Amoeba Text Editor for Android
Opens 450kb text file and edits smoothly with no lag. Has undo. Can change font size and invert b&w.
It's lightning fast, has no crap permissions, doesn't access Internet.
Sad to see they stopped updating.
Too old. Can not open, save or anything else.
Nice app!
Finally a simple Cut copy paste editor is found
If it force closes install Text Warrior from Myopic Mobile. (You'll need a third party keyboard for Text Warrior If you are using Android 4.2 or higher.) Amoeba works in general on large devices only. I have one device with both editors on it. Five stars if it is fixed to run on smaller devices. I notice the app was last updated in 2012. Hope to see an update with bug fixes.
This is perfect for writing my novel on the go, the only thing I could ask for would be a counter? Like word count or character count. Other then that, love it!
Changeable font sizes?!? This is awesome!! Keep the updates coming! MotoDroid.
Love the design but text selection not working on Desire. Uninstalled.
it is what it is - a simple text editor... :) wish it'd support utf-8 characters and keyboard shortkeys like alt+x, alt+c, alt+v for quick working...
No way to select text on Froyo
It would be perfect if you could make Amoeba to support Asian languages like Simplified Chinese.
Great select method there should be another app that allows you to use this method with the browser and the market
Does not work with swype keyboard. Nexus one 2.2
works on a basic level. looking for something more like gedit or jedit.
Swype input does not work on the Captivate.
useful, but really needs search feature.
Does just what I wanted. Create files and edit with copy, cut and paste.
Works great for opening VIM files on evo
Great text editor would love a way to scroll quicker through large docs
Could not open a 5 MB file. Uninstalled.
Not clear how text selection works
Needs to be able to use while texting
Needs Swype support along with menu+c, v, x support for copy, paste, cut. Epic 4g 2.1 (Galaxy S Pro)
It's lightning fast, has no crop permissions, doesn't access Internet, doesn't burn your eyes with white background, it will be first in your alphabet ordered list of apps. It's perfect! The best plaintext editor in the Android universe.
Excellent selection functionally! Thanks for search feature implementation!
If it force closes install Text Warrior from Myopic Mobile. Amoeba works in general on large devices only. I have one device with both editors on it. Five stars if it is fixed to run on smaller devices. If you have Kit Kat neither app will work correctly. You'll need a Kit Kat editor. Six stars for making it work on Kit Kat. I notice the app was last updated in 2012.

First, this app does not let me browse for files on the SD card that I put in my phone "sdcard1" -- it will only let me select files on my built-in storage "sdcard0". Second, I can't open .txt files through my built-in file manager on my Motorola Razr M phone, even when they are on "sdcard0". The file manager lets me choose to open them with Amoeba, but once the app is open, it says it can't find the file. Third, it is not compatible with the Swype keyboard, which is what I always use. Spaces are omitted, words get reordered...it's a train wreck. For what it's worth, I'll say that I do like the large fonts and black-on-white text.
Opens 450kb text file and edits smoothly with no lag. Has undo. Can change font size and invert b&w.
This app is small and perfect!
3hrs and 22 text editors later; and I'm settling with Amoeba. Single celled brilliance. Scrolling, white on black text, copy paste. Large files. PERFECT APP!!!!
Best plain text editor on play store. Why it has that low rating?
Really should have list of files in the app itself - not keep having to manually trawl through sdcard every time a file is opened or saved. Where's Share? And those icons at the end of the title bar do nothing.
Realy easy selected text. Nice text editor. New update really change the application.
Too many editor apps try to be emacs. This is a phone I am using here and this editor is more than good for a phone.
A small text editor is nice. But this editor seems to suppress the built-in correction or prediction features of a keyboard. I have tried SwiftKey, Kii... This is a deal-breaker for me. I cannot rely on my spelling or typing ability.
Sad to see they stopped updating.

Undo, redo, swipe to switch, simple interface are very useful. I suggest the font sizes got options ie16, 18,20,22, etc. Thanks for the good job.
