Defiant App Timer for Android
OK! I get the idea that some folks are having issues. I had none although I am pretty far up the tech knowledge curve. It takes some skill to wire it correctly and then minor app skill to program. Main things to check are: 1.) determine the correct wiring diagram for your application. It varies based on whether your power connection goes to the light first or to the switch. Additionally, if you have 3 way switches, you must locate this one as the primary switch. (The one where 110VAC come into the box. 2.) When programming, the media volume must be at max. Some of this wiring stuff is not super obvious in the instructions, especially if you don't have electrician behind your name.
Doesn't work with Samsung S8+ going to buy the Wi-Fi switches. Thought I would give it a try. But FAILED
Weak design. Will not work with my Galaxy S5. Works with my wife's iPhone6. Very limited functionality. Clearly capable of much more with better firmware and app.
I'd probably fix dusk to dawn time before I fixed dust to dawn time.
It will not transmit a signal to the device from my idol 4 Android smartphone. It did work on my previous LG phone
Does not work with my cricket stylo 2. The light just keeps blinking.
Easy install but will not connect to android S7. Tried connecting on two separate phone with the same negative results.
It's a simple app. It works just fine. Had our for about a year. No problems.
This DOES work with android. I'm using a Samsung s7. You just need to make sure to max the volume for media.
Worked great with my old Droid got a new Droid phone and now the app does not work with the timer at all...
Doesn't work with Samsung S7
Could not set a default countdown, just a one time function
It didn't program with my Android device.
Does everything it claims and is simple to setup.
Installed on two outdoor light sconces on either side of the garage. Was really sceptical that it would work considering I only paid about 11 bucks for it, but it does. Set it up for dusk to dawn and comes on and off right on queue. Will likely get another for the front door light.
Standard install for this type of switch. Program by app is easy. However, dawn and dusk times are inaccurate and don't update.
I was hoping the dusk to dawn feature had some intelligence behind it to track the changing event times, but it doesn't. It takes a guess at the current dusk and dawn times, which isn't always right, and that's the only times you get.
It didn't work. I wired it according to the instructions but I couldn't get power to it.
Loaded this app on my android phone and couldn't get it to connect to the timer. Downloaded this app on my iPad and it connected just fine.
Could never get the app to work, on several devices, returning switch.
Just installed it. Simple to setup. For $14, I'm impressed. It's a timer for the front porch... it doesn't need blue tooth or wifi.
Tried several times, looks very user friendly and easy to navigate. Just would not upload timer preferences. Returning it tomorrow.
Pay attention to attachment of Ground, Hot, Load, and Neutral. It's called "dusk," not "dust."
Was working until daylight saving time happened. It won't let me manually reset time either.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the app. Works just fine and sets the timer correctly if you know what your doing. You just plug in to the timer-switch purchased with the cord provided and you install the app. With the cord connected you can use the app to program the timer. Simple. By the way, Dawn-to-Dusk times DO update. You just have to reprogram the switch with the app. All you need to do is reconnect the cord to your phone and reset the dusk to dawn. It will display the new dusk to dawn time if the time has changed.
This product with Bluetooth never should have made it to the point for retail. So under developed. The app and results are staggering apart. More then just a disappointment. It disgusting !!
One way connectivity, unable to check if device is currently on or off. Unable to connect from Samsung S8+.
Would not program from my android phone (LG Stylo). Returning today to the Depot.
It does not work!!
I am using this with a whole house fan. Easy to install and easy to use. I wish the app had more options and could be used without using the little cable. Can you tell why this app shows up as a different name on the phone???? This is poor design
First, the switch: I bought it to be a countdown/auto off. Package said I could program it for that purpose. I can but only once. After the switch is used, it erases the program. USELESS! If however you want to use the switch to program times on and off you can, but only while plugged in to the switch. No writing the program then downloading. STUPID! I'm taking the switch back.
The random mode doesnt work. Replaced it and the new one came one over an hour after start time and went out about 45 minutes later, 4 hours before the stop time.
Set up was very easy. Well on my way towards an automated home.
Okay. Could be enhanced

Cheap and works but the timer functions are very basic. Most disappointing is dusk to dawn feature, sets it for that day's time and nothing else. After a few weeks the timer was off as sunrise and sunset times naturally shift. Would be nice if it even simply just loaded one set of dusk/dawn adjustment times for every month... might be useful at that point. You get what you pay for!
