Sonps please take these user reviews seriously! Update is apalling. User interface is so un-intuitive. Everything takes more clicks to get there or to find what you need and who thought of putting the icons at the bottom of the screen so they get accidentally pressed everytime you pick up your phone?! (This lasted all of a week on Facebook when they rapidly changed it back. Sonos take note!)

Sonos is the pioneer of wireless, high quality home audio systems. A little pricey, it is worth it for the modern audiophile. Setup is simple, and expansion to rooms, is merely plugging speaker/s into AC outlet. I can access subscribed music accounts, Sirius, Spotify, Pandora etc. With simple to use app. The benefits are too numnerous to list here, but you can start with one speaker and build from there. I love my Sonos system and recommend to anyone without reservation.

D70%
by D####:

Seriously bad updates rendering my numerous Sonos speakers and hardware inoperable. The search functionality is now super slow and my rooms drop out ALL the time. Don't think I'll be buying anymore of your products until these software issues are solved which based on the previous 4 or 5 iterations will be quite some time!

S70%
by S####:

Incomprehensible garbage. The new UI is confusing, unintuitive, and takes too many menus and taps to do simple things like: mute the volume in one room, group rooms, change rooms, select music for rooms, set a sleep timer, find a playlist... So just those flaws. This used to be a great app that was easy to use. Now it gives garbage fires a bad name.

D70%
by D####:

Ever since the redesign of the app I feel like they have taken several steps backwards in usability. The interface is not so natural to use and it takes mora actions to do certain things compared to before. Also the interface changed to white/bright without possibility to change back.

D70%
by D####:

Why on Earth do you need to have a Sonos account, just to search for speakers, or configure them? It's like buying a TV, and before you can use it, you have to register for an account with the manufacturer. Ummm... I just want it to work out of the box, no configuration needed, no account registration... I cannot recommended Sonos products.

D70%
by D####:

Just ordered a play:5 online. Looking at recent reviews for the app makes me not want this. Even tho I haven't used it yet, rating 1 star since I believe latest reviews, hoping this will make developers fix the issues. Changing to 5 star if old working app is brought back.

Y70%
by Y####:

Horrible new, unusable design. It makes me regret my decision to go with Sonos. You cannot be your own deejay anymore. You cannot add/edit your queue on the fly. You have to add 20 to 40 clicks to your experience to add your song to the "queue". Plus, you have to stop your music and configure a new queue or playlist, which erases your existing queue, unless you remembered to save it as a playlist first (in which case you should have just edited a playlist first). Have I confused you? My point exactly.

J70%
by J####:

Very disappointing since I spent so much money on the speakers. I expect speakers to be at least able to play sound whenever I want. It always seems to be a 50/50 that the system will recognize my playlist or not. Not at all dependable for when I have friends over and I want music in the background and don't have time to reset the system. Garbage.

T70%
by T####:

Oh dear! The complaints here are too much. This is a great app. Truth is, I was a little confused when Sonos changed the design but I got used to it in a very short time and you know what? I've come to love it better than the previous design. Having said that, I'd prefer a dark theme. Anyway, this is a great app guys!

Q70%
by Q####:

Updated to add: when I try to get to my favorites, the app keeps me in a loop of acreens that show me the new features. I have to restart the app to make it work. Epic fail,Sonos.... This latest update changed the entire interface and makes it more difficult to use the app. Simply selecting in which room you want to play music has become overly complex. Sonos, what were you thinking?

D70%
by D####:

Any infinitesimal drop in wifi connection, which you wouldn't normally even notice, causes the app to skip to the next track. This has been a known problem for ages and Sonos haven't fixed in with the 12.2017 update. Have they never heard of buffering? I would advise not to invest in the very expensive Sonos hardware until this is fixed.

D70%
by D####:

I've been a sonos user since the start and this app is the worst it's ever been. I'm glad I still have the original cr100 controllers to use as they are much easier than this piece of trash programming which can't have been tested. Sonos is a quality product which deserves a better GUI, or at least one that works and is intuitive, with less clicks and less clumsy.

