Sling TV for Android
The app is full of bugs that cause it consistently crash. Casting to chromecast is a lost cause. I've spent more time trying to connect than anything else. Sling needs to get their priorities straight and fix this app asap. In the meantime, save your memory and don't bother downloading this junk.
Awesome! Absolutely perfect for me. Much better and cheaper than cable. It lags a little sometimes but it almost always picks rite back up after 1 or 2 seconds. Even still im extremely satisfied! !!! Keep it up sling!
Won't work on my Smart TV. Works fine on phone or computer. Got Chromecast for the TV and now can't get it to give me the cast symbol!!! BTW could not get the Superbowl earlier this month with this primitive app!! Sheesh!! Much work to be figured and developed in many areas.
Sling's DVR like function leaves alot to be desired. It is really weak in this area as trying to rewind or fast forward to a certain spot on a program is horrible. Also ng needs to have this feature improve to the like functionality that Netflix offers with it's fast forward and rewind.
I love the app sometimes if the WiFi isn't good it acts up but most of the time 90% of the time its great! I would recommend, well I have recommended to family and friends. I'll never buy cable again.
I didn't enjoy Sling at all. I signed up for the 7 day trial and was pretty excited about it even after having read many terrible reviews because I knew my internet connection is very fast. I quickly realized that watching TV via Sling is nearly impossible. Poor video quality, audio that is a few seconds off from the video, audio that cuts out, freezing video, etc make it annoying at best. I also found switching from one show to another to be a total pain. The idea behind Sling is awesome, but they have a long way to go before the service is something worth paying for.
Poor picture quality, while watching the 6:00 walking dead premier the picture was going from good to a very poor blurry picture .. I had a very strong signal at the time 51 mbps so needless to say my friends n family were not impressed.. the app also has control issues when you attempt to perform other functions from the phone you are casting from.
App totally crashed my phone today. Didn't just freeze up in the app like it normally does, it crashed my phone. Still many issues with casting but works great with roku!
Horrible video quality for 20$ a month. Constent buffering and crashing of app I used it for about 5 months thinking it would get better. I just cancelled service. They offered me some free products to stay on two more months. No thanks.
Would be 5 stars if not for the connectivity issues it has. Sometimes the audio doesn't sync with the video and sometimes the streams just stop working completely and gives an error message to try again later. I have to restart the app to make the stream load again. While not perfect I still prefer this over cable as it allows me to watch the few shows I actually watch TV for. And gives me my live news. For a low price.
Great Channel lineup for $25/mth but horrible buffering when streaming to tv. Only plays great when viewing on phone or tablet. My internet connection isn't the issue either, and my in app tv guide is completely wrong with what's playing on each channel. Guide is useless, even restarted app and no updates. May cancel if i find something thats doesn't buffer when streaming, no issues with hulu, youtube, or netflix. Just need my live shows!
Chromecast support is garbage right now, at least for on demand content. The same shows and episodes work fine through Roku but buffer and get out of sync on Chromecast.
It would be a great app if it wasn't constantly buffering. The sound is off.. it completely stops in the middle of an episode so you have to restart from the beginning if you want to finish it. Super disappointing
We had Blue but now have Orange. I like being able to add on to Orange with our favourite channels. The app really helps browse content which is not as easy on the Xbox One.
Service is sort of OK, though their press releases about making cloud DVR service to everyone using this app instead of a select handful of beta testers was pure BS. Meanwhile, it would take a thousand words to elucidate all the ways the app sucks, so here's just one example. The search function is essentially useless. For instance, NASCAR is a big deal in the U.S. and a major presence on all the Fox Sports and most other sports channels in Sling TV. Search "NASCAR" and you get a big fat zero returns.
Well Sling tv is great if you want something like dish on the go or wanting to catch the football game while camping or for the kids when waiting on something. It is tv just a second away. It is like having Netflix, Hulu and Vudu wrapped into one. All your favorite channels right there and easy to get to. I recommend the $40 plan which gives you access to everything but maybe you just need one of the cheaper plans. I'm sure no matter who you are that you will certainly enjoy sling! Or maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about which is a possibility.
I love Sling mobile for listening to CNN and MSNBC during my daily walks. When traveling, I love watching my favorite TV show or movie. When my husband and I can't agree on what to watch on our living room TV, I quietly turn on Sling on my phone with earbuds and watch whatever I please. I gave up cable years ago now rely solely on streaming. Sling provides over 60% of my content. LOVE IT!
Great service I had since day 1 and has only gotten better. Much better with little lag and double the original channels. My main complaint before was walking dead and popular shows had major streaming issues but those now seem fixed. Awesome service for 20 bucks. Often have free channels like epix and hbo.
1 star for spamming me with feedback request when I pay monthly for their service. First time I sent feedback. Second time sent feedback with also the request that they are asking too often. The only option you get is 1: love it and rate (already gave it 4 stars) 2: meh, leave feedback 3: ask me later. I have been using option 3 lately and now I'm being asked much more regularly. So much so that I am upset enough to right this review. Good service but they spam their paid customers.
