WiFi File Transfer Pro works great to transfer files from my desk top to the 16 GB SIM card on my new Samsung Galaxy S5 but offers no way to transfer files to the 64 GB SD card. I bought the 64 GB SD card specifically to be able to put my 35 GB music library on new Samsung Galaxy S5. After transferring A through F of my music library from my desktop to my phone using the USB cable I bought WiFi File Transfer Pro specifically to be able to more easily transfer files from my desk top to my phone without using a USB cable but WiFi File Transfer Pro can't do this. I sent 2 emails to WiFi File Transfer Pro (Smartdroid) a week ago and haven't even received an acknowledgement back. WiFi File Transfer Pro was only a buck 40 but I'm going to ask for a refund anyway.
After AirDroid began halting during file transfers I went looking and found this. Works well. No frills.Very quick, Very clean and it WORKS 100% of the time which is all I need. It may not look pretty but it works every time. Great with phone sitting on the Qi charger on my desk for backing and restoring and moving stuff - first browser window opened in Chrome when I start my desktop and last closed is WiFi File Transfer (Pro). I bought the paid version - as I do for any software I use that works as advertised. Recommended.
now with the update certain files wont upload to the tablet or smart phones, you click the file you want and nothing happens, you go to basic uploader and a movie takes about 25-30 mins to upload. it was great prior to all these recenet updates now im lucky if i can even upload a file to the devices. before update i was gettin about 7-10 mb now im lucky to see 80-128kb.
It's a good application. However, if you're not looking to back up the root directories or have to transfer a file to a specific directory then maybe SkyDrive or Dropbox is a nice option. If you are only transferring pictures, videos or music, any cloud base service would do. In this case you would not have to connect using an IP address at a specific port. Also, the files will always be available and not take up space.
Excellent. I'm a newcomer to Android and I found it to be intuitively easy to use to transfer files from my (XP) PC to my Android (Samsung Galaxy) tablet. Tip: put a shortcut on you XP desktop for even easier access to your tablet via WiFi File Transfer Pro. It works well with Google Chrome or Epic browsers. But Mozilla Firefox users beware as its flakey with my version of that browser.
The last update on this app was 2013 so this app is not being kept up to date with the latest versions of Android. It does not support Android 5.0 Lollipop for removable sd card storage. When Kitkat 4.4 shut off access to the sd card, I rooted my phone and was able to grant the file permissions to the app and it still worked. Android 5.0 uses a document model in place of file permissions as of November 2014. This app has not been updated so does not support the document model.
Tired of buggy "Android File Transfer" when working with Macs? This is a great alternative. Create a bookmark at the location of the phone folder you typically transfer files to/from, and it is just about as convenient as a USB transfer, and no cables! Also, it will work with just about any wifi connected computer, regardless of platform. Well worth the couple of dollars for the full version.
What a pleasure to find, download, and use an app. that so perfectly and easily does exactly what it says. It's interface is so simple. If you're phone and PC are both connected to your wifi, here's all you do. On your phone, start the app and hit "START". On your PC browser, enter the address (e.g., 10.10.10.10:1234), and voila, there appears your phone's storage, by folder. Create a new folder if you'd like. Copy stuff using drag and drop, and then click "Upload files". Done! When finished, close your browser. And, on your phone, click "STOP". 2015.02.05 update -- still works great with phone's internal storage, but you can't write to an external SD card. Booo!
I have a mac computer and android phone, and this app makes life so much easier. As long as I've got a wifi signal I can connect to (or my phones wifi device works as well - plus it doesn't use 'internet' or 'downloads' as it only uses the wifi signal) it's absolutely brilliant! Also this app runs heaps better on chrome than safari.
This file transfer app is a brilliant idea. I am reaching speeds of 2mb/s transfers. Couldn't reach that over the cable. I wouldn't advise using this on a public network though. Don't know how good the security of it is but it does open up a port to your phone. However, for the home network where everything "should" be safe, you can't go wrong.
Love this app. It's effortless. Just type in the url you're given when you open the app (you'll need to be connected to wi-fi, of course), and that's it! Painless. Transfer files back and forth, then later move to google drive or dropbox. That's all that's missing-- a way to download to dropbox or drive. But that's a very small wrinkle in an otherwise great program. Hat's off to the devs. This one is a definite 5-star keeper!!
after my htc wouldnt let windows find my music folder. (htc want me use htc sync manager which i dont want on my laptop and dont want the exact same music on laptop and phone but htc wont let me do it differently) i discovered this app. its super fast and lets me rename/edit/zip/unzip files on my phone via my laptop. It is now the only way i will transfer music and video to any other phone..........perfect app
The charger that Verizon gave me ended up being faulty (or my phone is) and I can't transfer files over USB. Because of this, I use my microSD card with a reader. I keep losing those readers though, so I tried this out. It works BEAUTIFULLY! Any file on my computer to any location on the phone... EXCEPT the microSD card. Just doesn't work when I try. I only have 8 GB of system storage, so I use my SD card a lot. Didn't take off a star, because I can just stuff it into the bit of system storage I have, then use the phone to put it on the SD card.
