About QuickCamera
QuickCamera is a free and open source application that lets you quickly launch the camera app (normally or from the lock screen) with a simple gesture that involves twisting your wrist twice, quickly. It's the same gesture that's used to launch the camera app on the Moto X. Pull out your phone, perform the gesture and the camera app will be ready to take wonderful photos. No need to wake the phone or press any buttons.
**IMPORTANT NOTE**: You need to have Google Camera installed on your phone in order to launch the camera from lockscreen. If Google Camera is not installed on your phone, then camera might not launch from the lockscreen. I dont know why this happens, but I am looking into it at the moment.
I know many of you are having issues with battery usage and since this app is only in beta stage, some battery drain is acceptable. The app offers many options for battery saving in Settings, so please use that.
Permissions explained:
android.permission.WAKE_LOCK: Required to prevent the service from shutting down after long periods of time
android.permission.CAMERA: Required to verify if the camera app is already running or not, to prevent crashing
android.permission.VIBRATE: Required to vibrate the phone when camera launches
android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Required to start the service on startup
android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE: Required to pause gesture recognition during calls, to prevent accidental launches and reduce battery usage

Nice try, but it has a long way to go before it works like the Moto X. False triggers and inconsistency make it difficult to use. Even with different settings in the "settings" menu made no difference. Nexus 6

1) 'Run on startup' is broken. After enabling 'Run on startup' and rebooting my device, the gesture fails to work. Opening the app shows the power button as being activated but the gesture still doesn't work. Turning the power button off and back on restores gesture functionality. 2) Would like improved responsiveness by enabling 'QuickCapture' but the toggle to enable it is greyed out.

I have several camera apps on my phone. When I do gesture I feel vibration but screen doesn't come on. When I switch it on I see the OS asking which app to use in relation to gesture, but then dialogue box vanishes before I can select. So I can't use this app.

I have 4 camera apps, just set my favorite as the default = good to go. Don't forget to calibrate the twist/gesture settings for your "style"/range of motion, set it to turn on after reboot, and above all actually activate it as installing the app alone doesn't activate this amazing feature. :) ...... (CM12.1 on Nexus 6)

I've always envied Moto's twist shortcut and thanks to this app you can have it! APP is a little sensitive but this can be mitigated with the proximity sensor.

When it works, it's great, but there are many false starts, or other apps opening instead. Would love if this were still worked on and improved, but looks to be abandoned.
