Slimming World for Android
It's ok. Although the search feature when trying to find a syn level for a food is poor. Generates loads of answers and you have to wade through them to find what you want. The rest of the app is ok. Menus and recipes are handy but the personalised section where your weight and weigh ins can be found has never worked. For me a varicose scanner on the food search would make this app a dream .
Needs to up it's game. How can there be no place to track what you're eating. Current layout is not very intuitive, whilst it's nice to see inspirational posts and links to receipes I'd rather be able to do a quick search for foods and then immediately add to my planner. Not everyone has time to constantly access a PC or will remember to write down what they have eaten.
App is OK for checking syns but could be so much more!! I can't seem to find a list of healthy extra choices so as an online member how do I know what to choose! it would be good to have a calendar that you could use as a food diary and plot in your start week. There is no search option on the recipes you have to just scroll through. Would also be good to have a save option so you can put your favourite recipes in your favourite tab
Very frustrating application. I can't find anywhere to access a diary and daily food planner. When you find a food there is nowhere to save it. No feature to save recipes. It's just so basic and needs to be brought up to date in line with other dieting apps. Such as the weight loss planner being on and activity tracker etc. Just joined a week ago and this app is putting me off continuing
Only shows syns and recipes. Android version doesn't have any other features, including weighing in. Recipe list could he more organized (alphabetical quick search or a search bar in general). An app that, after all this time and updates, is as unchanged as the space jam website which was made 20 years ago.
I find it very frustrating that there is no access to either the food planner or SAS log via the app. Or the ability to search recipes or connect my fitbit. The app looks nice but isn't very useful and I have ended up saving the website to my home screen and using that most of the time.
The food search is rubbish, all I wanted to do today is look up a noodle meal from Asda or Marks and Spencers which is ideal for me to take to work, but instead of coming up with the items I searched for it came up with biscuits, onions and cheese related items and from every brand out there. If I'd have wanted biscuits I would have searched them. Maybe if I search cheese I'll get my noodles! So unhelpful!!
Can't complete a food diary in this app. Can't scan bar codes on food, would be so much easier. My target award disappeared showing only Club 10 as my most recent award. Not happy about this either. It will have to do as an app as there is no other!
App is so basic compared to how it could be. Could easily have a food/activity diary built in. You can't search the recipes at all and even the Syn checker isn't very intuitive as brings up pretty random results when you search for even basic things. I have had to scroll through every time. I also feel like there aren't many recipes on the app. Pretty disappointed to be honest.
The app should Scan products and automaic send them to the syn part of the diary when there syns. Like a chololate bad u shouldnt have to out it in syns. Should add up ur syns and healthy b and A for u. Very basic.
For how old this app is it could be much better. You should be able to keep an electronic food diary and a barcode scanner to quickly find syns would be great! But it does the job if you can be bothered searching for free foods
I love slimming world but think this app needs greatly improved. I find it difficult to find things on the food search as you have to be quite specific. I have wrote in emails to suggest features but haven't heard back. This app would benefit from a bar code scanner to make things easier while you are shopping.
My app does not tell me the following information:
This app has helped me immensely through my first few Slimming World weeks, from Syns calculations and recipe ideas, also a great boost when reading other People's success stories. Only thing missing is an online food diary, would help when away from home and save from pen finding and scribbles if this is added app would be perfect.
Could do so much more for paying group members. Surely must be a way to add a feature to track what you're eating and can add/monitor values/HE's/sun's. Just basically a food searcher, but even then you have to scroll though irrelevant results to find the one you're after. Just a shame as could be great with a couple of extras.
Downloaded the app thinking it would be the same as the food diary on the website but I was wrong. The app is basically for checking the syn value such a shame. It would be great if it was like the website with the added bonus of not needing to login everytime you want to update your diary like you have to using the website version.
Still can't weigh in. Lots of features still not able to use. Lots of things keep going off of the app and searches are becoming more and more vague. Can never find what I'm looking for. Still needs a bar code scanner and a section for newly added products.
I think the app is great for finding out syn values and letting you know Healthy Extras. But I feel they could put symbols next to free food like S P C F so you can always check free food as well. Also, like my fitness pal it would be great if we could scan food and find out the syn value as would make shopping with the app so much easier. Maybe add the syn calculator to the app?
Keeps me in the straight and narrow with Syn values. Good for recording losses, showing targets and awards. Has a few good motivational stories plus recipes. Wouldn't be without it on my mobile! Fantastic for quick reference without logging on to the full site
Unless I'm missing something, there doesn't seem to be the functionality in this app to track what I eat, which for me renders this a bit redundant. I really was expecting this feature when I downloaded it, and given that other food diary apps are freely available, I'm surprised this isn't included in the SW subscription. Time to rethink my SW membership as tracking food is much too clunky!