D70%
by D####:

App use to work great didn't have any issues, and I have it for both android and ios. Its now total garbage. About mid summer there was an update, every since music constantly stops playing after a song or 2 on both platforms. There have been several updates since and it continues to get worse. I have zero connectivity issues with my internet or wifi so thats not an issue.

Y70%
by Y####:

I am finding it much harder to use in version 8. there is latency on rooms being grouped to then control volume so being defeaned a lot. I am lost in the app repeatedly and unable to my desired outcome (for example volume is not present on screen after grouping). I would like the old app back.

F70%
by F####:

Just installed couple weeks ago, worked great, everything running smoothly till that darn latest update that everyone is talking about. At first I thought it was my WiFi, but everything else including tv in house were streaming good. I still have till 1/14/18 to return device and go back to the ECHO. I got the Sonos because the ECHO 1st. generation failed and people I work with all praised SONOS especially sound quality. I have had to unplug and reboot this device almost everyday. Using Alexa and controls on device works just fine, trying to use app just simply impossible. Followed SONOS trouble shooting suggestions without results. Hopefully they have a fix in the next two week or I will be returning device and go back to the ECHO.

D70%
by D####:

The new UI is terrible and very unstable. Not intuitive to use at all and very long winded to get to where you need to go. Quite often you select a different room from the one already selected and it doesn't bring it up, it can take quite a few attempts to get the different room selected. Now my kitchen speaker is frequently being dropped from the app so it's creating instability in the system. Please either revert to the old intuitive UI or revamp to a better UI that has been beta tested properly.

G70%
by G####:

The app used to be great and is now really poor. As well as being far harder to use and less intuitive, I have noticed a real drop in stability recently - the app frequently hangs, rooms drop out etc. I have had to restart both software and hardware in the last couple of days, where in previous years that would have been a rare occurrence. Sonos, please take this seriously and fix.

D70%
by D####:

What on earth have you done Sonos! This update is absolutely dreadful. Utterly confusing to use... I spent 5 mins the other day trying to figure out how to play something in one room and gave up. I suggest you hire a new UX design manager immediately.

U70%
by U####:

Still trash experience on the app. The last few updates of made my system more and more unstable it was Rock Solid before. I feel like someone else is getting sloppy. I don't like to pay a premium price for sloppy. This app is hot garbage! It's so bad i wont recommend anyone buy a sonos system, and i may detach mine and go another route if it isnt rolled back or drastically improved soon.

P70%
by P####:

It sucks! Sonos do not take notice of these reviews in any case. Unreliable. Constantly sneaking in new permissions without giving me the option to out out of any new update which then renders my entire system useless.

D70%
by D####:

As a recent buyer of Sonos speakers, I'm really impressed with the sound quality but this app is ridiculous. It's unnecessarily difficult to use - too many layers and submenus to do something simple like change the EQ settings for a room, or even to change which speakers the system is playing through, which should surely be the most straight-forward thing. This horrible app does unfortunately take away from the quality of the speakers.

K70%
by K####:

2 years on and issues below still not resolved Too many bugs, sound equalizer hidden away, i have to update too often. System is loosing reliability. Was good. Now is barelly acceptable. Will not expand my sonos systems anymorw

D70%
by D####:

As others have said the new UI is rubbish. Why have they removed the dark theme? Does Sonos have quality control for their app testing? Would like to revert back. It has now reverted to cutting songs short again. Do they actually have someone reading these reviews, because they do not respond.

G70%
by G####:

Wow what an awful system, we have had 7 Sonos 1's around the house now for a year, it never shows all the rooms, there's also one or two missing at least! Super laggy it takes 5-30 seconds to update any changes to volume or songs... And this is if it works at all! A lot of the time it connects but says there's no rooms, we normally have an internet speed of around 15mbps so that's not the problem!

