Stitcher Radio for Podcasts for Android
Podcasts take forever to buffer It will stop playing without any reason and then refuse to play that episode again and a dozen other bugs make this app almost unusable. You're better off downloading your podcasts than relying on this..
How is this player sustaining a near 4* rating!? A decent choice of podcasts is literally all that it has going for it. The player itself is an embarrassment. No ffwd and rwnd functionality while the app is taking forever to buffer an entire episode; podcasts abruptly stopping at any point or skipping to an unrelated podcast for seemingly no reason; ads that play mid podcast which stop podcast playback and will just repeat when trying to then restart playback; regular crashes; electronic payment issues; unnecessary permissions and obnoxious/intrusive advertising. Literally how much of a mess does a media player have to be before it gets a 1* on here?
Garbage application. Crashes every now and then, doesn't download podcasts, it plays ads in the middle of my podcast and then it stops playing all together. Garbage. If it wasn't because of my favorite DJ putting his podcast on this garbage of an application, I would delete it. Seriously, GARBAGE.
Have not been able to use it fir days now. Have uninstalled an reinstalled several times. I just want my iphone back.
Long term user who has simply become fed up with an unreliable, buggy app. Constantly crashes. Fails to load podcast or terminates in the middle of a listen. Inexplicably stops working for weeks at a time. Has become garbage --- seek literally any other podcast app.
App stopped loading new episodes. Not the first time and hasn't been fixed in months!
Last update, the ads would end the current podcast I was listening and go to another. Now, I can't even open the app. Updated rating to 1star
What happened with the update? And what happened to the Rachel Maddow podcast? That was the main reason why I used this app.
Do not want to sign in to hear a podcast.
It's definitely the best Android app to find all my favourite podcasts, from super famous big name ones to tiny amateur fancasts. I just wish there were a way to download all the episodes of a given podcast for offline listening at once. As it is, I need to manually click "add to listen later" beside every single episode which is ridiculous. Please give us some kind of "download for offline listening" button that downloads all episodes at once!
Has something changed with the data usage in the latest version? I just got notified by my provider that my data speed is going to be throttled due to usage. My listening habits haven't changed recently, and last month the app used almost 2GB. We're a little over halfway through this month, and the app has used over 19GB!!
Update 3/2017 - There appears to be an issue where episodes marked Listen Later are not being downloaded on WiFi or saved for listening offline. Did something change with the last update This version is totally different than the previous version. I think it has a Windows 8 vibe to it. Definitely more stable with less crashing and having to restart my phone. Still learning how to navigate it, but overall it's vastly improved.
It's interface is user friendly and overall layout is great. I'm having problems with the actual playing of podcasts (pretty important for a podcast player app). It resumes episodes at a completely different place from where it was stopped/paused. Often, a podcast will simply end abruptly in the middle and skip to the next episode. Very annoying. Please fix this Stitcher. Makes me want to use another app. And I might.
I am giving this app 2 stars because I'm sick of it skipping while playing a podcast. I cannot listen to my favorite podcasts on here anymore because they will skip backwards and forward while playing, and I lose out on the story. Please fix this problem! If you do, I will gladly come back and give you five stars.
App does not support offline use if you downloaded episodes previously. App tries to connect constantly with message "Stitcher is offline, please try again" and is impossible to make message go away to allow users to listen to their downloaded episodes. I would use another app if I could find my favorite podcasts elsewhere.
The app seems ok, the widget is annoyingly mis-coded. It's visibly 1x4 but takes up 2x4 spots on the home screens. (The widget physical reserves twice the space it visible takes). Please fix!
Used to be great. I use Android and the app is endlessly buffering despite restarting my phone and uninstalling and reinstalling the app. If I leave an episode part way through and return to it, I need to hit play and pause multiple times, and then it starts over at the beginning. This has never been an issue before.
Glitch-ridden to the point of embarrassment. This stupid thing auto-played first time I opened it, so a whole bus full of people got treated to its stupid welcome message podcast. Also bugs in its search made it unusable to find and add a podcast. I wish I could give zero stars.
I actually really like this app, but it's had a couple of annoying glitches recently. Sometimes when I've paused (but the app is still shown on the notification bar) it's started up again on its own. The reverse also happens - a couple of times it's paused in the middle of an episode, also on its own. The most annoying thing though (and the newest addition), is when I start up an episode that's in the middle of the podcast's stream and it won't start up the next episode when the one I started up is finished. It just says "end of playlist" or something to that affect. So then I have to start up the next episode manually, when it should just continue on its own.
It's great but when the ads pop into an episode they take you out of the show. Like it doesn't continue playing your show after the ad. It just replays the ad over and over. The way you get back into the show is click a different show and then click back to the one you were listening to, but when you do this, it forgets where you were in the show. Very frustrating.
