About Dormi - Baby Monitor

The baby monitor for the smartphone age
Includes all standard features of an audio hardware baby monitor, along with video streaming (using your phone’s camera) and some surprising extras.

Works at any distance. Dormi can use any available route to connect parent and child units (WiFi, mobile data - Edge, 3G, 4G, HSPA+, LTE), and can work even when Internet is not available (WiFi Direct, HotSpot / AP)

Uses strong cryptography to keep you from unpleasant surprises that are all too common on regular IP based dedicated HW monitors.

Ultimate feature? You can connect MULTIPLE devices in parent mode to a single child device simultaneously.

Intelligent audio
You don't need to configure microphone sensitivity - Dormi adjusts to noise levels automatically. Leave the device several meters away from the sleeping baby and it will still be able to detect when it cries and amplify the sound for the parent device as if it were placed right next to the baby.

Press and hold the Listen button to hear sound from the child device even while the baby is not crying. Equally, use the Talk button to talk back to soothe or calm the baby while you are on your way.

Convenient info-center
With Dormi you always know what's going on. All important information about the child device is always available while monitoring. If connection with the child device is lost, the parent device will notify you.

Dormi will even notify you about missed calls and new text messages received on the child device, so you will not miss something important while not having direct access to the device.

We know Android!
If the baby starts crying while you are on the phone, you will be notified with vibrations and a gentle beep to your ear - without abruptly disturbing the phone call, yet letting you know.

Of course, Dormi works in the background, even when the device screen is off. Great care has been taken to limit battery usage - you can monitor for many hours on one charge.

Have you got an old Android device sitting in the drawer that you have no use for? Not anymore - try using it as the child device with Dormi. We have made the effort to ensure it runs from Android 2.3 onward.

Start right away...
All you have to do after install is pair two devices together (our autodiscovery feature makes this a breeze) and start monitoring right away.

Although unlimited monitoring is paid, you will get 4 hours of monitoring for free every month.

If you do decide to make a purchase, you only have to do so on one of the devices participating in the monitoring.

I love this app. It works great as a walkie talkie. I like that you have the option of audio and/or video. There is also a flash light. There is also a night vision option on some phones. My husband can check on our daughter while he is at work. The only downside is that it only had one child mode. I would love for it to have 2 or more if possible. I have been trying to reach someone about the app with several emails about being able to have multiple child devices and I have gotten no response.

Always wanted a video monitor but they were always a bit pricey. Luckily she has a tablet so when she naps it is the camera. So far have paid $.99 for the same and the 2 way talking is so cool since I have a little one potty training. Very easy to use, would def recommend to atleast give it a try!

Z70%
by Z####:

I use this app to monitor a toddler who is a climber, gives me peace of mind at nap time. The reason I give 4 stars is because 1. Sometimes the video connection cuts out on WiFi and 2. Because I can't keep the video monitor on, it only comes on when there's noise or if I hold the 'listen' option. I'd like the option to keep the video on, even for a set duration. Other than that, this is a fantastic app.

Great app so far. Our monitors just broke for the 3rd time in 3 years (thanks motorola) and this has saved us from forking out another $100 plus! We have only used it twice so far, but it's already much more reliable than the baby monitors. I have gone outside and sat in the basement with no service interruption.

We forgot to bring the monitor with us during Thanksgiving. This app was a life saver, you have access to all the features for free for 4 hours every month. It has great features like motion detection, night vision and if you want to purchase the app you can get a discount if you refer friends!!! I ended up buying the app because my baby has started waking up without making any sounds, so our traditional monitor it a bit obsolete at this point. Give the free version a try and see, you'll love it.

I bought the unlimited using a google account that i could access through all of my phones. I also bought a holder that is out of the babys reach. It notifies me when shes moving or crying while i still have music playing in the background. Its an amazing app! Saved me hundreds of dollars from buying a monitor for the same use with an old phone(galaxy s4) that i didnt need anymore.

by Z####:

Not very good in dim light. Screen just shows black using my old Samsung discover as the child device, even in day time. Only shows an image when all lights are on or sun is shining directly into the room. The camera on the phone shows a good image in the view finder in the same dim light, so I don't know why this program can't. Still works ok as a sound monitor, unless I get a weak cell signal.

