หนูพุก หรือ หนูแผง (อังกฤษ: Bandicoot rats) เป็นสกุลของสัตว์ฟันแทะในวงศ์ Murinae ในวงศ์ใหญ่ Muridae ใช้ชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์ว่า Bandicota (มาจากภาษาเตลูกู คำว่า pandikokku หมายถึง "หนูหมู")

หนูพุก มีรูปร่างลักษณะทั่วไปคล้ายกับหนูทั่วไปในวงศ์ Murinae แต่ทว่ามีรูปร่างที่ใหญ่กว่าหนูในสกุล Rattus มาก และมีจุดเด่นที่มีขนสีน้ำตาลแดงหรือน้ำตาลดำที่รุงรังไม่เป็นระเบียบ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งขนบริเวณหลังที่เป็นแผงแข็ง หลังตีนเป็นสีดำ หางยาวมีเกล็ดสีเดียว เป็นหนูที่มีอุปนิสัยดุร้าย เมื่อถูกคุกคามจะขู่และพร้อมที่จะกัด

หนุพุก แบ่งออกได้เป็น 3 ชนิด พบได้ในประเทศไทย 2 ชนิด

หนุพุกอินเดีย (B. bengalensis)
หนูพุกใหญ่ (B. indica)
หนูพุกเล็ก (B. savilei)
ถือเป็นหนูที่มีขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดในประเทศไทย โดยอาจจะมีความยาวจากปลายจมูกจรดปลายหางได้ถึง 23-28 เซนติเมตร น้ำหนัก 400-700 กรัม ตัวเมียสามารถผสมพันธุ์ได้ตั้งแต่ 4 เดือนขึ้นไป ในขณะที่ตัวผู้อายุ 6 เดือนขึ้นไป แต่เป็นหนูที่จะพบได้เฉพาะในพื้นที่เกษตรกรรม เช่น นาข้าว เท่านั้น กระจายพันธุ์ตั้งแต่อนุทวีปอินเดียจนถึงเอเชียอาคเนย์ อาศัยอยู่ในรูตามคันนาที่ขุดไว้ โดยมีขุยหรือก้อนดินที่ขุดขึ้นมากระจายเป็นเม็ดอยู่รอบ ๆ จัดเป็นศัตรูพืชที่สำคัญที่กินข้าว โดยเฉพาะข้าวที่ออกรวงเป็นอาหาร และยังกินสัตว์อย่างอื่นในนา เช่น ปูนา หรือหอยเชอรี่ เป็นอาหารอีกด้วย แต่เกษตรกรเมื่อจับได้จะนิยมนำมาบริโภค เนื้อมีรสชาติอร่อย มีการล่าและขายกันในหลายพื้นที่ Mice or voles Panel (English: Bandicoot rats) is a genus of rodents in Wong Wong in Murinae Muridae using scientific name Bandicota (from Telugu word pandikokku means "pig rat").
