About Network Scheduler

How long does your battery last? A day? Lesser?

Turning off your WiFi or your mobile data, when not in use, saves a significant amount of battery life. It may even save you some money. Depending on where we are, we may want to turn off the WiFi and enable mobile data, or have it the other way around.

But we often forget to switch between wireless and mobile data. Truth be told, we probably avoid the entire management issue by just leaving both of them on, all the time. That isn't good for your battery (or your wallet).

Say we have an hour of commute in the mornings, between 8 am and 9 am, and then work between 9 am and 6 pm, and then the commute back home, between 6 pm to 7 pm. During commute, we'd want the WiFi off, and mobile data on, and at work, we'd probably want the WiFi on, and mobile data off, same as when we're at home.

That's what this app is for. It helps you set a time table throughout your day, when it automatically controls your WiFi and mobile data for you. It will follow the schedule you have set for it, and tell your device to watch the Data/WiFi, just the way you want it.

Just add a schedule for each portions of your day when you want the application to actively control the WiFi/Data. The screen shots included in the application page here can help you out.

For example:
1. Click on "Add" on the upper right corner of the first screen that you see, when you start the app from your tray.

2. It will take you to a screen when you can choose a time to start and end the schedule, say, start at 9:00 am, and end at 6:00 pm.

3. Then, you should see a couple of switches below that, (labeled "WiFi" and "Data") that you can slide right to mean "On" and slide left to mean "Off". Choose one state (On/Off) for each, that indicates what you want to do with the WiFi and Data, during the time you selected in the previous step.
(if your phone has an L update, the app won't be able to manage your data for you, sorry about that.)

4. If you think you made a mistake and want to undo your changes so far on this screen, hit "Reset" and everything goes back to before you started.

5. If you decide you don't want to add a schedule right now, just hit the back key, or the "Cancel" button the screen, and it should go away.

6. If you are happy with your changes, and want to save it, hit the "Enable" button on the screen, and you should see it turn up on your screen as a new item on your list. You can tap on the items to see options to remove or edit this any time.

7. You'll also see an option to "Snooze" a schedule, the app will temporarily stop managing states during the time specified in that schedule. To stop snoozing, tap the item again and choose "Enable this schedule".

8. When the app starts managing your WiFi and/or Data, you'll see the app icon in the status bar of your phone, telling you till what time the schedule is active.

That's it! If you need any help with the app, my email is out here somewhere on this page. You can write to me and I'll get back when I can.

Thank you for trying my app!