Used to be 5 stars, now 4. Following new hardware, previously unseen issues are apparent. A so called "rare system issue" makes the microphone stop working on my Nexus 9, meaning I can't use it as the child device. Any chance of a fix?

Z70%
by Z####:

This app is great for just an audio monitor. The video works very poorly even though I use it with a good wifi connection, it often blitzes black & White fuzzy screen or unfocused pixelated image. The only other drawback to be aware of, is that when you press the video symbol to briefly check the noise/video status of your child, a beeping noise emits on both devices which has sometimes caused our child to wake up.

V70%
by V####:

It's always searching for child's device at night while I'm asleep so I still worry about my child's safety! I don't trust this thing I'll have to go buy a real monitor now.

Q70%
by Q####:

WiFi keeps disconnecting on the parent device (same with several mobiles I tested) and waking us up at night with false alarms. I need them to know that the connection is reliable. Not sure if it is related to the app itself but in general I have no other connection drops with any other application. Who can help troubleshooting this?

Z70%
by Z####:

this app is great except for the fact i cannot mute the sound on the parent device while monitoring. I would just like a notification instead of having sound always on. I.e i am at work. By the way i am using it as a dog monitor, and only need it to notify me of her barking. please add this option otherwise i cannot use this app

The camera is blury thats why a give 4 starts but this app works even when i go out to the store and the baby its in the house with my husband. At the house i use my phone for everything and if detects a noise i can still hear it very good app

The only issues that u have with the app, is the fact that once in a while I get this error, saying g that we need to renew our billing. As far as I am aware we have bought the app. Anyone else has this issue?

Z70%
by Z####:

very reliable, simple to set up, useful features , works well. this is a great use for an old phone (works on gingerbread). plus it isn't a battery hog for any of the devices i have it running on (old moto atrix/photon, nexus 4, 5, 6, 7flo, LG V10). this is a great way to save the money you would pay for a dedicated baby monitor and save the planet by reusing electronics instead of buying more.

please also push app for ups user, I have one iphone and one ndroid. I miss this app there. It's awesome and convenient. Paid version is priced very nicely. Often when.baby moves the camerA turns on and off and this sometimes results in camerA crash

Great idea, but it keeps crashing my Galaxy tab 4. It shuts off on its own for no apparent reason other than I'm running this app. And it isn't the battery. Could be something up with my device but it's still a pain.

Z70%
by Z####:

This is a great app and seems very reliable running on a Sony Z2 tablet (child) and Samsung Galaxy S5 (adult). The payment structure is very fair and I would personally only use the yearly and not lifetime subscription, only because I think this would help the devs with sufficent enough income to keep the service running. My only critism (not worth knocking a star off) is that there is no Apple version, but I do appreciate the difficulty in jumping through the many hoops of the Apple gods. My partner is one

So I love this app even though I have only had it for like a day. My only problem is that the night vision isn't that great. Maybe it's my tablet that sucks for night vision video but I would love if it worked a little better.

It doesn't work with my new mobile. An audio error occurs each time I start it but there is no help on how to fix this. Support didntw answer. Please help me, I'd love to use it again.

This app would be perfect if it didn't have connectivity problems at hotels?? The hotel WiFi is fine and works with all my other apps, but this one can't seem to find the child device 70% of the time during our stay here. :(

Love this app. Was looking at buying a baby monitor, had a look around and found this app. Use an old phone and you have a great , cheap baby monitor. Connect app on both devices, 1 is parent 1 is child, and that is it. You can turn on the led for extra light. And it just wakes up my phone when there is noise and displays the camera. Great job guys.

This does exactly what you think a baby monitor app should do. It pairs super easily, and your parent device will hunt down your child device to the ends of the earth! (It works even if the devices aren't connected to the same LAN.)

