About Model Rocket Sim
This app was created as an alternative to purchasing expensive model rocketry simulation software for my high school science class. The app is broken down into several modules or "toolboxes" which provide simple calculations for each unique portion of a model rocket's flight. The Estes Engine Toolbox is a dynamic version of the Estes Engine chart. The Rocket Simulator Toolbox combines all of the toolboxes to provide you a one-stop place to view all of your rocket's flight characteristics from launch to land. This also takes into consideration cross-wind, drag coefficients, air density, and even the acceleration of gravity (in the event you want to simulate your model rocket launch on the Moon or Mars). While the mathematics of this model is accurate to a degree, it is still a model none the less. The trajectory of this model would also be influenced by things such as temperature and atmospheric pressure as a function of altitude. These terms are not factored in (yet). There is also a metric to standard unit calculator included for all quantities used in this program.
Expected future revisions include a charting module for a visual model of your expected trajectory, a flight log for the recording of actual fight data, and an altitude tracking module which uses your camera to determine the altitude of your rocket by line-of-sight tracking. In addition, I also hope to include a section dealing with an explanation of the Physics of Flight as well as a model rocket store where you can directly purchase needed equipment straight from this app. I also plan on making continued improvements as user suggestions come in.
