নির্মলেন্দু গুণ (জন্ম: জুন ২১, ১৯৪৫ (আষাঢ় ৭, ১৩৫২ বঙ্গাব্দ), কাশবন, বারহাট্টা, নেত্রকোণা) বাংলাদেশ ও বাংলা ভাষার গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কবিদের একজন। বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় কবিদেরও একজন তিনি।

নেত্রকোণায় ফিরে এসে নির্মলেন্দু গুণ আবার ‘উত্তর আকাশ’ পত্রিকা ও তাঁর কবি বন্ধুদের কাছে আসার সুযোগ পান৷ নেত্রকোণার সুন্দর সাহিত্যিক পরিমন্ডলে তাঁর দিন ভালোই কাটতে থাকে৷ একসময় এসে যায় আই.এস.সি পরীক্ষা৷ ১৯৬৪ সালের জুন মাসে আই.এস.সি পরীক্ষায় ঢাকা বোর্ডের ১১৯ জন প্রথম বিভাগ অর্জনকারীর মাঝে তিনিই একমাত্র নেত্রকোণা কলেজের৷

পরবর্তীতে বাবা চাইতেন ডাক্তারী পড়া৷ কিন্তু না তিনি চান্স পান ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ফার্মেসী বিভাগে৷ ভর্তির প্রস্তুতি নেন নির্মলেন্দু গুণ ৷ হঠাত্‍ হিন্দু-মুসলমান দাঙ্গা শুরু হয় ঢাকায়৷ দাঙ্গার কারণে তিনি ফিরে আসেন গ্রামে৷ ঢাকার অবস্থার উন্নতি হলে ফিরে গিয়ে দেখেন তাঁর নাম ভর্তি লিষ্ট থেকে লাল কালি দিয়ে কেটে দেওয়া৷ আর ভর্তি হওয়া হলো না ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে৷ ফিরে আসেন গ্রামে৷

আই.এস.সি-তে ভালো রেজাল্ট করায় তিনি ফার্স্ট গ্রেড স্কলারশিপ পেয়েছিলেন৷ মাসে ৪৫ টাকা, বছর শেষে আরও ২৫০ টাকা৷ তখনকার দিনে অনেক টাকা৷ ১৯৬৯ সালে প্রাইভেটে বি.এ. পাশ করেন তিনি ( যদিও বি.এ. সার্টিফিকেটটি তিনি তোলেননি। ১৯৬৫ সালে আবার বুয়েটে লিখিত পরীক্ষায় উত্তীর্ণ হন৷

স্বাধীনতার পূর্বে তিনি সমাজতান্ত্রিক রাজনীতিতে সক্রিয় ছিলেন। সাংবাদিকতায়ও জড়িত ছিলেন।

তিনি প্রধানত একজন আধুনিক কবি। শ্রেণীসংগ্রাম, স্বৈরাচার-বিরোধিতা, প্রেম ও নারী তার কবিতার মূল-বিষয় হিসেবে বার বার এসেছে। কবিতার পাশাপাশি ভ্রমণ কাহিনীও লিখেছেন। নিজের লেখা কবিতা এবং গদ্য সম্পর্কে তার নিজের বক্তব্য হলো - "অনেক সময় কবিতা লেখার চেয়ে আমি গদ্যরচনায় বেশি স্বচ্ছন্দ বোধ করি। বিশেষ করে আমার আত্মজৈবনিক রচনা বা ভ্রমণকথা লেখার সময় আমি গভীরভাবে বিশ্বাস করি যে আমি যে গদ্যটি রচনা করতে চলেছি, তা আমার কাব্য-রচনার চেয়ে কোনো অর্থেই ঊনকর্ম নয়। কাব্যকে যদি আমি আমার কন্যা বলে ভাবি, তবে গদ্যকে পুত্রবৎ। ওরা দুজন তো আমারই সন্তান। কাব্যলক্ষ্মী কন্যা যদি, গদ্যপ্রবর পুত্রবৎ।"

Nirmalendu Goon (born 1945) is one of the most popular Bangladeshi poets known for his accessible verse.[1] He was born in Kashbon in Barhatta in Netrokona, undivided India, present day Bangladesh.

His first book of poetry was published in 1970. Since then he has published forty five collections of poetry and twenty collections of prose.