This is the best baby monitor I have found. I love it. We can't use regular baby monitors because of our wifi and others are just too expensive. This is just right and it works great. No more pacing the house to hear if our daughter is crying when we aren't on the same floor with her.

L70%
by L####:

Everything is wonderful except when you turn on the video, it makes the phone light up in baby's room. Which isn't great when he's sleeping. Maybe not the app developer's fault, but it's the reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5. I love that you can switch from WiFi to mobile data seamlessly.

It has all the features any parents would want in a monitor. Can go anywhere in the house and hear everything. The Multiple parent option is the best. The wife can be at the store while I stay home and she can hear when the babies wake up. We love this app

X70%

We went over to the in-laws forgetting our baby monitor. This app worked much better than expected! Really neat how the 'parent' phone will be notified of missed calls and messages and inform you over the 'child' devices battery condition a day warn you if it gets low. Only thing that would make it better would be 3way pairing.

X70%
by X####:

I don't usually write reviews unless I'm seriously impacted by something. This is by far one of my most used apps and is worth every penny to have all the features. You can turn any android device into a full featured guardian for your kids. I use my old Nexus 7 and an LG G2 with a broken screen as my monitors. You can use it like a walkie-talkie to speak to and hear from the child, switch between front & back cameras, etc. Even use it on mobile data in another country!

Sharing of account is not an option, since that would mean to share emails and everything. I'm the only one in my family skilled enough to have my credit card associated with an account. But I'm at work during the day. With your current model I see no way how we could use the app, although I would like to.

Had to track down my wallet at one in the morning to pay for the app again after switching phones and losing its billing. Giving users four hours doesn't get them through a single night, and losing your 'unlimited' service adjust switching devices is nuts.

High quality video, advanced encoder and enabling flash on child device (SGS3 ON 4.3) cause dormi to crash. Also accelerated playback crashes on parent device (LG G3 on 6.0). It makes me feel real warm and fuzzy l that there is a team of monkeys working my issue but is it too late to get a refund?

Great app. Bought the full version. Was working great but after an Android update to 6.0 it fails when trying to turn on the monitoring. Unfortunately there is no any support from developer although tried to make contact several times. Pretty disappointing from a paying app.

I have my daughters bus stop in the corner of my house and I didnt like waking my baby every morning so i download this app and its very useful it beeps in loud noises and you can hear baby whenever you want

I have tried a few apps like this, and purchased an expensive video monitor (that is totally useless), but this is the one that we use all the time. The sound sensitivity level is perfect, the audible beep gets my attention, pairing with other devices simple, it warns you if you lose connection. It was worth much more than the $9 I paid for unlimited use, but great that there is a heap of free time to test it, and different pricing options. I couldn't ask for more.

I tried free first and loved it, immediately upon purchase of unlimted lifetime, i start having microphone issues that turns off camera all together. Re-started both devices, same issue. I will change my review after this issue is fixed.

Really brilliant app and so cheap. Very happy to give the developers my money, rather than splashing out on an expensive monitor. Thank you Sleekbit! EDIT: Have now been using this for a couple of months, with an old redundant HTC Desire S as the child device, and I'm still in love with it. Whenever we go away, even if we have no wifi, we are still able to use Dormi over a hotspot connection. On occasion, we've also used other people's devices when we haven't had our main device with us, which works great!

Search no more, this is the best. I've been using this with LG Nexus 4 as a child device and OnePlus One as a parent device. Works like a charm. I have purchased Annual Unlimited Usage and it's well worth the money. I've noticed that if both devices are connected to the same WiFi network which is NOT connected to the internet, the video is NOT available (only sound). But if the WiFi is connected to the internet the video becomes available. I don't understand why internet access is required for that.

... if not only multiple parent devices were supported, but also multiple child devices! One old phone with each of the children and one parent device each with the parents. Please, pretty please, add that feature and I will gladly pay extra for that.

F70%
by F####:

Needs to be able to handle multiple child devices though. I have two small kids. I listen for one, my wife the other. Sometimes we switch around, so we need to be able to pick which child device to monitor. Also doesn't work at all on Nexus 9 tablet. Restarts immediately when there's a noise.
