Fine Woodworking Magazine for Android
Love having the ability for mobile FWW access but the app is bad. Force closes, keeps messing up my home screen background, some pages go black and I need to flick around to fix. WHY! I just want to read my fracking magazines
App really needs work. If a download gets interrupted, it gets frozen in "unpacking" mode permanently unless the entire app is uninstalled. Doing that means everything needs to be downloaded again. Currently I'm unable to purchase anything through the app because it keeps saying that I must sign into Google, even though I am. Both the FWW website and this app are ready crap on mobile devices. FWW, get it together guys!
Crashes constantly. Never remembers the date. Really poorly developed. There is no excuse for this. It's been broken for way too long. Considering cancelling my subscription. I guess you gotta have a freaking iPhone or iPad to get your money's worth... smh. ------ Update: Emailed FWW and complained about the app performance. The lady I dealt with said that she will reach out to the developers for an update.
Horrible app. Most of the time reverts tp grey screen. Somtimes magazine covers are displayed. Takes almost 45 minutes to download one magazine.
I have not been able to download a single magazine. I get to some percentage and the download stops and resets. Contacted customer support and they said that the problem has to be on my end. I can download the magazines on my iPhone and iPad. If you can't download the magazines, there is no point in having the app.
Downloaded and bought a magazine. Magazine won't download or open and the feedback page in the app won't submit my message to the publisher.
This app makes it impossible to get through an issue, and won't work without an internet connection.
I want a refund! Im a subscriber and I cant even access the content you have provided. This is ridiculous! Waste of money!
Seriously fww. It's 2016, build an app that works. This is a joke.
I love the idea of a FWW app, one BIG added value would be an continuously updated index of All FWW magazines
Muy buen contenido, la mejor revista de carpintería, mala la aplicación!,,,
Just a catalog no more, paid content only
Not an app its a.sales device
I have the subscription but none of the issues will download
It's great when it works! Please fix it. Google pixel.
Great content, terrible app. Horrible when traveling or with poor internet connection. Often it does not load downloaded content when offline. It needs a good internet connection to seemingly re-download cover art even though you have downloaded the entire magazine. Makes you nuts when you are on an airplane and know you already downloaded several magazines. With some back issues it won't let me purchase. It gives an error "must sign-in with your Google account" even though I'm already signed in and can download other issues. Frustrating. Take my money already! Zooming in on a page often mistakes your zoom for a click which takes you to an advertisers site. Even when offline. Awful. I wish they offer their content in Google Play Newsstand.

Great magazine but its app sucks. It crashes all the time, gives you all kinds of errors. In other words, its a piece of crap!
Torturous. 90 min. I will never see again trying to download a plan pdf to my tablet. I even subscribed. Got nowhere fast. Please invest in a good I.T person to fix this hot mess!
I purchased a digital subscription and I feel like I got robbed since I can only use this app to access it. I have yet to finish reading an issue without my screen going black and the app crashing.
Where to start... Give me a downloads tab so I can see magazines I've downloaded. Also, take me back to where I was in the magazine when I come back into the app instead of starting over. Just make it a better experience for consuming your content.
The app crashes all the time. It makes reading the magazine very painful.
After having issues in the past I decided to try the app again and now it works pretty well on my Nexus 6.
Can't adjust text size or zoom and the aspect ratio of the entire app doesn't match my device.
Most of the time it just sits there spinning. When it dies load the reading function is not user friendly
Crashes multiple times every use. Imagine if the print copy of the magazine kept closing everytime you turn the page. To make it worse, the digital copy does not download as a full PDF that is easily viewed in PDF reader. If you dig through folders in your storage you will eventually find individual pages you can open one at a time. I would not recommend purchasing digital subscription until it is whole and stand alone PDF viewable on any PDF reader.
The application continually crashes and spits me out to the main page. I also had issues with it resetting my location in the issue I'm trying to read. I also was unable to use the Help section to send a bug report to the writer. This is the only way to get fine woodworking on Android but the application needs a whole lot on polishing before it is ready for general use.
Between the flickering, the fact that it needs an internet connection to even load up and then, after some page turning, it usually freezes, this app is borderline unusable.
Works, but much instability.
Broken. Won't download issue and open it.
That's
Contacted Taunton customer service who knew of the problem, fixed the issue and advised to try again. I did reinstall and app worked fine, download of a issue was a little slow. Taunton Customer service was great, replying to my question in less than a day.
Download process is a bit flaky, mag icons flash around, weird. Takes a bit to download, so does Google Play News. Haven't figured how to save to Eternal card, neither has Google Play News. But the graphics are awesome, Google Play News-not so much. Hyperlinks in adds work very well, even on little adds. Return button actually returns you to mag where you jumped off, can't figure out what Google Play News is thinking when I hit return. The graphics are awesome. Page navigation works well. Both landscape and portrait orientation work well, total hit and miss in Google Play News. Decent page slide show along bottom. Oh did I say the graphics are awesome, super zoom and pan.
Keeps throwing me out of the magazine I am reading. Seems to be a nice app apart from this huge flaw.
Downloads stop randomly, out of memory errors, screen flickers on downloads, cant save to sd card, can't zoom in on phone (s4), needs a lot of work.

Usually I am reminded to rate. This time I did it by myself after a few minutes of torture. If I'd knew this is the way the Online subscription would be like, I would never purchased it.
Slow and Freezes, but reloads. Slow but workable.

I really do like the app. There are two important changes that I would request for the Android version. (1) A zipped resource file for each issue is downloaded and then extracted. However, the zip file is not thereafter deleted. This then nearly doubles the amount of storage the app requires for each issue. I have to manually delete each time to get space back. (2) Each issue is ~90 mb (times 2, see previous). It would REALLY help if the application and/or its resource files could have the option to be stored on attached sdcards. Personally, I have VERY limited space on my tablet (Samsung Galaxy TabS)... Less than 1GB at any time, but over 60 GB on my sdcard. Would add one star each for each update.