Disappointed doesn't come close to how I feel about this app. Given the cost of joining this app is not even close to good enough. With hundred of free apps on the market that do a better job for free Slimming World have some serious catching up to do. The mobile site is equally useless.
A handy but limited app that doesn't really help the weight loss battle. In trying to update my weight in stones and lbs I can't put in half a pound, it just can't be done, yet my initial weight had a half pound in it and that shows. It also needs to work with fit bit and other exercise trackers, it's a simple bit of code to allow that link, even to a simple step counter on a phone. I have no way of proving to my consultant that I actually exercised every week. The only part that's any use is the food part but weight loss involves a lifestyle change that this app and it's developers seem to have ignored.
Only thing you can really do on this app is check syns. Would be great to have a meal/syn tracker. This is something competitors do so you'd have thought SW would be eager to catch up!
All these people saying food diary missing seem pretty thick, it's an APP to look for food and get updates, this app has been a lifesaver when shopping or when I'm on the go at work. I'm a gas engineer and I'm all over the country, so syn checking when I'm at a petrol station is ideal. (2 stone 0.5 lbs lighter)
I cant get use to this app, you can't search for a recipe you have to flick through the entire list. Also when I search for syns it brings up every item bug the one I'm looking gorgeous. I always end up switching it over to the desktop site
No list of healthy extras, no way to record a food diary after working out syns. No syn calculator. Nothing more than a list of branded food syn values and not worth having as you have to do everything on the web page anyway :(
Rubbish. No food diary?? No barcode scanner?? So many great apps out there surely SW could manage something better then this? I cannot believe I've just paid £60 for online membership...
This has helped me greatly on every shopping trip. I have stayed on track as a result. So easy to use and helps to reinspire on those off days.
won't let me go on to my profile tab. Keeps closing sent load of reports an email so now I'm write on here. Which I doubt will do anything either.
I HATE this app, but no alternative than to use it. The search function is so frustrating to use. When you search, the item you are looking for very rarely appears. When you do get results, there is no logic to the order that they are listed in. They are not alphatical and Healthy Extras are not grouped together. Whoever designed this app should lose their job as far as I'm concerned.
Wouldn't be without this app on my slimming world journey. I've lost over 5 stone and am a target member and still use it
Couldn't get back on line, wouldn't recognise my password. So couldn't work out my syns. Been told that I can get a syn calculater online but can't get online so not happy!!!!!!
I love the SW plan. However, this app takes several attempts to sign in. It took 11 attempts tonight! Just not acceptable. I only use it to weigh in and probably won't use it for that for much longer as it's so frustrating trying to log in. And yes, I am using the correct email and password. Great eating plan but rubbish app imo.
It's not very good to track your progress, would be better if it was more like the weight watchers app you can log food, excersize, scan items to find out what points they are and you can even sync your fitbit, slimming world need to improve
This app is terrible - far less than I expected for £20 per month!!! I previously did weigh watchers and although I'm liking the SW diet better, I'm appalled how far behind this app is. No access to planner so what is the point of using the search?? Only to have to search again on the website to record what I've eaten??! WW have a barcode scanner, ability to add whole recipes / meals to favourites or to food record. I see that some of these features are planned but WHEN?! I'm paying NOW?! (although no mention of barcode scanner)
Bad layout. Not very helpful. Doesn't explain how slimming world works in still very confused and i joined a month ago neatly. The recipes section is just one long giant list you can't filter for 'lunch ideas' or 'chicken dishes'. Annoying considering I've paid for an online membership and both app and website are crap
For some reason they decided to get rid of the food diary function on the newer app. So although you can look up syns, you can't count them. Grr! Gutted that I deleted the old app now! This means I have to use the old fashioned paper food diary to keep a record of syns consumed. To be a top-ranking app for me... it would need a food diary and a bar code scanner (like the MyFitnessPal app).
It's ok to use,but have a lot of products that come up in the results that you have to sift through.. now, zapping a barcode on a product with your smart fone etc using the app to get instant syns and info would be amazing
Awful app - if you are starting on the diet then you want to be able to write down all the foods on the app, scan new foods and have it set up so you can find things instead of hundreds of 'inspirational' stories. It needs to work a little like Fitness Pal which is great except that only counts calories and not free, heathys and syns.

I think it's a great app and it helps enormously ...now that I have figured out how to use it properly! I was moaning about recipe searching and how there was no way to input an ingredient to find recipes, all I was getting was a list of recipes that were put up by SW. However after about 10 weeks I figured out you need to scroll down to features and hit that and then it becomes more like a laptop version and you CAN find recipes via a search app. If only I'd found it weeks ago lol. Great app, thankyou
