SMS Fence Detection

SMSFenceDetection consente di selezionare determinate aree ed inviare automaticamente un SMS di allerta ogni volta che l'utente entra e/o esce da quella stessa area.
L'App è nata a scopo didattico per un progetto universitario, dove viene mostrata la differenza tra due strategie per il costante monitoraggio della posizione(e dei fences).
La prima strategia prende il nome di Polling e ha un consumo di batteria esagerato, questo perchè l'utilizzo del GPS viene richiamato ogni 5 secondi.
La seconda strategia si approccia in maniera intelligente al problema, auto-adattando la frequenza di aggiornamento posizione e la sua accuratezza in base a 3 parametri: distanza dalle aree di interesse, velocità e direzione.
In breve, si cerca di utilizzare quelle risorse che per il device sono dispendiose da un punto di vista energetico, solo se strettamente necessario(come appunto il sensore GPS).

The App was created for educational purposes for a university project, which shows the difference between two strategies for the constant monitoring of the position (and fences).
The first strategy takes the name of Polling and has an exaggerated battery consumption, this is because the use of GPS is invoked every 5 seconds.
The second strategy is intelligently approaches to the problem, self-adjusting the refresh rate position and its accuracy based on three parameters: distance from areas of interest, speed and direction.
In short, we try to use those resources for the device are expensive from an energy point of view, only when absolutely necessary (just as the GPS sensor).
