MicrogramCaster (Chromecast) for Android
Cast .mp4 and .mkv video clips to your Chromecast - now from both local storage, SMB shares and from UPnP / DLNA Media Servers such as Plex, XBMC or Windows Media Server.
The philosophy behind Microgramcaster is simplicity, browsing media sources and casting should be as straightforward as possible.
Apart from the basics such as selecting media, play, pause and seek it also allows you to rotate the video to support playback of videos filmed in portrait format - pretty common in these days of videos captured using smartphones. Media Servers on your local network can now be browsed, including display of cover art and thumbnails. Please note that many common video formats such as avi, wmv and mpg cannot be played by the Chromecast and thus those files are hidden by default.
Please note that casting of videos from MKV containers may not work since the actual codec(s) used for video and audio in an MKV container may or may not be supported by the Chromecast.
No advertisements or in-app purchases, 100% free!
(If the cast icon won't appear or disappears, please try restarting your Chromecast, Router, Phone/Tablet or clearing the application cache. This has nothing to do with the Microgramcaster application itself, it's some intermittent bug in the Google Cast SDK)
Only rotates 1/2 way video plays upside down.
would 5* if more formats
Works great with all my dlna servers, performs well. Only thing is that my rotated videos are always upside down. Also, progress bar stays down even after being disconnected from chromecast.
It seems to work fine up to now but as got loads of options 4 putting more on it then it as got..Stuff like a playlist would be nice and to open up in folders would be great for mp4 music videos & the biggest 1 would be to steam from dropbox..keep the good work up it can only get better with hard work..
Works great. Good quality and can rotate videos.
Works great, easy to use.
