AccuRadio for Android
I liked the selection, sigh. Keeps closing though. Can you please add something like epic music? Like those from Two Steps from Hell or Audiomachine and stuffs? Maybe covers too? I really like your radio since it gives complete information, I wish it allows us to copy the whole title. Paste it in some notes. Definitely an app to discover new songs, love it.
I rediscovered Accuradio on my Roku, and immediately downloaded the app again on my phone and tablets. How did I ever forget how great this app is? High quality sound, the ability to skip songs, ban artists, and an incredible crazy selection of music! Heck, I'd even purchase this if I had to, but it's free. All that's missing is Chromecast and a sleep timer. But despite not having those features....I love it. Great job Accuradio. Thank You!
Great music choice. Love the fact that you can skip as much as you like. Dont need to skip much as playlists are very good. Not sure of its my phone but I cant skip from my locked screen as I could on another player. Maybe my settings. Please let me know if I should be able to do that. Many thanks, great app!
I just downloaded this app very recently. In terms of content, it's just an all-around good app when conventional local radio and mainstream outlets are lacking. As someone who listens to a variety of music and talk, there are many genres that are easy to search and browse. There's even a post-punk station and an 80's alternative station! I'm in love... 8D
I Heart Radio and Pandora are fine but the skip limits suck. There are more commercials on this app but I will take a 30 second commercial over listening to a 3 minute song i don't want to hear because I am out of skips. Plus it is part of T-Mobiles Music Freedom so it doesn't count against my data.
Sometimes just want quiet relaxing, sometime punchy for exersize, whatever your doing you "will" find something to suit. Also in my experience no nagging and limited ads. Someone/s has put a lot of time and effort into the creation of this app and we get get fabulous music as a result. Thank you very very much!
Installed easily on a little Walmart phone. Does what it says it will do. Good selection, well considered song choices. The app is made in Chicago, and they have included some of the city's best music. Suggest adding other big music towns as well (NYC, New Orleans, Memphis, etc). Well done!
Good layout and functionality. Good selection of genres, but not so many that it boggles the mind. Choose one and it'll go on and on, playing very brief, unobtrusive commercials, maybe one every couple of hours. If something comes on that you really hate, or perhaps brings back bad memories (lol), just skip it. I've only been able to get it to save one favorite; it implies you could save many and I have many favorites here. So, unfortunately I have to scroll through everything each time I open it. If/when they change that, I'll give it a 6. But, other than that, it's still my #1 and only choise.
Love this service, and this app! Originally, I stated that the app wasn't fully accessible, but now that I have gotten used to the touch screen and not just the d-pad on the hardware keyboard on my hone, I'm happy to say that I can use all but 1 feature! (using Mobile Accessibility with explore by touch enabled on a Kyocera Rise phone) The feature that I can't use isn't a super important one (rating music), especially since if I am listening on my phone I probably won't have time to take out to rate the song. Hopefully, I won't get the ever-so-hated "updated and now it's hardly accessible" experience...Great service with both an accessible app, and website, something that's harder to find than it seems, so a 5-star rating it is!
I have been listening to Accuradio for a few years now, even before apps. I've always enjoyed the variety of music and ease of switching songs and channels. There are ads (of course, it's free) but they are kept brief to ensure you enjoy the music.
This *was* easily my favorite free music app, but all of a sudden ads kicked in with a frequency and lack of consistency. If I'm listening to a laid-back chamber music station while working, and out if nowhere an ad with loud rock or a yelling announcer comes on, it's totally disruptive. Broadcast channels don't make that mistake, and if this goes on I may resort to those. Better yet -- give me a Pro option. You have a great service and I'm willing to buy a reasonably priced subscription. -- Added next day: Thanks for the response and opportunity to have a dialogue. I'll do just that.
Way kick ass music. The metal stations play music I've forgotten about or I haven't heard in 25 yrs. The sound is just ok if you have a stereo that can make up for it. The app, however is very glitchy. Today there were two stations playing at once and I had to go into settings and force stop the app to get it to quit. The music rules tho. Minimal ads unlike other services.
Has great music, but no play, skip or block buttons on the navigation bar? Commercials were very little when I first downloaded this and now it seems they have doubled, also the app closes everytime you click a video link or someone calls you. Very frustrating when browsing social media and watch short videos. Definitely needs to be updated more so, then I will reinstall.
