About Power Track

IMPORTANT: This application will only display power cuts in the areas managed by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks. Please see the screen shots for a map of the areas covered. If you are outside these areas, please contact your energy distributor regarding any power cuts.
We aim to update our mapping system in real time where possible. Information available includes:

Fault reference number
Emergency service centre number to call for more information or to report other power cuts.
Areas affected by the network faults (by post code)*
Time the power went off
Time the next status update is due*
Time an engineer is expected to arrive*
Time the fault should be fixed*

*Where available

The app displays pins on a map overlay showing areas affected by current power cuts. Tapping on this pin gives you a link to more information about the problem. Power Track also provides a summary list of reported power cuts.

Customers can register (and subsequently un-register) to receive automatic updates on any current power cut(s). These updates include:

Time the next status update is due*
Time an engineer is expected to arrive*
Time the fault is expected to be fixed*
Confirmation that the fault has been resolved*

*When available

Note: When the fault has been resolved it will no longer be visible on Power Track and the Push Notifications will no longer link to the fault.

In normal circumstances each reported power cut will be represented on the UK map by an individual pin. Where we have a number of concurrent power cuts in a particular area a merged pin will be displayed in the centre of the affected region. When a customer zooms into this region of the map the merged pin will split out into the individual fault pins.

There may be situations when severe weather conditions occur, which affects a large part of our network area(s). In these situations Power Track will provide an update for the whole affected area rather than for individual faults.

What are users saying about Power Track

The map could do with being highlighted the other way as in your area bright and the rest covered. I know weather creats high faults but If SSE update this we won't need to phone, is this not the point in the app? Please put planned outages on it too.

Good app, really handy for the job I do.

R70%

Does what it says on the tin

O70%
by O####:

Poor updates

V70%
by V####:

Decent app. Sadly needed. Power within SSE area has been much less reliable than at our previous house. Pay the shareholders their dividends and the rest of us can put up with inadequate preventative maintenance.

C70%
by C####:

With this app I can check all the faults in my area and my office area as well without spending time on the phone. Well done!

Z70%
by Z####:

Not impressed :( We're currently in the middle of a power cut and the app reports there are no problems in the area? Phoned 105 to be told that they are aware of the power cut in the local area and engineers are way to fix the fault. So when you need the app to work in a live situation it lets you down :( *** UPDATE *** The current power cut has expanded and has blacked out a larger area and still the app says bugger all!

N70%
by N####:

Awful, no updates provided

In a widespread power outage on Christmas Eve it just gave a phone number and had no updates on the map. The app is only an good as the data behind it and that day there was none. Now that data is being added to the system for remaining faults, all seem to have the same bland words and no real information about progress on particular faults.

I was hoping for an end to the dark this year. Now it looks like starting the new year with unanswered questions.

This error has been a problem for at least the last 2 updates. No problems installing updates for other software. Still can't install updates. Error CODE 103. I CANNOT INSTALL IT. FIX IT. 29/12/2016

1 year on still faults on SSE network not on app. I use this as a telecom engineer and although its great for seeing power faults that could cause the networks to be down but it is not updated enough. Update this we won't need to phone, is this not the point in the app. Put planned outages on it too please

K70%
by K####:

Faults to supply should be on the company website rather than going to a separate app to find out what's wrong

K70%
by K####:

Was a useful app but later versions download but fail to install. New version has not fixed this problem. Edit: still not fixed.

C70%

Don't leave this running in the background, it chews through battery. For an electricity supplier ...

K70%

Great app sadly it does not cover Northern Ireland

S70%

It would be nice if there were the option to see faults that occurred over the last few days, so I can say "ahh, that's why the clock radio is blinking".

C70%
by C####:

The electrical storm has caused a number of temporary outages along the Dorset coast and as far up as Shaftesbury - red pushpins and incident numbers have been appearing and disappearing every few minutes.

Dont bother.

X70%

Consistently said "no problem at this postcode" during a four day power cut.

C70%
by C####:

App shows power faults in the SSEHydro supply areas. Been really useful at times when we have had power cuts to see what is happening.

G70%
by G####:

Good when you have POWER .When the POWER goes OFF USELESS APP BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO WIFI TO CHECK anything .And don't get a mobile signal where I am so what's the point .?

C70%
by C####:

Useless

Wish I could award 0 stars. Just spent 14 hours with no power and all this thing said on the map was "no faults" and showed an emergency telephone number. I wasted precious phone battery downloading and trying to use this thing.

K70%
by K####:

Provides phone number instead of data. No point in this app.

J70%
by J####:

Works well on my Sam GS2

N70%

Why is there no app to monitor Gas/electric bills with sse?... All the other providers have one.

Y70%
by Y####:

Dont bother.

L70%
by L####:

When we had a power cut in SN5 and had been off supply for 2hrs the problem wasn't shown in this app. When we called SSE they knew of the supply problem. Useless app if it doesn't show all the issues.

When the lights go out what better way to find out why.

Useless, had 2 power cuts both times not recorded on the app.

M70%
by M####:

Never for a minute did I think there would be an app for this, after checking my energy suppliers webpage (sse) I found out about this app. Power has now been off for 2hrs with the affected area perfectly shown on the app, time of report and expected time of engineers visit to rectify clearly scheduled for an hour's time.

M70%
by M####:

When you need it... No information. Why do they spend money on this and then don't put in any data. Crazy.

M70%
by M####:

No power for 2 days but "no faults listed".

L70%
by L####:

Does not supply power cut information if there are widespread cuts. Save your phone's battery - don't bother.

M70%
by M####:

What's the point of an app when there's no data when there's large scale issues.

M70%
by M####:

I am sat here in pitch black because of a power cut, and according to this crappy application, it says no fault found

B70%
by B####:

It's a great idea but it needs more up to date info.