I would give a better rating but some of the shows I watch are not being updated and I have to find else where to watch my TV. Especially for a service I pay for. I expect better for the money spent. If the shows I watch go a second week I will drop to a 1 star. If it still does not get any better I will cancel and move on else where. Thanks please fix the poor service we pay for.
Dear Sling TV & Co., Thank you for the effort. It's truly amazing not to have to deal with big TV Co. That being said, as a proud Nvidia Shield TV owner, the fact that your application doesn't allow me to sync your app with the Live Chanel's app on my Shield is a big no for me. Your UI is to "heavy" for me, for lack of a better word, in that regard. As soon as you update your app in this regard I'll hop right back and give you a 5 star review. Thank you for the generous trial, but I'll stick with OTA TV for the time being. Best wishes!
I was paying for the X1 platform and it was great, but I was being overcharged by so much. So, I did the 14 day trial of Sling, and liked it so we kept it and still ended up paying much less for only the channels we like to watch... we don't receive local channels that are in our town, but we still prefer it. It's also really easy to navigate.
It's a good concept but the video quality is not full HD, it buffers a lot even with the router in the same room as my TV and phone. I have 3rd party video streaming apps that have better video quality than sling. Probably just going to use the free trial and then cancel.
Needs a sleep timer and a vertical channel selector. A lot of home internet is now capped and people fall asleep watching TV. Implement a sleep timer. The top mounted horizontal channel scroll is inconvenient. Almost requires you to use 2 hands to use app on phone
Always disconnects from Google cast. Tells me I need to connect to a Google Chrome cast before watching certain shows, then disconnects or freezes. It's fun to use 70% of the time , the other 30%is wasted waiting for it to reboot or reconnect. I'm wasting 30% of $25 a month plus time ..... Therefore good riddance, I'm switching to hulu.
Raised my review to 3 stars. Chromecast issues are *mostly* resolved. One major problem is the connection settings still do not work. Cannot set to medium quality if trying to watch on a less than desirable connection, it always resets itself to unlimited. The key to this service is having a 100+ mbps cable connection with a newer AC wireless router. It works flawlessly on a Roku that is hardwired to the modem.
Have fun falling down the crapper now that playstation vue is out. About the same price as sling better channel selection and not a messed up as sling. Your customer service sucks so bad I should of canceled it months ago but had no option. So now that I do bye bye sling TV. Can't believe I wasted so much time and money with you guys.
I rely on my Xbox one for TV and the app on there is horrible. I never give ratings, but this is so bad that I have to. If all you watch it on is a tablet, it's great. I think I'll try directv now, or YouTube is coming out with streaming tv.
I don't know what most of these people are talking about. I love sling and it's far cheaper than cable and it has a really good channel line up. If you okay is crap, you more than likely need better Internet.
I enjoyed it watching on my phone but everytime i tried to stream to my tv it woukdnt work... set it to cancel the 21st and they still took the $50 from my accnt! Emailed them to cancel and refund my money and i get a automatic response. If im not worth your time you wont have mine... canceled. Beware everyone they just want your money!
This is a scumbag company. Thay tell you watch free and get you to put in your e-mail so they can spam you, then they want your credit card or you don't get anything for free.. total scum.
Would be amazing if it wouldnt restart when i pause the show.. I use chromecast combined with the app on my phone and if its casting and i pause it will shut off and i cant fast forward so i end up having to watch the entire episode again!
I like sling TV but I don't like how Everytime I watch it on my phone it freezes or just completely blacks out.... I'm not going to keep wasting my time paying for something I can't wait for a long period of time. It will work for like 10 minutes then freeze and black out... Fix it
Horrible interface. It used to be better but the decided to try and make it more intuitive but instead wound up with a very confusing interface. It is also one of the worst Chromcastable apps available. Often can't keep up with the stream and looks super pixelated. Blah.
Absolutely the most unreliable, most incredibly useless apps that I have ever used in my life. I pay for your service so this app better work flawlessly every single time. It works maybe 3% of the time at best.
Still has buffering and streaming issues. Constantly had to change the channel so it can load correctly. Great product but needs improvement. This is more coveniently when on the go and watching on phone rather than casting on your tv screen.
Dont know why some people are complaining. Im watching it on a free wifi signal thats one block away and watching live shows in hd on an rca tablet. No problems watching anything
I don't know what is going on with sling TV. But ever since the recent update all the channels are scrambled. When I first downloaded the app it caused my device to do ghost touching, they updated the app it stopped. I started loving the app, then the next problems started. This scramble crap, I guess I will just have to cancel and go to one of the cable providers in my area. Plus, sling TV cannot be played on a Samsung smart TV. I just paid for another month of this service. I will be canceling this service, unless some changes are done to correct the problems.
The concept of slingtv is amazing! But it constantly is skipping and freezing and jumping all over the place. No it is not my internet connection as I have it hard wired to the router and my internet service provider gives me way more bandwith than needed. Once they get their software issues fixed it's awesome!

Sadly, the app keeps crashing on my phone for me. This doesn't seem like a common issue though, and it works very well on my laptop.
