About SpectroPocket Basic
SpectroPocket Basic for Android is the world’s first solution for measuring color with smartphones and tablet computers. The all new solution measures single color patches on different substrates using commercially available spectrophotometer and displays the recorded color values on any mobile Android device.
Hardware and Software
SpectroPocket Box (HW) for Android is a compact, portable, box-shaped device with integrated software and rechargeable USB battery which connects directly to the spectral measuring device via USB. Communication between SpectroPocket Box and the mobile Android device is transferred via Bluetooth technology.
Available display modes are spectral remission values as figures and curves, LAB, density, XYZ and RGB. Color differences between measurements are shown as Delta E. Perfect color densities derived from spectral measurements are calculated by the BestMatch function.
For further use on the web or in the Cloud, the entire series of measurements can be easily exported or imported as standard CxF (Color Exchange Format) format files, or transmitted to another Android device. Currently, SpectroPocket for Android supports various commonly used spectrophotometers.

It doesn't give single density reading. If you need only black density, it shows all YMCK. Can't tell dot size. Trust it's easy to incorporate. Hardware is horrible. It has faulty battery which fails often. The charging point is so deep that most charger pins do not reach there. Have crossed checked densities with xrite and they fall in +/-0.02 difference. Which is fine.

Which is fine. Alright, now post use of Spectropocket for almost a year; I must confess that manufacturer responds to the issues. They improve. My 3 units were replaced promptly. All were because of battery failure. The hardware and software are robust. Only cloud save isnt yet working. Battery problem is addressed and they supplied me additional battery for each unit for free. Going to buy more Spectropockets in 2017. Digital Information AG takes care of the customer!