This app saves time and issues related using cables to move data between devices. I use it often between my desktop, tablet, and phone... android devices and Fedora every transfer I attempted has met or exceeded my expectations. Thanks for the development effort and making this publicly available.
It doesn't have the extra phone backup features as the #1 app but it uploads more large files, in a single directory, in simple mode, than another app does and manages to keep the connection alive much more often. Worth paying for if you up lots of big files from your backup archives on PC to phone. Other program was nicer but this is much more stable. Gets the job done 90%+ of the time without problems.
I use Wifi File Transfer Pro to transfer audio and photo files to and from on my Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone and my Samsung Note 10.1 2014 Edition tablet. Haven't had any problems with it at all. Works simply and quickly as advertised. The interface may take a moment or two to figure out, but it really is easy once you get to know it.
Love it! I tried all kinds of data cables and for some reason could not get any of my computers to recognize my Galaxy S4. This app works perfect for transferring files to and from my phone. I can't figure out how to upload directly to the SD card but can at least upload to phone's memory then transfer to SD card from there. Well worth the money!
All I wanted in the world was to be able to transfer ANY files back and forth seamlessly and easily between my PC and S3 via my wifi network. This app allows the end user to do just that. After trying the free version with file size limit and seeing how well this thing works, I purchased the Pro version and am SUPER happy that I did. I can transfer my PS1 emulator games, movies and music back and forth like it's nothing. Buy this. Now.
Been using it for 3 years, loved it. Simple, easy to use, works like a charm. Until I switched phones to an Xperia z5 Compact. The app still works, but not completely. It doesn't want to transfer files to the sd card anymore nor even create new directories, etc. You can still transfer files, but to the phone's memory, and I prefer to transfer them to the sd card. I really hope a future update fixes this.
Good app. Auto-restarts server if device acquires a new IP (ie: changes wifi nets). The UI is adequate for PC use, but could really do with an overhaul for navigation/readability on smaller devices (like tablets and especially phones!). Overall functionality however is pretty good!
perfect. Fast and easy. BTW! Since KitKat update it will not let you add/delete files to SD card. (Blame Google.) There's a workaround at least for Samsung phones. Use Wifi File Transfer to add files to your phone's internal memory. Then use Samsung's "My Files" file manager to move them to the SD. You can NOT move the files with Astro.
This is the WiFi transfer app I've been looking for. Simple to use, fast and cheap. FYI I'm on marshmallow 6.0 (custom) with the external SD card set as combined/internal. I can send files directly to my external card, unlike some other reviewers. It's not often you try the free app and immediately say I'm getting the paid one. At a $1.40 to unlock any file size, why the heck not. Great app and fairly priced. If only more developers thought like this!
This app is great and works great on my Samsung s4 and my Motorola Razr xt925 without any problems at all. I was having a hell of a time trying to find an app for me to copy to my phones from my Macbook Pro or windows, Kept finding junk that would not work. The answer was on the Google Store the whole time so I bought the program and never looked back. Very fair price also. I would not want to live without it. It has a free version that uses your USB cable but the wireless costs but it is worth every penny. In fact I have paid more for junk. I love this program. Simple to use and always works. Can't say that for a lot of programs today.
Excellent program for transferring files from an Android smart phone (LG G4) to a computer (OS-X El Capitan) wirelessly. Tried several times to do this using Android File Transfer application over USB, but somehow my LG G4 just will not recognize when using Android File Transfer. So, your program has made it easier to get data off the smart phone and into photos.app on my Macbook Pro. One caveat though, when I try to make a new folder ( your 'directory' ) your application does not in fact create a folder. I tried this several times to my external MicroSD card and the folder does not create. I hope this will be fixed.
I just don't know how I lived without this app. It is brilliant. this blows ITunes out of the water for transferring files from your computer to your tablet. This app is very intelligent and is so very easy to use and it is fast. It transfers text files, pictures, music , videos with just a few clicks . I have had zero trouble with this app and I consider it one of my most useful apps. I am using just a very inexpensive RCA 8 inch tablet with Android 4.1 and this app is working flawlessly . This is definitely a 5 + star app
I use this for all my file transfers. Photos, music, documents, scans, ringtones, you name it. Fastest, easiest way to connect my phone to my computer... and no need to carry a cable around all the time. 4/5 only because the web user interface looks and feels outdated and could use some more modern-day features... like drag & drop to name one.
