So much wrong. Selecting family then search takes you to individuals. From individuals can't navigate tree. Most data fields labeled custom so viewing data is all mixed up and not chronological or grouped correctly. No easy way to display tree view.

Don't like it. Want to delete it but can't see how to do that. No more google play apps for me if there isn't a way to delete.

My requirement was for an App that read and displayed the contents of a GedCom genealogy file. This App readily meets that need and displays my 3Mbyte Gedcom file containing 3500 individuals easily on my Moto g phone. The file was created by Family Historian, which uses the Gedcom format as its native file format, as mentioned by an earlier reviewer. Gedcom files are structured plain text files and if this App will not display them, they are probably incorrectly formatted.

It worked perfectly on my Xoom. Looks great, functions well. Not fancy but then its free! I'd be happy to pay for a better interface but I'm not it's worthwhile. Great job. If you add functionality, I'd pay.

Easy layout, just enough info. Perfect for a free app, but would love a better Tree view.

This is the first gedcom viewer for Android that I've seen that's free, outside of uploading my gedcom to a web site and using their program to view it. It looks like it read my data just fine. I have a pretty simple gedcom, so not a lot to confuse it with. The individual listings didn't link to the families, though the family listings linked to the individuals. The report(s) only gives the option for a 5 generation descendant tree, but that didn't work for me at all -- only showed the first person. I can't report on the sources section because I haven't added them to my gedcom yet. (I am a programmer also and I wrote my own genealogy program, hence, not a "complete" gedcom export.) However, this was just recently released, it reads the gedcom, and it doesn't crash. Great start! I can't wait to see where this one goes as the developers keep working on it.

Except for that, Mrs. Lincoln, the play was great. Seriously, why isn't there a free Android GEDCOM viewer with at least some attempt at complete functionality?

I downloaded this simple "Read-Only" app into my 3y-old Samsung phone & my new Nook HD. Very handy to take the "book-size" Nook on trip & show family/relatives our family trees. ;-)

Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition. Easily imported 2000 entry gedcom 5 file. Gives me all the info I need whilst out and about. Would like a pedigree report to complement the decendency report. Otherwise excellent for a free app.

I have used family tree software for many years and this is a wonderful aid. It is fast loading and needs no WiFi connections to operate just copy ged files to memory card. Thank you

As is acknowledged on the site, this program is liable to crash and fail to load with files of any size. I got 2/3 the way through loading my 14Mb file (3,000 people) when it disappeared. Loading a smaller file, shows the program to be basic in what it shows. So far as I could see, events and attributes ignore addresses and notes. Since I make extensive use of both, this means it's useless. Person-level notes appear up to a limit, after which they are truncated. Full marks for actually showing a custom event - none for not showing what sort of event it is. If you use GEDCOM to any degree of sophistication, this program will be useless to you.

I use Family Historian tree program which uses .ged as it's file format (therefore no exporting needed). It's works brilliantly in the app and is great if u need a quick ref on the move. I tried using the Ancestry app but it's too processor heavy and was eating my battery power even when not using it.

As a serious family historian, I find this app very useful for quick reference and sharing my Ancestry GEDCOM file with family members - Galaxy Nexus phone & 10.1 tablet.

D70%

It successfully imports my gedcom file but program force closes when I click on individuals. None of my 200 entries have last names because of the nature of the south Asian naming scheme. Could this be the problem?

C70%
by C####:

I suspect it only works with smallish databases.. anything serious (5000+) fails to load. Also a graphical pedigree display, even if only 3 gens, would be nice.
