METARs and TAFs with a twist:
Sure, you can get TAFs and METARs everywhere, but you'd be hard pressed to find a map based over overview that provides you instant insight in how the weather will develop over time, just by moving a slider. In addition to raw text, Sky MET provides you with:
- TAF and METAR decoding
- Crosswind component calculation
- Weather radar for each station
- Station NOTAMS
- And web cam images, allowing for a sneak peek at the station sky
Wind Aloft
Quickly see what the winds will be like for any altitude between ground and FL 440
SIGMETs, AIRMETs and outlooks
Unlike most other weather apps, Sky MET presents you with the full range of international Sigmets and airmets required when preparing for your next trip, and when moving the time slider Sky MET will also provide a sigmet outlook. Affected regions are drawn on the map along with the station summaries. You filter on any combination of:
- Sigmets
- Outlooks
- Tango Airmets
- Sierra Airmets
- ICE airmets
PIREPs
Use Sky MET to quickly see all PIREPs for the last hour. For your convenience the reports have been categorised in Turbulence, Icing and other PIREPs. Urgent pilot reports, for instance when reporting low level wind shear or heavy icing conditions, are clearly marked in red.
Clouds, ICE and tops
Sky MET calculates the areas with relatively high cloud density. These areas are displayed in on the map where blue and yellow coloration's indicate the likelihood of icing conditions. By sliding the altitude bar you can pick an altitude that is less affected by icing conditions.
A quick glance in the left hand top corner of the screen show you the forecasted ambient temperature, wind and relative humidity. The latter you determine weather or not clouds will be likely at that position and altitude.
Sat images and analysis.
Satellite images and significant weather charts are provided to complete the weather picture.

Great application. Could you make possible to highlight the NOTAMS like in aeroweather? Runway and crosswind information only available on the decoded weather. Could you make it available in raw weather?

Very well done and visual based. One look gives you the big picture, and then you can drill down for more specifics. I liked the ability to set the altitude in the slide bar and then only get the data I'm interested in.

Each update makes it better and better! I fly helicopter EMS and this has become a very useful tool to watch for weather trends in my service area. Being able to customize a few features would be helpful but it is excellent the way it is.

Uses a very old database, can't find my local airport because it have changed name over a year ago. Had the same issue with their Aeroweather app. Sent email no reply.

This is an excellent weather app for pilots. The free version is limited because it's a demo only. Pay no attention to frugal users rating the free version with low star ratings. You get what you pay for. Nice job.

Good idea, however, does not show all the airports even when you zoom it in. Visibility and ceiling does not show the actual weather or I could not understand at all. Today Geneve is VFR according to the metar (green coded when you check metar) but it shows a 25 in blue in the map...

Nice concept. Will have to mature a bit though. UI elements should be native and not too small. Winds aloft don't change as one adjusts the time axis.

It's a good concept with a lot of great information on it. It could be a little easier to use but for a first version, my first impressions are good!

The altitude slider doesn't work on my Xperia XZ Premium. I contacted the support but after 10 days no answer and no solution :-(
