Barcode Scanner+ Simple, from Sean Owen of ZXing Team, uses the camera on your device to read barcodes of all kinds. After scanning barcodes you find on products, for example, you can discover prices and reviews for it. Or, when scanning newer two-dimensional barcodes, like QR Codes, you can access contact information, bookmarks, web site links and more inside.
This version removes or disables most functionality that require special permissions, including: send history, send barcode, scan from file, configure wi-fi, and vibration.

Scoured the web looking for decent no-extra-perms free barcode scanner. Forget it, it doesn't exist. Okay, what can I pay for? THIS. Buck-fifty. Minimal perms. VERY sensitive (I scanned a barcode off a disk drive *inside its anti-static wrapper). Nice UI, lots of different formats, *can* do things like call or product search but it doesn't *force* anything. Only drawback is you do have to orient the barcode so that its idea of "up" matches the camera's... so 4.75 stars if I could do that. (I don't give reviews often. This is worth an exception!)

This has 2 less feature than the + Plus version. Functionality works the same.

This barcode scanner does not require any of the permissions I hate to give to applications such contact lists or call history. (Corrected in latest release the following issue, correspondingly increase rating to 5) Unfortunately, the removal of the "send history" function also removed any other option to use your scans on your computer. I do wish the developer of this would have implemented a bulk copy and paste function (a very large Copy and Paste in a comma separated list) or a output to a file.

Landscape scanning on Nexus 5x, Open Source, no extra permissions, no ads... The perfect​ barcode scanner! The $1 you pay goes to WWF / Rainforest Alliance... Should be more in my opinion.
