About Do Now - Focused Timeboxing

Simplifying the todolist: Planned - stuff to do now/today. Unplanned - brain bump, worry about it later stuff. Routines - stuff you repeat a lot/want to plan ahead for/interval training and since you can load them into any other list they can be used over and over again as building blocks for easily managing lots of variations of your day - not to mention that they can be scheduled to be loaded into your planned list automatically. Helpful for those with ADD/ADHD and need help staying focused.

Focusing on time: Be time rich. See how much time things actually take to do. See what time you'll be done with each task. Move tasks around while the timer is going without worrying about losing progress. Control the timer like a music playlist - play, pause, stop, put it on auto-repeat so tasks completed will be re-added to the bottom, put on continuous mode so the timer will automatically move through tasks as their time's up and you don't have to intervene. Enter full-screen mode for less distraction and to reinforce the idea of focusing on one task at a time. Optional countdown alerts, status bar notifications, and a widget all give you awareness and control of your time.

Stay Organized and In Sync: Google Task Syncing is available to make it easy to connect not just with Google Tasks but other services such as Todoist that focus more on organization (more direct integration is planned). See this Zapier recipe a user of Do Now created: https://zapier.com/zapbook/todoist/google-tasks/38205/todoist-new-incomplete-task-to-google-tasks-new-task/.

Make time look good: Multiple themes to choose from and more coming! Widget theme matching app theme is being rolled out.

No ads!: The only ads are optional - you can opt-in to get rewards for completing tasks that are usually discounts/deal types. In-app purchases available include unlocking extra features and themes.

Recommended usage is to follow a technique like Pomodoro or 30/30 as well as GTD. Break up your day into chunks of time and assign some amount of time to each task you want to get done otherwise known as time boxing. There’s no need to be rigid - you can vary the duration for each task and the app will keep track of the time and tell you when it’s time to move on.

Turning on continuous and repeat mode as well as the countdown option make it a powerful interval timing for your workouts or structured work tasks.

Check out the settings page for options. Feel free to use the Help & Feedback option to learn more and reach the developer for feedback.

Permissions:

Networking-related permissions are used by Google Task Syncing, Kiip - the rewards service, Google analytics, Google Play for purchasing items.

Vibrate permission is used for timing notifications (can be disabled in settings)

Sync and account related permissions are required to sync with Google tasks (optional feature).

This app is near perfection! I love it! Unlike other apps which only have a basic to do list, this one here is special because you can group a set of tasks and put them into routines and then add them to to do's or schedule recurring routines! You can also designate how long each task will take and it tracks the time and even totals the time it will take to complete a routine or group of tasks AND at what TIME you will be finished! EXCELLENT APP! I would gladly pay 5-10 bucks for it! It would be so worth it for me.

This is really useful to help me focus. If I get distracted, the alarm goes off and pulls me back to what needs doing. I like being able to sequence the tasks and know what time I expect to be working on what - really helpful way to keep me realistic! I haven't mastered all of the app's power yet, but I appreciate this app!

*Update-I started taking Nordic Naturals fish oil (2/day) & am out of the weeds!* This was my 5-star, top favorite app. I really hoped for more development and alas.. I kept looking and searching for something that helped me finish on schedule. Well, I actually am now using Brili. Just wish this was more developed and even donated max donation for a time. Still a very useful app! Thank you for helping me. Hate writing this review, but Brili is expensive and this is my runner-up!!! So, still a great choice.

My breaks shouldn't be counted as work. It makes it appear as if I did more than I actually did. So, those should be differentiated. Also, it would be nice to see stats like the average number of hours worked over the last 7 days, the week, month, all time. It would help with personal progress by working to improve on the average. I would purchase it if this were added

Wonderful so far. Just one issue though... I just want to set it and go focus on my tasks. Can't it give an alarm and still keep going even if I don't have the time to mark that task Complete yet?

R70%
by R####:

Cool concept. My only two quibbles are that there isn't an AMOLED black theme and that the number transition animations are distracting (can we have an option to turn that off and just have normal Roboto or Helvetica numbers?)

Good app. BUT.... you can't change the order you want to start with. It starts from the top, but I arrange everything first to last. Yet it starts last to first -____- so #%@& annoyed. Been messing with the settings and looks like I have to rearrange everything. Thanks Obama.

