เสียงนกเปล้าหางพลั่ว

นกเปล้าส่วนใหญ่มีสถานภาพตามฤดูกาลเป็นนกประจำถิ่น พบได้ตลอดทั้งปี แต่ในช่วงนอกฤดูผสมพันธุ์ก็อาจมีอาณาเขตหากินที่กว้างขึ้น บางชนิดกระจายลงมาอยู่ระดับความสูงที่ต่ำกว่าเดิม ตัวอย่างที่ชัดเจนของนกที่มีพฤติกรรมอพยพตามระดับความสูง (altitudinal migrant) คือ นกเปล้าหางพลั่ว (Wedge-tailed Green Pigeon) ซึ่งแม้ปกติจะอาศัยอยู่ตามป่าดิบเขา แต่ช่วงนี้ของปีสามารถพบตามป่าต่ำได้ด้วย

นกเปล้าหางพลั่วเป็นนกเปล้าที่มีขนาดใหญ่ หางยาว จะงอยปากสีฟ้า เพศผู้มีสีส้มเรื่อๆ ที่อก ด้านหน้าของปีกมีสีน้ำตาลแดง และมีสีเทาที่บริเวณท้ายทอย แต่ชนิดย่อย robinsoni ที่พบทางภาคใต้มีลำตัวสีเขียวเข้มกว่า และขนาดตัวเล็กกว่า เพศผู้มีสีน้ำตาลแดงเฉพาะบริเวณหัวไหล่และไม่มีสีส้มที่อก Croton birds, mostly seasonal status of birds endemic.
