About Driver Feedback™

Drive Smarter with State Farm® Driver Feedback™.

Driver Feedback is a free app that helps you self-assess your driving behaviors.

State Farm created Driver Feedback for drivers of all ages – from new drivers just starting out to seasoned professionals. Anyone can use this free app to find ways to improve their skills behind the wheel. No plug-in needed! Just lay your mobile device on a flat service or place it in a cup holder, hit record and start driving.

The app uses you phone’s accelerometer to measure and score three aspects of your driving behaviors: Accelerating, Braking and Cornering. Tips are offered to help you improve in these areas. The better you are at driving, the more you may be able to save on the wear and tear to your tires and vehicle.

State Farm does not collect your driving information, so the data recorded by the app will not affect your insurance rates. You don’t even need to be a State Farm customer to use Driver Feedback!

“One of 9 Cool Mobile Car Insurance Apps” - Alex Glenn, NerdWallet

Supports multiple users – fun for comparing your driving skills with your spouse or sibling.
Send trip results via email or SMS – great for parents of new drivers.
Compare two trips – see if your scores are improving.
View your trip in map view - see alerts for hard braking, sharp accelerating and harsh cornering.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

I like this app a lot, helps me drive better. But I don't like the the averages for my trips aren't always correct. The average of 50, 50, & 100 is not 50... correct me if I'm wrong. Unless it's done some other way please fix.

I am glad this app makes me feel like a better driver. I don't have state farm, but I heard Jake wears khakis. That's pretty cool of him. I hate this app!

This app needs u to hit record the trip, and this app cannot recognize if u r driving or not. I was sitting at my desk and hit record and it gave me a poor score for braking!!! Ridiculous. Can't rely on such an app to tell me how I am driving.

Thought I would try this app again to see if it had improved. Nope. It hasn't. Constantly shows my acceleration as severe. I drive a Prius. I would not be getting 50-55 miles per gallon if my acceleration was severe. I drive with a very light foot on the throttle and keep a close watch on the mpg gauge. Once, it showed severe acceleration as I was pulling into my garage. Too bad, I thought maybe this would be a good app to use occasionally.

I missed a point. This app will not work if mounted to a vehicle for use as a GPS. I am uninstalling. It would be useful if there were a couple of autostart options. On a specific blue tooth conection, of above a certain speed. Corresponding autostop would also bd good. Disconnect blurtooth, or stay below a certain speed for a period of tine. The speeds and time should be configurable. I keep forgetting to start this app.

Not a bad app but has some bugs. 1 - sometimes the red target symbol in the top right will be overlayed on the 3 dot setting or the share button. 2 - clicking the map button from a trip will crash the app. 3 - maybe it is intended, but it is not clear. With a score of 50 the visual bar is empty. If 50 is the lowest score it should be indicated somehow. Using a nexus 5 on android 5.1. Other than that, great idea and works fairly well!

I can never get the device to level in my phone holder in my car. The only place I can get it to do so is at an angle in my cup holder which kills my braking score.

Must be totally flat and it must not move relative to were it was placed to start. Only one driver and no easy to remove trips. There is no relevance in the scores or meaning. Marked one stretch of a trip a sledding when I was going the speed limit. Uninstalling.

Never really worked for me, plus I want it to work while doing waze, so it needs to work upright.

Can not save trips. Save button does not work. Pointless if you can't save the trip. I filled out the name and notes, still didn't work. Samsung Charge

Like another reviewer, I also had problems with it freezing when I tried to save a trip. It let me name it, and make notes about it, but I could not hit the Save Trip button (or whatever the exact wording was). I tried twice, and just gave up and uninstalled it.

My app states you must be 24 years old or less to participate. One comments below states he has driven for 24 years so he must be well over 24 years old. Don't understand why this is not stated in the download section.

I really enjoy using this app improve my driving. The submit button stocks sometimes, too. However, I just finished cycling and once at home, I backed my car into the driveway so that I could easily remove and store my bike. Backing in requires driving in the reverse direction, messing up the orientation, which results in a very low score 50. Can you change the metrics so that the system recognizes backing up? And what am I do do with this new low score? It has destroyed my average.

Kind of fun and keeps you alert of your driving. My only complaint is the app should be smart enough to know when it is plugged in and charging. I should not have to tell it to ignore low battery when it is plugged into the car charger. I also like to see an actual Exit on the app menu for quiting the application.

I once downloaded this while living in the suburbs to improve driving skills. Uninstalled it once pleased with results. Now I live more out in the country with far different types of roads and conditions. Now it's a test to again improve driving skills once again. Just gotta have some challenge if I can't do any NASCAR driving. ZOoom!

I have been State Farm Customer over 24 years this is really reliable app it does need some tinkering on underpasses and rural areas it has problems on picking up signals and also neefs tinkering on red ligjts stoppages it says trip too short. You need to work on that problem ok. I would had give ot 5 Star but your app does have flaws where aversage user has no control over within the use of app at any given time. Also it has flaws during construction routes on State Rds,County Roads,Interstate Hwys. .

App is a battery hog. One 45 minute drive to work killed 25% of my battery. Not sure why it leaves the display on the whole time it's recording. App also needs to be able to accommodate sports type cars. Every small turbo boost and initial bite of large brakes comes up as a warning. I really like the idea of this app, it just needs polish.

My scores are always higher than 50, but it's stuck at 50 regardless. Hopefully my In Drive doesn't have this issue or it could cause false readings and lower scores.

R70%

It would be better if it understood high risk times to be extra cautious like holidays, bad weather, local traffic conditions and audibly announced when those affect score scale. As it is, the uniform scoring system might give drivers a misguided impression about driving in ALL conditions. But also I am concerned that misguided users would try to obtain the lowest possible scores on purpose as a game.

Re: app accounts for drivers attempting artificially low scores. What about drivers who actually drive that way? I got just the truck I wanted, and I want it to last. I drive like old grandpa. In fact, I often wish I had a manual, so I could shift earlier to save engine wear. *testament: before this I had a GT Mustang with 5 spd. I could get 24 mpg, mixed, from a car rated for 22 hwy* So, what about people like me who thought they would D/L the app to see if we were driving as well as we thought?
