SMS & Call Log Backup

Does exactly as advertised. :0) It would be nice if there was no limit to the number of entries, esp when first using the app. Way around the limit is to regularly maintain a backup archive. I know we can't look forward to automated backups. The dev hasn’t enhanced the app in 18 months, but it would be an amazing enhancement. I would gladly fork over a few bucks to the developer to continue engineering enhancements & maybe offer a Pro ver that manages contacts cross platform (Win, iOS & XML). But the app is truly free.

Unable to restore. Restore feature can't find the backup files in Google Drive (/BackupSMSCallLog/). It keep saying no files when the files are there. [Update 8/28/2016] I was able to restore. Turns out, the backup file needs to be in the zip format. But, group sms messages were not restored. So, I'm going to bump my rating from 2 to 4 stars.

I needed to save my messages with my ex-wife for court reasons. Everything went fine the first time I used it and I thought this is great. Then my phone was set to delete old messages and so when this app backed up my information again it overwrote the information that was already there and so now those messages are gone

In less than 5 minutes backed up my call log and SMS history to Google drive, then transferred it to my new phone. The process could not have been any easier.

Not able to restore sms from the backup files( not able to read sms end log from files)! n m lost my important sms due to this app. Please do something

Tried to use app to delete old sms. Looked like it was going to work but failed. Tried to contact support but never got a response. Too bad. An A for effort.

I think it will be better if you provide an automatic backup option for each incoming sms or call by replacing the previous log. Especially in the case of external storage. It seems difficult to backup manually all the time.

Because you can't backup individual sms threads (like several other comparable services allow you to). Otherwise, may be good, but I'm not even trying it because it doesn't suit my specific needs.

Such a simple, quick app. Really happy for how well this app works. Might not be the prettiest interface but definitely the best SMS backup app I've tried (beating the top 3 on the current rankings)

The text messages get restored but not in order or your text. They group all theirs then group all yours. Hard to read back or viewing what was said. Grrrr

Works as advertised! The missing link to all backups. And will do it on automatic too. Lots of options. Free up storage on phone,move to cloud. Perfect when switching phones. Edit: Glad to see so many positive reviews after all this time (almost 2yrs) because it deserves the praise. Very thankful for this great app.

Typo in software directions doesn't return information back to the software you're using for your messages and callout. Reviews and restores only to its own software.

I needed to move about 4000 SMS msgs from old to new business phone. I tried the other two popular sms backup and restore apps but with limited success, this app worked like a charm ;-) I made a backup to google drive on the old phone and restored backup from google drive on the new phone. VERY happy. Moved sms msgs from old Samsung Avant to Samsung J7.

Hi, used this years ago and just recently this was a life saver when moving to a new phone...this is nice and simple for 1 off bkp and restores. The backup merge is a nice feature. It looks like it still needs the ability to set a nightly backup... keep up the good work... tks

Integrates nicely with Google Drive and Dropbox. I used it to move my text messages and call logs from a now retired phone to my brand new one. Absolutely no complaints.

Unsuccessfully tried three other apps to transfer my SMS texts prior to this one. This app worked and the process was easy. Highly recommended.

Although the app description and accompanying screen shots say that backups can be saved on "external phone storage" (i.e., SD Card), I don't seem to have that option on my Galaxy S7 - Android 6.0.1. Would love to know why.

i backed up my sms and call logs to internal storage then copy it to my laptop then reset my phone to factory settings , then i copy it back the .xml files to my phone's internal storage then when i try to restore it it cannot find it on my internal storage then copy the same .xml files to my google drive and try to restore from google drive and still the same cannot restore my sms and call logs , kindly help with the mentioned matter your fast response will be highly appreciated.

I downloaded 3 different backup apps to transfer my Text & Call Log from Samsung S4 to Nexus 6. The other 2 are SMS Backup & Restore and Super Backup. I created backup files for all 3 and saved them in S4 ext SD card & Dropbox & Google Drive. When I tried to restore my backups on Nexus 6, only this app that was able to retrieve my backups DIRECTLY from Dropbox. The other 2 needs me to copy the backups from external SD card and transfer it to Nexus 6. It restored everything perfectly too. Very satisfied.

I've been going back and forth between two Moto X phones (both of which include Motorola's Migrate app), but that doesn't work when transferring TO a device with a custom ROM installed. This filled the gap perfectly! I haven't tried to cummulative backup feature, and don't intend to, so I can't say how well that works, but single backup/restore worked great.

Best I've ever used, just works without bombing you with rubbish. A schedule option for the archive backup would really make this tops, but even though there are other apps that can do this, they still have detracting factors. I'd happily pay for a pro version to do this.

Taking a backup was very easy with fantastic support from google account. but when i restored the same in other phone, i only got call log back. not able to restore sms even after trying several times.

I recently bought one plus 3, while I was using huawei sonic phone, hence I easily transferred all my contacts via Bluetooth to my new phone, came looking for a app in playstore. I tried 3 other top rated apps but none of those were of any help. But finally tried this and it took my heart when not only it transferred my messages but also call log, hence I m not only saying to these guy but will also make a small donation:-)

Works right out of the box. Backs up call logs and SMS in a flash. BUT, it takes a hell of a long time to restore the SMS. Takes hours to restore about 500 messages. It happened on my Moto E 1st Gen as well as my Nexus 6P.

I backed up the contacts on the phone. When I connected the phone to my computer the backup file and directory were not there in the file manager. They might be hidden because in the app I could click restore and it would show the file BUT it failed to export it so to back up my data before factory reset (why else would you back it up) I HAD TO use another account : Google Drive which means a) you need to let this app access it (privacy!) and b) you will need to use your phone's bandwidth to upload and download the backup AND google drive AND google play.

It saves alright, but one can not delete the unwanted SMS. Creates irritation and leads to uninstalling. Will the creator do some thing to remove this flaw

I don't understand why this tool is marked under a score of 4.3!!! I am giving this tool 5!!!!!!! It does exactly what it is supposed to do in split second's. I will be promoting this App rigorously. Thanks developer.

Thank you for a well coded product ..... I had some texts marked deleted showing up in my call log that simply could not be deleted. This app got rid of them. I wish this app had a paid version as few useful things in life are truly free. I followed up on their website and it seems like this dev is using free apps as springboard to promote their business which is far better than the advertising revenue model Google uses. If I needed a Android coder I would certainly consider them.

Everything is good...& good app. But I want more features like other apps in market auto backup by date, time, week, monthly & by day..and upload & sync automatically..please add this features & after this I give you're five star..thanks a lot.

Error pops up each time & says- "the name must not be empty: null" . Kindly try & resolve the problem.

As the title says, it works like a charm, but with one thing missing: scheduled backups!

seamless move from one phone to another (having previously done this manually via adb and importing exporting and reformatting mmssms.db manually when needed) this was a breeze.

Backs up SMS and calls to Google drive Dropbox or SD card etc really quickly only really going to know if it works when i need to restore I guess

Backs up all call log and all messages in a flash and U can restore again in another flash lol.

In-fact I tried many, CM BACKUP, SMSBACKUP, etc etc. This is the one which is perfect in all senses - Speed, clean, up-to-date, archiving, cross-platform compatible, easily migrate to new devices, drive/dropbox upload etc. In one word, it meets all my expectations. Thank You, Developer...

Better than the rest of the apps in this category. A go to when loading new roms. Will change to a 5 star if somebody can tell me how to schedule backups or add the feature.

Worked exactly as promised. Does not back up MMS (which would be nice) but everything else was seamless. Thanks!

Downloaded and backed up on my sd card but can't find the option to restore from the same on my new phone, any help
