About ShareLens

ShareLens - Impossible photos made possible

This app will enable you to share your phone camera lens with nearby devices, and shoot photos from a distance.
This will make otherwise impossible photos possible to shoot. When a photo is taken remotely, it is automatically sent to your phone.

- Wildlife photography. Setup one device near a bird feeder, an animal crossing or similar. Take fantastic photos from a safe distance.

- Action shots. Place your camera on the top of a skateboarding ramp or inside a goal and take the impossible photo. Use the burst feature to capture all the details.

- Concerts. One of your friends is at the front of the stage with his camera. You and others can take photos with his camera

- Group shot. Now you can finally take a picture of your entire family without having to hurry into the lineup before the camera timer runs out. Simply setup the camera, get everybody (yourself included) in the picture and check on your phone if everything is ok. Take a 5-second timer shot, pocket your phone and smile.

ShareLens offers 3 different shooting modes ( Full Quality, Fast Shot and 9-burst mode ) as well as full remote control of flash, focus and zoom.

The app doesn't run on non-samsung phones as it is built on samsung SDK. Developers should mention this fact in description. I will change my rating as soon as it is available for other phones also.

Possible improvement: (1) clearer instructions of connection type (2) setting up wifi-direct/Mobile AP for users within the app, instead of needing to set & connect manually. (3) power save option when sharing lens - cover the entire screen with a black colour while maintaining camera functionality

Compresses file size of photos to mere kilobytes. 12mp camera, photo, (which are usually saved as a 2mb or more file size) is compressed to 375kb? Why does this matter? It produces heavily artefact/pixilated shots. That's NOT high quality at all. Focusing is bad. Period. The good? It works as a remote shutter release. With great distance! Great shooting opportunity due to the many placements the phone can be put in. Other than that? Thinking this guy cares less about this product though. Would really like real HIGH QUALITY shots with less compression.

As a hobbyist I took this app for a ride! It was fun and interesting. But lacking horribly in some cases. Pros: 1) Depending on your coverage, you can take shots from a very, very comfortable distance. 2) A much better option to remote shutters. What I did. Taped my phone to the ceiling of a bus stop. Nice candids. Hooked it to a picnic table and threw bread to draw geese! Hooked my phone to the car window and took shots. I used the Samsung Galaxy Tab 12.2 to trigger. My phones? Samsung S4 and an HTC One. The cons: 1) Compression. In low light and editing photos with proper light I saw pixels as big as my thumbs! Not cool. I have a 4,8 and 12mb camera why are my photos compressed at 650kb? I need at least 2mb to post online! Higher resolution please. 2) Control of shots. I don't need filters and frames I need control of shots. ISO, WB and Exposure. Too many underexposed shots. 3) Focusing from the trigger is bad. You need to literally go to the other camera phone and fix it. Bad business. Scare away potential captures. This is an amazing app. Seems like a beta though. Hopefully you haven't abandoned this monster of an idea.

Unfortunately, Sharelens DOESN'T offer 3 quality modes, unless you spend more money (around $3,50) - fact they forgot to mention in the app description. Otherwise, bad picture quality.