I used to use this app exclusively for podcast listening. But it has become an unstable junk app that just takes up space on my phone. The player skips through to the end of episodes when only part way through, won’t play some episodes at all, and some podcasts are not even available any more. Seems broadcasters are jumping ship. They need to fix their stability issues and draw back broadcasters. Until then I think I'll just use the Tunein app, it works better and I can play the missing podcasts there.
Buggy on the Google Pixel. You can't use the buttons (pause/play/rewind etc) on the lock screen or at the top from the notification panel. It won't work. You have to open the main page of the app directly to use those buttons which is frustrating. When I had a Samsung, it worked fine.
Updated and completely stopped working. I mean it barely used to work before but now it's only a white screen even after and uninstall. This is it I'm done this app has been garbage for awhile and this is the last straw.
Okay I hate ads more than the next guy, but what do you expect with a free app? Why complain about something you get for free, unless it says "ad-free". You don't like ads, download ad blocker for YouTube & there you go. Great app by the way.
Great potential, though very buggy. I was a super-user for over a year, then several months ago the product became unusable. Pros: selection of podcasts, ability to switch between listening via mobile app and desktop seamlessly. Cons: this app has always had some bugs that would inhibit buffering, though recent versions have broken playback. Very frustrating to listen to a podcast for a while and then to suddenly have to stop mid-stream. I would recommend testing the app before investing your time in personalization.
The app interrupts long podcasts every hour with an ad, but the ad doesn't return you to the podcast or where you were up to, it sends you to another one or stops. Then when you go back to the podcast you were listening to you have to start again. I was enjoying it until this started to happen. Soundcloud is better.
Long term user, disappointed There used to be no ads, I accept you have to make $. It's been glitchy recently, mid podcast restarts or skips to next show. Also, interface could be better, ie smoother transitions and less fractured experience.
Terrible onboarding experience. Just let me into the app, don't force me through 20 screens and then auto play some junk right away
Guys...WTF? used this app for 3+ years with only a few hiccups. In the last few months you have destroyed it. Constant stops for no reason, buffering constantly then saying content not available by provider. Then force stop and re start and its magically available again untill 3, 5, 14 or however many minutes it does it again. The counter says I've listened to 3577hours and 0 minutes but I can't even trust that because it stopped counting months ago. I've updated, un installed and re installed I even bought a new phone a few weeks ago...same problems. I'm so disappointed, I LOVED THIS APP BEFORE!! NOW IT'S JUST AGGRAVATING! Please fix it, Please?
SHUT OFF BLUETOOTH AUTO SYNC PLEASE. Love it, all my podcasts in one simple to use interface. Problem though is it is always running. I will shut down and close background app and it still overrides my Pandora Bluetooth connection in my truck. The app will just turn on when my phone automatically connects to Bluetooth. I hate that to the point I've been looking for new app to use. Very frustrating
What is so hard about a podcast app? Howl couldn't deliver and I paid for a year and now they are moving to Stitcher which seems even worse. I just want to be able to subscribe to a show, have it download and then I'll listen later. BeyondPod figured it out years ago. I don't want stations, I don't want it to play things automatically, I want to listen to the shows I like and not have to scroll endlessly through garbage I don't
This app is a data hog. "Offline listening" is a pretend service. If cellular data is available, the app uses it, even when you've downloaded the episode. It doesn't seem like Stitcher spends much time thinking about user trust.
Stitcher has come far since its early days. More friendly UI & tho a big app, it can be moved to ext. SD card. Just remember 2 clear cache after heavy use (like any big app) & doesn't run in the b. g. Constantly if you choose to close notifications. Very impressive.
There were some previous bugs that really sank my rating of Stitcher. Those seem to have been worked out. My only issue now is content sorting. There needs to be ways to more easily find content you like and filter out content you don't like.
My only major complaint is the ad volume is ear shattering and comes out of nowhere. I won't be irritated into paying for premium, I'll just have to use another podcasting app if this isn't addressed.
Really needs a Favorite, or Bookmark for podcasts you want to re-listen. And Search or Jump To - scrolling thru 200 podcasts to listen to older material is terrible
It's great, when it works. I know some of my podcasts are available to download because their Twitter says so, or Spotify has it ready but stitcher doesn't have it available. It also seems like the refresh doesn't always work for my favorites playlist.
Great app would have given it 5 stars until recently. It has lately been glitching numerous times during a broadcast where the audio will glitch and jump backwards or forwards 10 seconds or so
Great app with very responsive and proactive developers. Has a great catalogue of shows & a handy offline mode. There are occasional ads but they're fairly intrusive and if they'll help keep my favourite podcast app alive and well, I'm very happy to have them! :-)

I was double charged. I attempted to pay in the app and that didn't seem to go through, no confirmation anyway. Then I paid through Google. Both charges hit my account! They have not responded to my support inquiry... Not happy!
