TPR Public Radio App for Android
Great app for listening to NPR.
On my Google Fi phone (Android), this app frequently stops playing and I have to pull out my phone and press "play" to get it going again. WORSE, to get it to stop playing, I often have to uninstall it! I uninstall it another 6 times a week, meaning I'm also reinstalling it that much. I LOVE Texas Public Radio, but this app worked a lot better when I had an iPhone. TPR, please fix!
Very user friendly app. Easy access to all the NPR programming I need. Lately, howevwe, I'm having problems restarting after a pause. The app freezes. Also, it's not letting me skip ahead on a program like it used to.
At first I loved getting my TPR fix anywhere BUT now that I've used it awhile it's a pain! It's constantly dropping out & I hafta re-start it usually at a crucial point in the story!
Why is it for a group of people who are intelligent, they cannot create a stable app? The start page is completely confusing and redundant, but more frustrating is the fact this app gets stuck in trying to load ALL the time (instead of crashing like it used too)! It needs to be scrapped and re-developed from the ground up with a new developer, or better yet, a NEW developer. This has been going on for years, over multiple devices. If you want an app that is working, I recommend using Chicago's WBEZ instead. Its interface needs work, but at least it will load up...
Major glitch is that sometimes this app stops while using other apps.
It's one of the very best apps on my phone love it. Bill R.
I get the news when I want it
It's good
Love the app and the station. Been having one problem since starting to use the app on the Google pixel. After the phone locks, a short time after (about 3 minutes or so) the stream stops and I have to unlock the phone and hit play again. Very frustrating, especially since I like to listen in the shower. Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?
I don't have issues with connection. It stays on when I'm using other apps and keeps playing in the background. So easy to get my classical music fix every day! Love it
NPR-IT does drop out at times. Only drwback.
App works well, freezes every once in a while, but much better than it used to be.
I hate the ad before the radio plays
Works for me!
Works every time, easy to use
Outstanding public radio station!
The TPR app is great.
Very reliable app
Great!
A while back they added a front loaded advertisement when starting a stream. This would be fine, except the app crashes A LOT, forcing you to restart the stream repeatedly, and listen to the ad every time. This means you miss a large chunk of the show you were listening to while you restart the stream and listen to the ad again for the 3rd or 4th time. Bringing up anything else on my phone while listening is pretty much guaranteed to cause a crash. Luckily the content is usually worth the hassle.
Same complaint as most of the comments, "it crashes sometimes". One of the other comments mentioned "adds" and I had to stop and think..."there are adds?" not much wait time after airdate on most shows. I love the station and the app.
App quits sporadically, does the same thing on S7 as it did on my S4.
The only problem I have with this app is that sometimes it stops working for no reason
Really enjoy listening to it, it does stop at times, but only for a few seconds.
Love this app, keeps me updated on local, national and international news.
TPR need I say more?
Love it
I am a big fan of public broadcasting, radio and TV. I use the TPR and NPR apps daily. I have some frustration with the TPR display in that I find it difficult to read the title of the article because there is just not much room in the little square, especially for my favorite sources, Texas Matters and The Source. I hear a piece of something on the radio and then go to look it up and can't find the title easily.
Too much announcments. When I start up during the day many times on mobile devices i will get the repeated PSA
I love the shows and news on TPR / NPR but the app fails a lot. I either can't play it or it shuts itself down. It's very frustrating especially when I'm away from a radio and listening to a show on the app like when I'm out on a run. I hope they fix the bugs on this thing. It's very frustrating.
I've never had such ease of use when it comes to an app the streams data. I never have a lag unlike things even as good as Pandora. Love the news and the app makes it so much more accessible! Thanks
This app freaks out and closes or "loses signal" when other apps are being used sometimes. It doesn't close from the home screen on my phone, and if I have the app running trying to connect but in the background it doesn't fully connect.
Erratic crashes, less since the update but still occurs. Been using the NPR ONE app for additional content not found on this app.
Huge fan of NPR and TPR. Love the app however noticed lately that wifi was turning back on after I turned it off and seems to be connected to the app. Annoying glitch because I don't want to connect to the public wifi automatically.
I just hate it when it shuts off and makes no attempt to reconnect. Yet it still pretends that it is connected.
The app used to work with no problem, however the stream stops and cuts out randomly while I'm listening to it, which forces me too restart the app. If listening to live content you may miss part of the program.
I love having access to the the only radio channel I listen to! I would have rated higher but sometimes it stops streaming then starts again...
Allows live program streaming4 and access to shows recorded earlier, as well as written stories and reports and events and culture in covered areas. The app cuts out frequently, requiring re-setting. I could not live happily without, but wish for uninterrupted play.
