This app never gets past the "extracting" part, it never opens the magazine. I purchased the magazine ONLY to read it on-line. Will be asking for a refund on the subscription. Totally useless. They should allow me to read it on Kindle or some other FUNCTIONAL reader. Garbage.

W70%
by W####:

Finehomebuilding has demonstrated they have no idea about building apps. I really am upset for paying for a subscription and was unable to get access to anything from the app. This is a garage piece of software, would of given it a 0 star rating if that was a choice.

by N####:

Android app is garbage. Will definitely cancel my subscription. Crashes more than any other app I've ever used!

V70%
by V####:

This app should be just deleted from the store. It downloads the mag as page by page pdf's, not a complete file, which makes viewing imposible.

Y70%
by Y####:

I've purchased both a subscription and individual magazines but after a few days it all disappears and they want me to restart with my information again. Unfortunately this had happened repeatedly. On my iPad, the latest version is broken and still won't open (beforehand, it lost my information too). If you are thinking about a subscription it is probably best to wait until they fix things. It's been some time thus far so don't hold your breath!

How can such a great publication not get an app to work any better than this???? If you vacant get it right use one of the other magazine apps!

Crashes within a few minutes of starting to read a magazine.

I have a Samsung Tab 2. App goes to gray screen, circle spins until I get dizzy. Don't bother with àn electronic subscription until they get their act together

Surprisingly disrespectful to Android users Entirely lacking in the basic functionality of the Apple iPad application. Examples are: inability to zoom or resize text; inability to search among available issues or within a specific issue; no paywall access to subscriptions within the application - you can only purchase individual issues; absolutely no user select-able settings - selecting the settings icon only brings up a "subscription center" page that does not offer the opportunity to purchase a subscription. As many others have already noted, frequently crashes. However you may quibble over market measure, Android mobile devices are relied on by a very significant percentage of the user base. It is really quite remarkable for any modern media company to simply say "NO" to all those potential customers. Especially when you consider what market researchers have to tell us about the consumer profiles of mobile smart device users. Pitiful actually.

Magazine is great but app sucks. Keeps crashing. Think I will need to cancel my subscription over it.

Like the fine woodworking app, this app crashes no less than five times while trying to read a magazine. Awful only begins to describe my dislike for this app.

App is just not stable, freezes all the time and when you download magazine interface flashes its very frustrating, design is ugly. Magazine content is grate but please move it to Google magazines and all problems solved.

Crashes frequently. Pictures disappear, then screens go black, then the app crashes.

This app surprised me with its mediocre performance and negligent execution. I've asked several times about an Android app. They don't advertise this app on their webpage - now I see why. Simply flipping from page to page was a chore (couldn't with page zoomed). Help section was mostly about features apparently only available to iOS users. I'm going back to print - customer service made this easy. Great mag, but app is a joke.

It crashes everytime. I can't even download an issue to read it. I specifically paid for the monthly subscription to have access to the magazines. Gonna have to cancel and uninstall app.

This app has been advertised for several years as coming soon, but it still has a long way to go. It is just a glorified pdf reader, but it can't even do that. The issues page crashes. If you do manage to get into an issue, the pages do not render and you have to reload. I would have been a lot happier a long time ago if they would have just made full issues available for download as a pdf. Instead I can't even use the website on my tablet and I have an online subscription that still has very little value despite costing $35 per year.

Just spins the wheels but doesn't go anywhere. Non-functional in any way. Typical Taunton press lack of technical competence in the electronic/online realm. Would best if the IT guys at Taunton kept their day jobs as this one doesn't seem to be working out.

Long time in coming, so somewhat disappointing considering the wait and substantial online subscription costs. Wonderful magazine (my favorite), but Taunton's business model has become very heavy handed ... feels like a street begger following me every time I access FH. Regarding the app itself ... Long download and extraction times, which are a HUGE battery drain. Weird download graphic gives the impression that something is malfunctioning with the app. Scrolling laggs. Frequent crashes. Inability to turn off the display of multitudinous pay products, nor the option to sort by date, name, etc. The thing that bugs me most is the need to read via the app only. I'm an online subscriber, so can download PDF's of major FH articles from the website. Why don't you allow online subscribers that option from the app? Having to also go to the website isn't very user friendly. Even better, why not allow us to download a PDF of a whole magazine. If it wasn't for the excellent content of FH, I would have jumped ship a long time ago, but I have stopped recommending FH because of the apparent lack of interest and loyalty to us longtime subscribers.
