead of this horrid mess.

D70%
by D####:

Edit: After the update, still Won't open. I have no idea what "improvements" this update was supposed to have done. Won't even open. But I think you guys don't read these comments anyway. So much like trying to open your app I'm wasting my time

D70%
by D####:

Have to agree with everyone else. Have had a Crosstrek for 18 months and hoped the app would get better. Don't even use the app or even radio anymore except to send audio from the phone to the Bluetooth connection. Just use Android auto standalone on the phone with a mount.

Q70%

If this app was a practical joke that Subaru are playing on their customers, it is brilliant. If not, it is painfully sad that a company can treat their customers so poorly in regards to the app and display unit in their vehicles.

D70%
by D####:

This is a pseudo app created to snarl potential buyers. Subaru purpously mislead customers by misrepresenting the functionality

Q70%
by Q####:

This app hasn't worked since recent updates. I love Subaru but this app and infotainment system sometimes makes me regret my decision on buying the STI. At times Pandora doesn't respond, mirrorlink is a waste. When I ride with my friend with the Focus RS and the other with the Golf R I am very jealous when they can use android auto / car play for navigation as where I'm using my phone in a cubby hole. Also with those systems nav and apps are updated via third-party and often.

D70%
by D####:

App doesn't do... well... anything. Give us Android Auto.

D70%
by D####:

Pure garbage. People got PAID (!?!?!?) to make this thing. Don't bother trying it out. You'll throw up in your mouth.

Z70%
by Z####:

Doesn't work at all with my 2017 Forrester. Can we just get Android auto already.

D70%
by D####:

Not having this app at all would be more useful. At least you'd have correct expectations

D70%
by D####:

Is Starlink not available in Australia? The region is not available in your list and the only apps on the head unit is Pandora a day Mirror link. Please explain.