Great app to plan day. Like being able to swap around tasks if day changes. Scheduling a list to start at a particular time doesn't work for me, I don't even get a notification for it. Otherwise an amazing app.

Glitches and crashes. I would love the app. I paid the upgrade but it doesn't work.

C70%

It's simple, allows you to break tasks down, identify tasks that can be part of a routine, helps to concentrate and keep track of the passage of time. It works for me. Love it!

Z70%
by Z####:

Routines Functionality Broken: Attempted to use thise routines functionality three times now if you input multiple separate routines, they merge once you attempt to start one. Additionally, once deleting all but one routine and turning one on, the tasks change and duplicate as soon as I hit start.

Life saver! I tend to slack but timing my tasks like this makes it feel like a challenge that I need to beat ! My house is finally clean without having to take forever

love this app and it has great potential, but.. NEED TAGS for detailed stats :( And pleasee this shouldn't count my breaks as work!!!

It's rather buggy. I thought it was very useful for a while, but it seems like the app is getting worse. The developer isn't fixing the app. It frequently crashes. When I turned on google sync, it started messing up my tasks on google. When I thought I disabled google sync in this app, it kept doing it--so I had to go into my google account settings to block "Do Now", and now it is frequently requesting permission to connect to my google account. Recently I lost my routines, argh!

I've been searching for anything similar to the 30/30 app on iOS ever since searching to Android a year ago, and have come up empty handed... until now! At least maybe... I'll continue putting it through the paces, but first impression is that it is the ONLY Android app that has most of the same functionality as 30/30... just not quite as sleek or intuitive. But after a year of searching, I'll take it! EDIT: alarm sounds are much quieter than the system sounds on the phone, even with phone volume maxed out.

I do like this app; it's generally fun & easy to use & helps me stay on track. I'm worried, though, that the glitches will keep me from using it long-term. I frequently have tasks i already marked off start over randomly in the middle of another task, sometimes the timer will reset if I pause an action, and sometimes the timer will keep running after being paused. It's frustrating! I have already paid for premium & will gladly rate the app higher once a few of the more annoying bugs are squashed.

Allows current task lists - great for time boxing and keeping me on task. I've used it to get a lot more done. Also allows future unscheduled tasks to be created - then rapidly moved into today's list with the click of a button. The design of the app is very good. It allows me to set things up quickly and not waste too much time on data entry.

One of the most frustrating challenges of AD/HD is difficulty with temporal awareness. Especially when tired, i literally have no remotely accutate sense of the passage of time or time of day, and judging how much time a task will take is next to impossible. However, when hyperfocused on a timed task, I can tell you to the minute what the time of day is without looking at a clock for hours. Awesome app to retrain temporal awareness, and force you to break down your day into bite-sized pieces. Thank you!

Easy, quick, simple and hassle free. Works smoothly, lovely design. Everything perfect. All you'll ever need as your work companion. Thank you!

Z70%

What about this app has anything to do with photos on my phone? Developers, why do you need that particular permission? I don't like that invasion of privacy.

M70%
by M####:

Only just started playing with it and it looks good so far. If it continues like this ill add the final star later. My only request for the initial free version is to offer a not quite so bright 'dark' theme as the blue one that is the only current free dark theme is still quite 'bright', or should that be described as more garish bright. But that is a minor quibble.

Please correct the status bar prompt that keeps trying to get me to sign in with my other Google account. Highly obnoxious. If I wanted to use that account I would sign in. No need to keep asking.

Widget doesn't work!

M70%

Does what it needs to for me, I've found it extremely helpful and handy for what I use it for, also I find it helps if it's written down its more likely to get done on time and within the time set

U70%

It's a shame that this is no longer developed, because it was everything that I was looking for (and willing to pay for) in an app. As it is, there's too many bugs and the app might run into incompatibility problems anytime soon without support.

V70%

The widget text color is way too light. I can hardly even see what tasks I have planned on it! >_<

M70%

Wonderful concept and perfect for folks like me who have Adhd. Giving it only 4 stars though because it's buggy. When I pause it, it restarts. The alarm doesn't work sometimes.
