The "Gear Pro Activ" app is a remote controller of Gear Pro GDV288.
You can connect the GDV288 by iPhone or iPad with GearProActiv App, after established the connection, you can live view the camera video stream, trigger start movie record, take a picture, view the thumbnail, and download the video or picture.
Connection Step:
1. Open camera WiFi
2. Connect to the camera WiFi, the password is on the manual.
3. Open the GearProActiv App

I know other people have posted this as well but tog i would since originally I had the same issue due to failure to read the instructions. To connect to the camera with this app you need to first connect to the camera. It will show up as a wi-fi network in your wi-fi connection screen. Password can be found online in the manual. Once you're connected to the camera via wi-fi. THEN you can bring the app up and it will connect to the phone and work fine.

Move more then a few feet away and the connection drops. Bluetooth may be a better way to go forward with this app.

App installs but only opens to an error messages saying "connection to camera failed, please ensure WiFi connection is working."

Eh, no thing special. Be aware, don't stray more then 6 or 7 ft or its no good. TO CONNECT: Hit WiFi button on camera (orange light), locate your WiFi option on your phone, scan for WiFi signals, connect to "GearProActiv". IT WILL NOT connect to your camera using your default wifi connection.
