DoggCatcher Podcast Player

When Dogg Catcher works, it works well. The problem is it won't stop working when it's supposed to be idle. I'll be listening to a book on Audible, or watching a video, and DC will suddenly wake up and start playing. Over and over I have to stop DC and start the desired app.

This is a very strong podcasting app. I've used it daily for more than 5 years and it is still the best I can find. Unfortunately help requests are auto-rejected and never reach the dev unless you "escalate' your own email request after sending it and then overcome the representatives who automatically assume every problem is user error. Not surprisingly bugs persist. The most visible bug is that it constantly shows a "downloading" notification which cannot be stopped or removed, which persists even when there is no internet signal to 'download' from. A friend of mine installed it on my recommendation and uninstalled right away when it was always using her system resources 'downloading' and she couldn't stop it. Also it's SD card storage access is very restricted and occasionally problematic.

I've tried PocketCasts, BeyondPod, Podcast Addict, and many of the other popular podcast apps, but this one is the best in terms of functionality and features.

I can't believe that I spent money on this. There are so many great and free podcast apps. I can't figure out how to even use it. Life shouldn't be this hard. Move on there is much better out there

Terrible UI. There are free ones that are better and more intuitive.

DO NOT BUY/DOWNLOAD. I paid for this app based on reviews. This has always been difficult to use, non intuitive user interface, difficult to manage downloads, etc. I have always hated it, but kept quiet for years because money spent is money spent. But today was the last straw, now it can't save podcasts and with little instructions wants me to manipulate android settings that can impact my phone???? I'm out. I'd rather pay to use any other competing app. Save yourself and shop elsewhere.

Disappointed with the interaction between the skip button on Android auto and this app. The app will skip the 10 seconds ahead but the sound gets lost. I expected way more from a paid app.

Still one of the best podcast app out there but been having problems with lock screen and when you switch to other apps. Exhibits strange behaviour. The feature to subscribe to RSS feed is well hidden and tedious to use as you have to enter login details for every feed. Need a way to specify the details globally.

Worse than iTunes. I purchased based on the reviews. Unfortunately it has been a disaster. The sound quality is choppy. It fails to download the newest episodes of some podcasts yet downloads hundreds of episodes of others until it uses up all the memory. I deleted the unwanted episodes and it downloaded the same episodes again. In numerous feeds I see 10 month old episodes instead of the most recent. I'm tired of fighting it. I give up.

Works perfectly on 8.1 beta with the Google pixel 2. I had a bad firmware update that caused some issues, but they were unrelated to this app. I factory reset and everything is smooth as butter.

This used to be the best podcast app on the market. I haven't used it in months and downloaded it, and I can't even find the search function. I had to Google it, and even those instructions are in clear. If anyone knows how to just freaking find search let me know

Worked OK for about a year but started playing up will not play some downloads but they work in external player? going back to a free one worked much better

Every podcast stops 20 to 30 minutes in and needs to be restarted due to an error. I've tried this on multiple services and phones. The interface is trash as well and I should have stuck with a free service.

This app is really good for keeping up with your favorite podcasts. Subscribe to the shows you like and then it can automatically new episodes as they come out. You can categorize and customize each podcast setting to your liking. Tip: create a custom playlist so you can download and sort your podcasts in the order you'd like to listen.

This podcast app is still great, though it's not updated frequently. The free version of the app (with an IAP option later) is no longer offered, so it's tough to recommend buying it blindly. I'll say that I've tried many, many alternatives, but this is still my "daily driver". Note: I use it for audio podcasts only, not RSS feeds or video sources.

App is unusable. Bad download functionality, and streaming does not work well either.

Great player but playlist management is a complete abomination. Playlists contents depend on categories. Once you create a category it cannot be deleted. Highly confusing

You can't switch it to wifi only, I paid for it and it still auto subscribed me to some duolingo thing and cost me a ton of money while updating the unwanted feed.. Thanks for nothing.

Slows my phone to a crawl with occasional freezing and restarting. Only started happening after last update.

If i paid for the app you would think id get ALL the podcasts but most only go back 3 or 6 months.

Been using for years. Still my go to podcasts app. There could be slightly more polish to the design...but that is a minor gripe. Does the job well. ????????

Well worth cost. 2x speed. Find and recommends feeds easily. Please enable sorting of episodes by their length. Thanks!

Looks like development on this has revved up again, so it's back to five stars. There's nothing better, period.

The new UI is quite beautiful and I'm liking the constant updates. Still need a better looking widget though. April 2012- new amazing looking widget and icon. To this is what app perfection looks like.

Very convoluted. I want to subscribe to podcasts and keep them in a favorites list. How do I do that? Not user friendly.

I like it and use it to listen to Dan savage's stuff but I've been trying to put the episodes on an sd card and it looks like that help section isn't complete plz help if you can

Excellent podcast app. I would like to be able to see stats on total time of queued episodes.