It will be awesome if this app can run in background more like an apps whereby the skip, pause, or play button are accessible via from screen or pressing the volume button will reveal the keys for selection. Overall, it's a good streaming platform and minimal interference from ads. Keep it up and I am looking forward to future improvement.
If it wasn't for a recent matter that makes the app load indefinitely or for 2-3 minutes before being able to access your channels, then it would really be the perfect online radio music app. I really hope an update fixes the matter since reinstalling it didn't help me. I really want to give it a deserved 5 stars.
Great way to discover new music. Aural smorgasbord. Extensive music collection. Highly intelligent/adaptive player. Very little overlap between different playlists. Love blending playlists & discovering forgotten genres/musicians. My goto solution 4 Internet radio. Has helped me tailor my on demand playlists on other streaming services. Must have app; intuitive with a tiny footprint.Skip, rate! Save faves-let it adapt to your changing tastes.
Well again I'm so pleased with this App. I can tell you that this beats all the other Radio Apps, and I've got though a few. I also appreciate that their permission stuff is basic. It's Music at its best, fabulous! Do check out this.
I've been using accuradio on & off for 4 years. IDK if my issue had been there the whole time but lately I've realized that no matter what (android/iOS/my car) I have to turn up the volume almost all the way up on my devices to get a decent volume. I didn't look but I think the bitrate they encode the songs with is too low. Other streaming music apps don't have this problem.
I've been down this road before of online radio music channels and there's 1 thing I'm weary of and will not give 5 stars until I see signs of AccuRadio avoiding it, rating songs. I like to listen to many genre of music, i cant stand it when something is repeated too often. Rating systems are a fail in that way. When you want to hear something new, guess what... Most customizable radio sticks you with you with the same old songs. So I'll wait and test this thoroughlybefore giving out a perfect score.
This is one of the best apps in the genre. The only shortcomings I see are that it does not support Chromecast and when you ban a song/artist, you are only banning from the current channel. Edit :while the above comments stand true. I would add a suggestion. If I could use the app as a remote when I play accuradio on my pc or another device that would be convenient. Note:above ratings stand true
I am 63 yrs old and enjoy not only the music from her teens thru adulthood but my choices in music as well and coming into my teens when the Beatles debuted on Ed Sullivan there were many different choices of music to choose from. So I've googled most every oldies website not only on Google play but the internet as well and all were disappointments in some way.. their choice of songs, singers, clarity of stations, losing stations completely or simply close up shop for the night. I've gone thru many channels on this app and have not been disappointed once ! It stops playing once & awhile ( frustrating ) but I enjoy it so just go in & restart.. Highly recommend for oldie lovers like myself !
I usually love this app, and I've been using it for almost a year now, but lately the music skips in the middle of a song or cuts off completely before the song even really gets started. It doesn't matter how I connect- full connection, low connection, Wi-Fi- it just keeps doing it. Please fix this and also please add an adjustable equalizer to help improve the sound of the music. Thank you.
This is a much better option than Pandora. So happy to find this. Significantly fewer ads and unlimited skips. I also haven't run out of music in any station like I frequently did with Pandora. Love it!!!
This app is awesome it let's me get on other apps at the same time so I can listen to music and play roblox at the same time. It is also great for when I have to do chores and want to listen to music... ONE QUESTION THOUGH...Are you guys ever going to make it to were we don't need WiFi... See I have to go to my grandmas house to listen to it because of the lack of WiFi at my house...please change it.
I really, really like the variety of jazz channels. My main complaint is that when I unplug my headphones, it stops as expected but sometimes starts again after a couple of seconds through the phone speakers. Even worse, sometimes it starts again much later (even hours) when I start doing unrelated things on the phone. Very random and sometimes at inappropriate times. Hard to remember to kill the app and it shouldn't be necessary. I have a Samsung S4 and haven't had this issue with any other media app.