For some reason my Galaxy 3 stopped communicating with my computer with the USB cord. I think my plug is damaged or something. This really saved me when I wanted to add files from my P.C. to my phone. It's a little slower than the USB connection, but is sure is easy to use and works great. Thanks
Even the free version provides all the functionality I've ever needed. My hodge podge of devices to which I can personally attest to its working with zero issues, EVER are- Galaxy S3, 4, 5 and 6 as well as Galaxy Avant(G386T1), Tab 3 lite(SM-T110), Tab 3(SM-T217). ?
Great App! I use it to transfer pictures, music and videos to my Galaxy Tab S. Of no fault of the App, it only writes to the internal memory. Android OS does not allow writing directly to the micro SD card. I use the file manager on the tablet to move everything to its proper folder. Does not work with Safari, works great with Chrome. Using WiFi File Transfer Pro is a much easier process than removing the micro SD Card and adding files manually. The transfer rate is better than expected, providing you have a good wireless router. I have only scratched the surface what I will do with this App.
Reason i downloaded this app was because the cable for my phone stopped working, all you need to do is install the app then type what it tells you to type into the PC browser. Works brilliantly and is very easy to use, simply all you need to do is select the folder in which you want your files, then its a matter of a drag, drop and a click of a button. Would Recommend to anyone.
Fantastic app, well worth the 1.33 i paid for it. I would have given it 5 stars, however, when i upgraded from the s4 to s5, i can no longer transfer to the SD card directly. Its a minor annoyance to transfer to the internal memory then move it, but its ok. Except when i want to move a couple of seasons of a show or something, then i have to do it in pieces. This may not be an issue in other devices, and it wasnt on my s4, but its still a great app! Buy it now!
I take a lot of photos w/ my phone and it turns out it's kinda lame to sit there in wifi and let the phone automaticly backup photos to the google photos cloud. then turn around and download em. along comes wifi file transfer,... poof. you turn on your wifi hotspot, you let your computer login. you turn on wifi file transfer pro.. get the ip into a brwoser window. and boom you have an interface, you can download, upload. it's fancy. and it even zips a bunch of photos into a filename you choose and you download it. - yeah it's as fast as wifi gets. but it's better then trying to haul things bck and forth onto the clould. GREAT APP smarterdroid!
Excellent app, extremely easy to use, reliable. I'm getting speed of around 15-18 Mb/s so I'm very happy with the speed as well. The only problem is that if your phone is not rooted you probably won't be able to upload files to the SD card. At least I couldn't on a stock 4.4.4 un-rooted Note 4 - I think the developer should put it in the description that root is required to upload to the SD card. I suspect the issue is related to KitKat (which I suspect it is, due to all the restrictions Google introduced when it comes to the SD card usage in KitKat), but nevertheless there should be a warning in the description. After I rooted my phone I had zero issues. This app is well worth the money - makes my life much easier - not having to mess about with cables.
Does exactly what it says. One of my favorite apps. I've tried a few of these this is the easiest and best of them all. Dev is awesome to work with. This app has saved me as my computer sometimes will not recognize my device. Awesome app! Samsung galaxy s6. The app has not been updated in a while so I'm not sure if it is still a viable option. Having trouble getting browsers to even go to the site..
This program does a great job with file transfers. That is without question, I have not had any issues inside this package. Very user friendly and worth the small amount that this company is asking for the Pro Version. If you want to own it get the Pro Version the promo is nothing compared to the Pro you can do a lot more with it for a couple of bucks. John A. Crowder California
Great app. USB transfer was slow and patchy, I can leave this running and forget about it. Transfers large files (movies/videos) flawlessly, and has no problem with multiple files. Would be nice if they added FTP support (unless I'm missing something, do tell me if so) so I can use it with my FTP client instead of the web interface, other than that, great app! Well worth the 88p!
Ever since I have upgraded my Note 3 to Kit Kat it would no longer recongnize my sd card on my phone. Now it will not load on my computer at all. I have emailed the developer multiple times and have not received any responses. I use to love this app and recommend it to everyone that I know. I really just want it to work again. It was a major time saver and a great app when it worked.
Originally I would have given this app 5 stars until the day came that I needed support...well that doesnt exist so if tech support is important to you dont buy it!
Not as fast as a direct cable transfer but its close enough. But the setup to begin connecting is significantly faster than trying to use the a file folder or windows explore for some reason.

Both my former Galaxy S3 and current S5 have never had an issue. I like the browser navigation of my phone's files and the speed of upload. I can never get the folder transfer to work, though that's not a big deal for me as I'm mostly transferring individual audio files on to my phone and individual photos off it. I have recommended this app to friends.
