---------------------------------

motiongraph is a smartphone application that creates unusual images in which part of the image moves like a video. Amaze your friends with these unique images that are limited only by your imagination.

Note: Our test has shown that the app does not work correctly with Xperia Go. We are currently studying our workaround to the problem.

This app is developed by Sony Digital Network Applications, Inc. (SDNA)

Overview:

•Easy three steps
motiongraph allows you to create your image in three simple and intuitive operations.
1. Shoot: Tap a button to record a very short video about 2 seconds in length.
2. Edit: Swipe across the screen to define the areas that you want to move or not to move.
3. Save: Tap a button again to save your work, and you’re done!

•Editing features to fine-tune your image
motiongraph has a range of features to enhance your control of your image and to improve your picture quality.
-Adjust camera settings such as focus, white balance, and exposure.
-Reduce jitter taken from moving camera by Sony’s Image Stabilization Technology
-Specify the start point (In point) and end point (Out point) for the moving part of the image.
-Adjust playback speed and control the smoothness of the playback

What are users saying about motiongraph

Although this app could use some work, its core ability - to make cinegraphs - is the best I've seen. It's also impressive to see how fast the app runs on my old Droid Incredible (with a beta 4.2 ROM no less!). UPDATE: Works the same on my Note II. Its stylus is helpful when editing the motion areas. I wish I had the option change the brush size as well as an option to fade from the end to the start of the GIF when it loops instead of just cutting back to the beginning.

I can't just make an image on my phone without uploading to social media on an app I paid for? Lame.

Amazing app. something i've been wanting for a long time. but i want to make one of my face to use for my message boards... and i can't save these as a gif file. i EXPECTED output to gif based on the video i saw, i mean what is the point of this if i can't save as gif? EDIT: i have found i can save as from the website, change filetype to gif, then upload to imgur. let's see a native gif link or export to imgur

Legacy menu button is present, should use an ActionBar instead. Sharing is rediculous. Should use a generic share button rather than specific hooks to Facebook and Twitter. The button bars don't fit with Android's general look and feel. List scrolling just feels horribly wrong. Really needs a UI overhaul using the Android design guidelines.

by S####:

With certain tones it's quite easy to see the border between animation and still. Also, the abilities to zoom and change "brush" size would be nice additions. Aside from those minor things, this is a fun app that helps bring a new dimension to simple pics.

When it works, it works very well. As outlined in other reviews that is the problem. Authentication problems, crashing problems. Less than ideal sharing options. If this is a first pass, then it is a great start. If not, then I would recommend saving your money.

The core function, pics in motion, is currently the best way to do on mobile quick and easy. EDIT: they added sdcard support to save photos. Rating adjusted. 5stars if you fix the constant authenticating bug every time I try to see my photos, and if you change the yellow color.

Slow, read the terms.

C70%

The user interface feels horribly slow. It doesn't take advantage of the Android platform like sharing. And even if you put up with the anoying interface, it doesn't really do a good job.

P70%
by P####:

I love the concept and I'm keeping it only because of that. Why do I have to upload anything? Why so many click-through licenses? Why not use built-in Google auth? Use the Action Bar instead of the old settings menu. Let me long press an image to delete it. Let me use the system share menu and not pigeonhole me to Facebook, Twitter, or Email. Don't automatically download things from the server - these gifs are huge! It'd be nice to take longer videos. Basically, take pictures and let me manage the results

C70%
by C####:

I gave it 4 stars because I feel that the ap works and is a lot of fun to mess around with! It is not a fully polished ap but it works and I enjoy it!

X70%
by X####:

Great concept but needs massive changes or improvements. Scrolling through list is slow because it loads every video. Solution: tap to play. Sharing is clunky and fails. Solution: use androids sharing hooks. Hard edges on video. Solution: allow pinch zooming for precision drawing and maybe a soft edge brush. Many more ideas... but it is a fun app.

P70%
by P####:

I can't believe sony has stooped to this level to make money. Good concept that is destroyed by having all files run through servers. Should be able to take pictures and manage results and then share if needed. What do you have to do to get a refund? Probably the last app I will pay for from Google Play.

X70%
by X####:

Silly how it is region locked on Playstore. I had to use my international phone to download and buy this and then backup .apk to install on my other device. App is fun and works as described. Just wished that it didn't have to load the shared images upon loading everytime. i also do not like how the file can't be saved as gif and viewed independently.

X70%
by X####:

Do not believe all of the bad reviews! This app is WAY too much fun - you just have to know how to use it. Yes, it can use some (ALOT) polishing, but complaining that you can't share on Google+ is not correct. First off, Google+ just added GIF support today, so all of those complaints were moot - second, you can share via G+ from your phone. I just loaded one up and looks great! I feel this app, due to the immediate room for improvement is a 3, but the fun and shear power of this tool deserves a 4.

F70%
by F####:

This app does not have polish... certainly does not feel like a non-free app. But the bummer is that any motiongraphs you create are automatic uploaded to their servers... and the only way to share them is to share a link to your motiongraphs. There is no privacy setting available thereby making all your motiongraphs visible to everyone using this app. Also, there is no way of deleting your motiongraphs once they get uploaded... and forget about saving them locally on your memory card... that is not possibl

Cool concept but the UI is horrible and barely usable. After some updates it might be a good app.

X70%
by X####:

Let's just say that I seriosly hope Sony plans to further develop this app. By the way, use a file browser to look where this app saves the gifs to your storage. It DOES save locally, but they are hidden from the gallery.

V70%
by V####:

The idea is good but its not really pulled off very well. I think the image stabilizer is the main problem as the animated part of the image moves around. I think the main thing is the video makes it look like it can do some cool stuff but in reality the camera used to make those images must have been on some sort of tripod. Overall, good concept just not quite there yet.

J70%
by J####:

Really cool that Sony made this, but I can't even seem to get it to share to Google+

X70%
by X####:

Not possible to use since it is not possible to log in with two step verification. It is also impossible to get get my money back since it takes more than 15 minutes to read all the licence texts.

X70%
by X####:

The central idea of this app is really fun. In 2 or 3 versions, this will be a great app. Right now it is slow and buggy. It is insulting to charge $$ for this version.

The image processing is slick, but the interface is horrible.

M70%

The video is a little misleading. It makes it seem like it runs smoothly, but it doesn't. It is very laggy, and takes a while to scroll through other's gifs. Please fix this app, make it run as smooth as you advertise it! Make it worth paying for!

M70%
by M####:

For a paid app its not worth 99¢. Appears the development is around a brick wall. The main menu dialogue needs a fix and the over app lacks optimization. Lacks creative features and basic function is dysfunctional.