D70%
by D####:

The interface is and extraordinary bad design, there is no way to select a speaker easily. It also hangs changing speakers or just performing instructions . To the point music has started playing and we could not stop it via the app or via the buttons on top . Compared to the previous version this is frankly terrible. Please refresh release the old version that is far far easier and smoother to use

D70%
by D####:

Confusing UI. The app is much less stable since the Alexa functionality has been added. It's frustrating to see speakers repeatedly disappear from the app and require a hard reboot to find the them again. Each new release seems to break something. App was good to use after Spotify integration was sorted, but is version poor now.

D70%
by D####:

Sonos achieved its reputation on sound quality....they have not improved their system reputation from this latest update! The software engineers for the lastest incarnation need to go back to basics and learn about ergonomics! It is truly awful to navigate and unintuitive. Sure, you can learn, but it really should be simpler. And as for the white theme, definitely not my cup of tea. Concentrate on the basics before adding yet more bells and whistles please. I wonder what the Sonos's development and consultation process is before releasing changes?! The best, classiest things are often simple and elegant. This app is not.

D70%
by D####:

- New UI is a nightmare to navigate. - App is very laggy since latest update. - A speaker dropped network connection, and app wouldn't allow me to access Settings to correct this, because it didn't identify a connected speaker! Had to use the Windows app to correct. - Widget has ceased to work since update, on all my Android devices.

D70%
by D####:

Sonos requires this app for wireless use of their speakers. But only allows a limited number of second party apps (which must be accessed through the Sonos app). I paid far too much for these speakers for this BS.

D70%
by D####:

I used to love using my Sonos system but the redesigned app is truly awful. It frustrates everyone I know with a Sonos system - what was actually wrong with the previous versions to warrant this redesign? Please Sonos, just give us the previous version back!

P70%
by P####:

Echoing the massive negative feedback on the new UI. Cumbersome oversized icons, buried functionality, zero new value added. Previous version embodied the SONOS brilliance for both form and intuitive usability. This new version needs to be quietly filed into the bin of failed product launches. Return to your former brilliance SONOS!

D70%
by D####:

ZERO stars from a previously very enthusiastic user. New UI is an absolute mess, too much context switching for simple tasks, and the Sonos net is now unreliable, too. ### These disappointing and forced updates BEST SERVE AS A REMINDER that tight hardware-software integration can backfire when the vendor mutates the UI and your hardware is irreparably altered. ###

P70%
by P####:

What was once an app that was so easy to use, is now so cumbersome, full of flaws, and such a frustrating experience. The redesign doesn't make things any easier. My speakers and rooms constantly disappear. The widget requires a regular reset. The list of negatives goes on. Roll back the old design and version that worked!

I70%
by I####:

This app was fine until the December update. I had to update because I got another speaker. Now only 2 of my music apps show. If I try to reinstall them it says they are installed. And I can't uninstall the ones I have. My speakers which I have spent $$$$ on are rendered useless. This free app has cost me $$$$$%$". So mad. Subsequent fixes have done nothing.

I70%
by I####:

Hate the new look. Why is there not a skins or theme option. Alarms now stopped working and when you try to use it first thing in the morning the white background burns your retinas. Bought a cheap netbook so I now have the windows app running so at least people can use it as this is still the best version. Sonos don't seem to care about all the negative feedback, maybe the time has come to dump it all on eBay. Now noticed over Christmas the speakers just keep stopping for no reason.

D70%
by D####:

Currently version of the app (8.2) is horrible. Users have been complaining on the Sonos support forum for weeks, but Sonos shows no interest in actually listening and making the app usable. Suggest you buy from a different company.

L70%
by L####:

Sonos used to be my favorite app and gear. Now I dread it thanks to an app upgrade that is either buggy or completely disfunctional depending on the day. I'm am so many thousands of dollars in it's a real disappointment.

N70%
by N####:

The new interface is close to unusable... It was great. Many issues, change speakers doesn't, you know, changes the speaker some times. Always changing sources by accident. If I could go back to the old app I would.

W70%
by W####:

No rhyme or reason to the menu system. The app uses 2% of the phone's battery even if it was never launched, why? Stop it running at start up. On a power outage, your have to regroup the speakers, every, single, time. Why? Good job you put the word 'Android' on the app name...
