About Air Conditioner Calculator

Written with Ice Cream Sandwich and JellyBean in mind -- we work hard to make sure our apps are fully compatible with the latest and greatest Android operating systems!

Properly sized air conditioners are critical to the comfort of your home and health of your loved ones. The sizing tables you find at the hardware store are often inadequate, forcing you to estimate your true cooling needs. Underestimation will leave your home uncomfortably warm on the hottest days. Overestimation can be dangerous, filling your home with moisture and promoting hazardous mold growth.

The Basic A/C Calculator makes air conditioner sizing fast and simple, using a mathematical algorithm derived from cooling tables and load calculation manuals to give you a rough estimate of your specific cooling needs. We have implemented a unique sun exposure/climate zone system to improve the accuracy of the estimation algorithm.

The Advanced A/C Calculator (coming soon!) puts the power of true cooling load calculation software at your fingertips. Using the same data the pros use, you can determine the exact cooling needs of your home, either as a whole or one room at a time.

This app is not accurate even for ballpark. Oversized every calculation by at least a ton. Run away, far away.

How can you make an accurate BTU calculation with no ceiling heights? What if the room has 25 foot ceilings? What if the room has 6 foot ceilings? I am sure this app is very inaccurate only calculating the square footage of the room and not the volume.

I have never seen a softwate programmer making others' life, so easy....Excellent job.

It told me that my house requires a 39,000 BTU unit which is over a3 ton air conditioner. I have a2 ton air conditioner and it takes care of my house very well three and a half ton which it suggest would be grossly over size and the humidity would be very high in my house. not accurate at all.

This is actually rather useful. Used it to convince my sister her window unit is not broken, it just can't handle the work load. Handy-dandy lil app

F70%

Considers the house as one block. No consideration for ceiling height, wall insulation, ceiling insulation, window insulation, angle of house (besides north/south). You'd be better off just looking up your current air conditioner model number and taking the tonnage from that. It said we'd need a (darn near) 5 ton unit. We currently have a 4 ton unit (and I think that's too big).
