Sound On Sound UK for Android
I don't think this app is working in 4.4.2. It crashes every single time I try to open it on my Nexus 7. Very frustrating because I've just bought a tablet + web subscription. Please, fix this.
I don't understand the comments in other reviews about support. I messaged them, and they could not have been more helpful. I find that the app works perfectly for sittin readin the mag. For historical equipment info, I search my SOS web subscription. The one time I needed support was when my tablet updated to a new version of Android. I got advice from Paul G at SOS support, and it was fixed in seconds . . . . John McK
Unfortunately despite the magazine itself bring excellent, the new app is pretty abysmal; it can't zoom articles any more (which also makes most adverts useless), it cannot handle network errors and a host of other issues their previous app had working. It has been in this state for so long my subscription will alas go elsewhere.
Still can not sign in to my account
Terrible
Had several years of subscription magazines in my collection which have all gone. Now I can't log in at all, tried on several devices including my main Samsung Tab Pro. Have repeatedly requested tech support who keep telling me the issue is with my IPad, but I don't own or use an IPad. Now they claim I can't keep more than one year of magazines stored. With the previous app I had three years. Sorry, I'm giving up. Not worth the hassle.
Has issues and cannot get to run successfully on Android 4.1.1 Nextbook, was running fine till the update now all downloaded issues are gone and cannot login at all.Quite flawed release, shame as its my favourite audio magazine as has been for 20 years, never had these issues with the old analogue magazine, wow the pages just opened and turned !!
The text content is an embedded scanned image therefore it does not work with TalkBack accessibility there for the blind are unable to use this app what a shame!
Very big file sizes, so using the Ext SD seems a necessity.
My last review of this app noted that it'd stopped working under KitKat. After a long absence I've reinstalled and all is working brilliantly again now. In my opinion, this is how all tablet magazine content should work. A great way to access the Sound On Sound magazine, which has always worked well!!
I have paid for annual digital subscription and, when I replaced my tablet, the application would no longer allow me to log in and download the issues. The problem was resolved some days later, after contacting the SOS Support team. Very badly designed content protection mechanism... Besides this, the magazine looks awesome in the SOS app.
Hard reset my phone, now can't log in despite having right user name and password. Raised with Dev.
Uninstalled the App and downloaded content to free up some space. Have reinstalled, successfully logged in but it doesn't recognise that I'm subscribed and all content is displaying as in App purchases, even content I previously had access to
Latest application update doesn't allow me to log in - despite being a subscriber. Great magazine. Poorly tested app.
Would be great for the mix rescue features and sampler content
Here we go my long friends.
Excellent method of four-way navigation, its use of PDF rendering way better than Google's scanned news stand magazines plus the ability to save onto SD card make it one of the best readers out there alongside an already excellent magazine.
Make older version free
Crashes Nexus 7 on 4.4 and won't even install onto my S4 despite it having a higher resolution display. Sent me an email offering free magazines which I can't download in the given time because the app is made of suck & fail. Find whoever is responsible and shoot them in the face.
Crashes on N7
After an appalling start it is better. No landscape mode (that's bad!) and still takes ages to download the mags.
Considerably improved- background downloads etc
...but updated to latest version and now I have to re-download all my copies. Cmon.
Nexus 7 with Android 4.4.4. Impossible to sign in (after paying for subscription) as I always get an authentication timed out message. Tried this months ago and they still haven't fixed it. Recommend potential customers create a SOS account first and then try to sign in before parting with any money. When 50% of the reviewers are giving your app only 1 star you have a serious problem.
Now downgrading this to one star. A big disadvantage is that each issue you get is very large (approx. 200MB each) and can only be downloaded to internal memory - no provision it seems to D/L or move them to external micro-SD card. This is a a MAJOR problem if you only have a low-spec tablet with limited internal storage. SOS Support say there are no plans ti implement such a function. [EDIT/UPDATE: Upgraded to Odys Fusion JB4.1.1 and it also works on that. But still no word from the developers about being able to keep the bulk of the data on the ext SD card....]
On a Nook HD running CM11 (Kitkat). This app is losing you customers, please fix it.
Why the app does not download any of the issue I bought????
The issue with Android 4.4 is finally fixed, hooray! Now it just needs zooming and Adobe need to drag their specs up to every competing magazine platform. Still, better than it was...
Fixed, it works and is the best mag I have used on a 7inch tab
Uaing SwiftKey to type in the username is an exercise in frustration. Very buggy input field, I had to resort to typing it in another app, copying and pasting. The issue download fails sometimes for no reason. If you actually manage to download an issue however, it reads great.
Great mag such a pity about the app. Firstly phones with smaller screens aren't supported because this app does not do pinch and zoom! Secondly portrait mode is only supported, not landscape. Thirdly it takes ages to download a magazine. Finally there's a few silly design flaws which could easily be fixed. It's a total mystery to me why SOS developed their own app when they could have used Google Play Magazines. I wonder how much revenue SOS is missing out by not adopting Google mags.

Great content as expected from SoS, and the reader is well thought out, but the process of getting the latest issue on to your device will leave you tearing your hair out. I really do hope those issues can be resolved soon.
Splash'n'crash on 2012 Nexus 7 with KitKat, as reported by everyone else. Please send me a paper copy of my free issue instead, thankyou :)
Last update to the Nexus 7 (4.3 I think) has rendered the SoS app completely unusable. Immediately crashes on opening. its been like this for months.
... but doesn't work on KitKat yet! Please fix!
The rest of the reviews aren't wrong; app is unusable on Nexus 7 after OS update. Definitely would not recommend.

Doesn't seem to work at all with Android 4.4 so can longer read copies I've bought!
