WVXU Public Radio App for Android
I love WVXU and having the app and it makes it easy to listen just about anywhere. They have had performance issues but have been very responsive to initiate fixes. Thanks WVXU!
Pandora will play uninterrupted for hours, but WVXU stops every few minutes - on the same WI-FI connection.
...To listen to BBC World Service early on a Saturday. After a few minutes just like other reviews observe here, it simply quit playing. If this is a pattern it needs to be fixed. I am a sustaining member and expect better. As well, it would nice to see that this becomes compatible with Google Chromecast audio.
Simple easy app for direct access to live & archived audio from WVXU in Cincinnati, OH. VXU is the local NPR affiliate with all news & commentary. You'll have to put up with a 30 second add when you first open the app, but after that you can listen live or select programs by topic. Incredibly informative.
It does hang up a lot. Would prefer a steady live stream...
app will not play
Great local news and information about Public Radio shows
Still works great
Often won't close in the background, which causes battery drain. Buffers often, today was unlistenable because of buffering. Horribly designed. Keeps pestering me to review the app. Here's your damned review.
Frequently just stops working. Seems to be unrelated to whether I have wifi or not. I can be sitting still and it will drop for a minute or two, resume, then drop again.
Takes just a bit of getting used to, but very user friendly once you know your way around.
Does what it says it does. Sometimes the audio stream freezes up, but that may just be my connection.
Less glitchy! I can listen anywhere!
Very annoying
We take the app and our Bluetooth speaker on the road and are never without the world's best three radio feeds!
Lets me keep up when away from the radio.
Always smooth! As of 09/23/16 it works great. Stable.
I take WVXU everywhere!

Allow closing the app to be easier.
Works great, but having to open the app and hit back twice to exit is a pain. Why not have an option to close the app from the persistent notification window (similar to Spotify)? That's the only thing missing from this app for me.
I love getting on-demand content from a station I support. It would be a five-star app if the app closed all the way without having to force close it from Android settings.
RADIO
It stops over and over. I have restarted it 8-10 times for an hour program. Very frustrating.
This new version is great. Stable and easy to use.
This app over the last one is more reliable. I turn right on every day
Much better!!!!!!

I like the app fine when it works. It hangs up. It needs to be restarted after about 30 minutes.
Sometimes freezes, won't always close in the background.
The on demand shows stop every 15mins..
Love the station's programming, but this app is VERY buggy! Stops and closes multiple times per hour and it will no longer close without me having to restart my phone. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S5 and had the same problem with my S3.
NPR is great app laggy and buggy
Otherwise quite good.
It's great when it works, but constantly shutting down. I would use it more often if it didn't have those issues.

It's not perfect but it is good
Much more reliable than earlier versions for me.

I don't know if it is my phone (Google Pixel), the app or the station. It keeps cutting out on me even though I am on WiFi and have solid signal. I have to open the phone, pause and then unpause the app to get it to restart. I'm gonna try NPR One to see if that will work.