I am a big Smooth jazz fan, the station here in Chicago unfortunately went off the air I E-Mail one of the D.J to tell him I was sorry that they was leaving the air wave, he returned my email and inform me about Accu Radio I am very happy with your station the selection is huge and I can select the type of jazz I want to listen to, download in my note 5 love it. Thank
I have this on my iPhone 5s and I'm getting it on my new Viking Pro. I love this app because no matter what type of music you like or if you like it all, it has it as well as with the most recent songs in that music type. I suggest this app to anybody who likes music and wants an app they can use to listen to it. You can even use it while on another app. I would rate 100 stars if it was possible!
I've loved Accuradio for years. Listened on desktop for years and still do. But now I'll be using the app to listen everywhere. The variety is awesome. Update 8/2016, Still the best. While others have started charging a fee and playing tons of ads, Accuradio still has minimal ads for hours of free music. Thank you! Forgot to add I've been listening since 2001 or 2002.
Completely blown away by how specific and how many jazz stations there are to choose from. Never felt the need to use the radio on Pandora or Spotify but this is perfect for the explorer that knows what they are looking for. Dream job right here.
I've been listening Accuradio since 2001 and always been perfect, but now is presenting some issues when trying to skip a song, the app keeps loading for the next song forever. Please fix this issue, because Accuradio has the best selection of music and can't think of anyway to really enjoy my music if I have to figure out a way to get the player unstuck every time I use it.
Seems solid. Great variety. Top notch curation. Intuitive as a boss and tight execution. Bests Slacker for sure. Well defined alternative to the now defunct milk music. Sorry Pandora, Goodbye full screen ads and often repeated.. This goes for you too Slacker. Great sound utilizing all spectrums of tastes. Lightning in an application.. Nicely done
I love that I still get my calls and messages, unlike some others ( I.e. Pandora). I love having my music my way ! Update- added to my new phone and love it still. Would highly recommend...Update- got me singing Shania Twain still the one
I'd like it more if I didn't have to register just to listen. The "personalisation" doesn't work anyway. The songs I skip or block are still played. And it consumes way too much battery.
When I first discovered this app, I was pleased to discover that it is a much better service than Pandora. The fact that it has truly unlimited skips, the option of banning certain songs and/or artists, and very few ads is extremely refreshing. I highly recommend this to anyone who is searching for a better option than Pandora.
Great app, happy with most of the varieties included... However, on my Droid Turbo, I experience many crash reports whilst changing stations. Also, (just a personal preference) it would be excellent if you could add a Jazz substation for the electro swing genre (think Caravan Palace). Other than the issue with frequent crashes, however, I am satisfied with both quality of audio and quantity of music.
Ever since live365 shut down, AccuRadio is the sole source of comfort for those of us who love Django, Bix, & SATCH'S Hot 5 & 7's, with some Big Band Swing (Goodman, Dorset, Krupa, Hawkins) mixed in.
They got rid of the Favoritos channels with the update so you might waste your time saving stations you like tbut the favorite tab is alawys empty and you now how to look around the history???? Why not make a BETTER app instead of worst????
Great range of genres to choose from. Definitely something for everyone. You can even skip the commercials. Awesome app...great work and kudos to the Devs of Accu Radio!
Now, this is a secret. My old online teacher doesn't know this, or maybe he did and never wanted to get after me, but, I listened to Accuradio everyday. It helped me get by as the monotounous droll of the videos we were supposed to be watching played on our screens. The school's network only allowed certain websites through. And guess what little gem of a streaming service got through the system? Accuradio! So thank you, for playing great and lovelly music that is always perfect for whatever mood I'm in!

I prefer this app for streaming music over all others, despite its flaws. The sound quality is just so-so, it's very crash-prone on my new Nvidia Shield tablet and the music quits if the screen is off for more than a few minutes… but despite all that, it's still the best "online radio" type service there is. It truly puts Amazon and Pandora to shame. The depth of some of the channels is great enough that you can listen for hours without hearing repeats. There are only a few channels that don't quite cut the mustard, like the Latin Jazz one, but the rest are pretty well thought out. Odd that, with so many choices, there's no dedicated J-pop station, too. There's a Japanese glam rock channel and a Korean pop channel, and many other world channels, so it's a curious omission. Still, I mostly hang out on the oldies channels and that makes me happy. Crash issue: On the tablet (and occasionally on my phone) if the screen times out while AccuRadio is playing, I'll turn the screen back on to a "this app has stopped" error message, even though the music will continue to stream as long as you don't close the dialog box! Very weird.
