About ParseGreek

ΠαrsεGrεεk is designed to help students of New Testament Greek by quizzing them on the parsing of verbs, nouns, adjectives, and pronouns. The app includes 8,700+ forms, all taken directly from the Greek New Testament. ΠαrsεGrεεk has numerous criteria to suit quizzes to the user's needs.

ΠαrsεGrεεk is designed to help both beginning students and advanced students. Advanced students can quiz themselves by frequency and other criteria. For beginning students, ΠαrsεGrεεk has been designed to be compatible with today's top intro grammars:

- William Mounce, Basics of Biblical Greek (2009)
- N. Clayton Croy, Biblical Greek Primer (1999)
- James Hewett, New Testament Greek (2009)
- David Alan Black, Learn to Read New Testament Greek (2009)
- Gerald Stevens, New Testament Greek Primer (2010)
- Jeremy Duff, Elements of New Testament Greek (2005)
- S. M. Baugh, A New Testament Greek Primer (2009)
- Danny Zacharias, New Testament Greek Stripped Down (2013)
- Stanley Porter, Fundamentals of New Testament Greek (2010)

It's a good app. Does what it claims. But the user interface is atrocious compared to the iPhone version of the app. If the Android version were as easy to use, in terms of selecting a grammar and sections, as the iPhone version I would be much happier with the product. When the two are compared, the difference in quality of interface is laughable, which stinks because the base layer of the app is fantastic.

Originally I had rated this 5 stars. While I think that functionally, this app is great and there really is no equal or rival to it, I've had to for a couple of years now and no real user interface improvements. I think the UI should be greatly improved with Material Design and new Android app guidelines and styles. I would like a cleaner and aesthetically pleasing UI.

I love the variety of grammars included. This app is useful for any student, whether they have a grammar our not. Well done!

2 suggestions, the fonts for the greek word at the bottom should be larger, and it would be better if the selections can be saved, so one does not have to set up again every time. What does number of correct answer 1 2 3 do?

Galaxy Note II This is really useful - but the fact that you lose all settings when closing makes it very hard to use. Fix that and this app would be perfect. EDIT: HMI does not fit on the Galaxy Note 10.1 - unusable.

K70%
by K####:

Generally, this app is helpful. However, deponents are not an option when choosing a voice, though Mounce recommends doing so since neither active is right (wrong form but right function) nor is middle/passive (right form but wrong function).

This would be 5 stars if a] it remembered my settings so I don't have to select Mounce and the first 25 chapters every time and b] it didn't start again from scratch every time I switch to another app or the home screen and then reopen this app.

I think this is a monumental app but you missed out on a fundamental and beloved Greek grammar! Gresham Machen's NT Greek for beginners! Why not include this wonderful text?? Also, when refining quiz criteria being able to select verbs and nouns, or any word type combination would be nice. Instead, right now, from what I can see you can only either pick one kind of word or all of them.. Thanks for the good work. Peace

I find I am retaining more knowledge in a shorter period of time since using this app. It's great!

This is just stinking great. Thanks so much. The only thing that I would say could use some work is the ui. When you go to select chapters from a certain book you might not be able to see the whole number. Just a smaller font or more room for the number would do it I think. One last thing. Is it possible to add in a best translation question too? Like which translation best fits the word listed? Thanks again. Grace and peace.

A really helpful little app. Parsegreek has helped me get faster and more accurate in recognising word forms, and the ability to drill based on specific chapters of my favourite textbook means that you can do really useful, tailored practice. I haven't seen anything comparable on any platform. It would be great to see a few improvements to the UI, especially an ability to set a default grammar and perhaps other settings, so that you can fire it up quickly and do a little practice at any time, rather than having to choose your grammar and chapters etc. every time.

On Droid 4, you can't see half of the tenses or anything in the quiz. You also can't check your answers, because the check button is out of view. Great vocab use, but is no more helpful than the lite version

Great app, but chapter numbers do not display correctly on Nexus 4. Please fix.

This app is FANTASTIC. I do wish my phone was a little bigger, because the icons are pretty small. BUT, I haven't had any real issues selecting what I want, so that isn't a huge issue. The quiz has enough options without being overbearing, and it's intuitive enough for you to just pick it up and play with right away. The only thing I would change is tilt functionality, which isn't really a big deal. I would definitely pay for a Hebrew version (and probably pay more...hint hint).

This is the best tool I can find for aiding retention of Biblical Greek. All we need now is a Hebrew version.

As a new student of Greek I needed the constant repetition of parsing verbs. This app allows you to do exactly that based on a variety of existing Grammars. I use Mounce's BBG and this was the perfect companion.

This app does it's job very well, and it's worth the price without a doubt. That said, the UI could use some work. I don't mind that it isn't pretty, but using it on my Nexus 7 I can't help but notice the tiny text in areas with a ton of empty space. Bringing up the size on tablet screens would save me a lot of eyestrain.

by N####:

This is a useful app, but there are a few improvements I'd like to see: 1. A less cluttered screen. 2. The possibly of filtering the vocabulary to NT books or chapter contexts rather than for various grammars.

Ever since my last Greek Grammar class, I've been struggling to find practical ways to study and keep up on my Greek. I have multiple jobs and thus anything I want to study/read I have to lug around, which limits what I study/read. But finding an app like where I can access a quizzing format, review declensions, forms, endings, etc--priceless. This is a godsend. Overall, the app works exactly as promised. Fairly easy to use, if not initially intuitive in a few areas (selecting the criteria to set the quiz to my level threw me at first). Several of the most popular/common Greek primers are available to configure your quiz content to so that it matches the method you were taught in. This app can accommodate skill levels from beginner to expert. I would love to see the screen layout become less crowded, maybe a sleeker design, larger on-screen buttons, more naturally arranged for how the eye tracks, or a quick tutorial. Options to increase text size would be helpful, since the text is really tiny. But truly, these details are minor--they would go a long way in perfecting the form, but the substance, the level of detail, is really where this app shines.

This app is helping me keep sharp during the summer between first and second year Greek. Love it! I've been looking for something like this for a long time. Since it has the ability to be keyed to the major grammars, this is useful for test prep as well as keeping skills sharp after your study is done.
